Wednesday Top Headline Summary

by Media Editors: “In his testimony before the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Wednesday, Michael Cohen will accuse his former client, President Trump, of knowing that his adviser Roger Stone was reaching out to WikiLeaks concerning the publication of stolen Democratic National Committee emails. But Cohen apparently will not claim Trump directed those communications, and Cohen will specifically assert that he lacks direct evidence of improper collusion by the Trump campaign with Russia — a significant admission, given Cohen’s longtime status as the president’s former top lawyer and fixer.” (Fox News)

“The House of Representatives passed a resolution late Tuesday afternoon that would terminate President Trump’s national emergency proclamation, which is also being challenged in court by a multistate lawsuit. The final vote of 245 to 182 fell largely along party lines, but 13 Republicans joined Democrats in supporting the measure. The bill now goes to the Republican-controlled Senate, which must vote on the measure within 18 days. Mr. Trump has vowed to veto the resolution if it reaches his desk.” (CBS News)

“President Trump shook hands and smiled with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday evening in Vietnam, opening two days of talks about Kim’s nuclear weapons program. … Trump and Kim … will have preliminary talks and a ‘social dinner.’ The total engagement will last about two hours before additional talks Thursday.” (Washington Examiner)

“On Wednesday, for the first time in a generation, the U.S. House is poised to pass new gun control legislation. … Democratic leaders say they have the votes to pass a bill requiring background checks on all commercial gun sales, including those at gun shows and over the internet. The bill also has five Republican co-sponsors, led by New York Rep. Peter King, who had tried — and failed — for several years to advance the bill while his party controlled the chamber. … Since the bill faces a steep uphill fight in the Republican-run Senate, House leadership arranged a separate vote — a day later on Thursday — on a more modest measure that may be able to attract greater bipartisan support.” (NBC News)

“The Senate on Tuesday confirmed President Trump’s nominee to be a judge on the liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in a party-line vote — and, in a historic snub, the White House ignored the input of the judge’s two Democratic home-state senators in the process. The aggressive and unprecedented move to bypass the traditional ‘blue slip’ consultation process and plow ahead with the confirmation comes as the Trump administration seeks to systematically erode left-wing dominance on the key appellate court, which Trump has called ‘disgraceful’ and politically biased.” (Fox News)

“Confidence in the media has hit rock bottom, with many news consumers believing that reporters file their reports before knowing the facts and 60 percent are under the impression that sources pay for stories, according to a depressing new survey of American journalism. The Columbia Journalism Review poll also confirmed the pending death of print newspapers and magazines and a remarkable shift to social and online media as sources of news.” (Washington Examiner)

“The United Methodist Church (UMC) voted Tuesday to maintain its traditional stance against same-sex marriage and non-celibate gay clergy, bolstered by a growing conservative contingent from Africa. The plan passed, with 438 votes in favor and 384 against (53% to 47%), in the final hours of a special UMC conference held this week in St. Louis to address the issue of human sexuality. The decision leaves a sizable, vocal opposition, ensuring the exit of many progressive pastors and churches in the largest mainstream Protestant body in the US.” (Christianity Today)

“The Pentagon has spent nearly $8 million to treat more than 1,500 transgender troops since 2016, including 161 surgical procedures… As of Feb. 1, 1,071 service members have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Public Health Service on active duty and in the reserve force. Most of them are senior enlisted personnel, but there are 20 senior officers — majors and lieutenant commanders and higher — as well.” (USA Today)

“Amazon could be facing a New York-style backlash in response to its plans for a massive second headquarters in Virginia. Inspired in part by the success of community activists and elected officials like New York Democratic Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a group of advocates calling themselves ‘For Us, Not Amazon’ is demanding that Northern Virginia reject the tech giant’s plans for a second headquarters in Arlington. … A December poll showed 68 percent of Virginians approve of the Amazon deal, while 30 percent disapprove.” (Fox News)

“The federal government on Tuesday lost its second court challenge to AT&T’s $85.4 billion merger with Time Warner, a blockbuster deal that has already begun to reshape much of the media industry. … The Justice Department, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment, could chose to appeal the case to the Supreme Court. But the agency is unlikely to take that step… AT&T can now proceed with its plan to transform WarnerMedia into a streaming-video business in its version of the television industry’s go-to strategy.” (The New York Times)

Policy: “President Trump should proceed carefully during his second meeting with Kim Jong-un, review any North Korean offer with pragmatic skepticism, and not offer any additional unilateral concessions. The Administration has already sacrificed much-needed leverage on the nuclear and human rights issues.” (The Heritage Foundation)

Policy: “President Donald Trump last fall floated the idea of ending universal birthright citizenship by way of executive order. … Ending universal birthright citizenship would help deter illegal immigration and provide substantial relief to American taxpayers. Let’s hope the president moves forward with his executive order.” (The Daily Signal)

Latins, Israel, and Hezb’allah

by Mike Konrad

{} ~ A conservative website, TruNews, had a commentator ridicule Mike Pompeo for claiming the Hezeb’allah was in Venezuela. So Mike Pompeo, the other day — I don’t know if you guys caught this… I had heard it, but it registered today — that He said that Hezb’allah is making inroads into Venezuela — TruNews on YouTube (4:18 — set to right time) Though Christian and Conservative, TruNews is critical of Zionism; and it seemed absurd to the speaker that Arab terrorists could be infiltrating South America. For those unaware, it might indeed seem crazy that Hezb’allah would be moving into South America. The culture, the religion, and the history are seemingly quite foreign to Islamic interests. However, as I have shown on my website,, Arab influence is quite enormous in Latin America, and has been around for roughly a century. As early as 1947, the Palestinians in Chile were politically powerful enough to dissuade a pro-Zionist Chilean government from voting for a partition of the British mandate, allowing for a Jewish state. Instead, Chile abstained. Today, Honduras, El Salvador, and Chile all have sizable and powerful Palestinian populations. In Chile’s case, their influence has distorted the politics of the country… Pompero statement is correct.

How the Trump Administration Should Counter Putin’s Policies in Ukraine and Venezuela

by Jiri Valenta

{} ~ America is facing two dangerous crises. In Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, the illegitimate winner of a reportedly sham election, has, with his socialist policies, created a catastrophic situation… The struggle in Venezuela between his challenger, Juan Guaidó, and him is reaching a crescendo. Millions of Venezuelans, suffering under his radical regime, have been flooding neighboring Brazil and Colombia. Yet, with the help of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Maduro is clinging to power, as Fidel Castro did in the early 1960s with the aid of Nikita Khrushchev. Putin, seeking to rescue his beleaguered client, Maduro, as well as his considerable investments in Venezuelan oil and gold, recently deployed two nuclear-capable bombers to Venezuela. In addition, hundreds of “private military contractors who do secret missions for Russia” are reportedly deployed in Venezuela. The Venezuelan crisis is also linked to a second dangerous crisis in eastern Ukraine. There, even as U.S. ships recently sailed through the Black Sea, Putin is undertaking a new destabilization policy directed at the eastern Ukrainian city of Mariupol. Why Mariupol? Putin’s main objective seems be to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and the EU. His strategy is also likely designed to weaken Ukraine, which depends on the export of coal, steel and grain through Mariupol, which is the key export port for the whole Donbas region…

Six Dems Running in 2020 Voted No On Providing Medical Care to Babies Surviving Abortion

by Rusty

{} ~ Six candidates running against President Trump in 2020 voted no to providing medical attention to babies who survive abortion, essentially leaving them to die… Republican Senator Ben Sasse introduced the bill, titled the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,” which would require doctors to administer aid to infants who survive an attempted abortion. The bill required 60 votes to pass in the Senate. It went down 53 to 44. Democrat presidential hopefuls lowlife-Kamala Harris (CA), scumbag-Cory Booker (NJ), Elizabeth dinky-Warren (MA), Amy Klobuchar (MN), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), and commie-Bernie Sanders (VT), though technically an Independent but running on the D ticket, all voted against the measure. In addition to these six blocking passage of a bill that prohibits infanticide after birth, Republican Lisa Murkowski (AK) failed to even cast a vote… 38 dems also voted against this bill and they will all be answering to God.

California Bill Would Force Pastors And Priests To Tell What They Heard In Confession

by Holly Scheer

{} ~ A new bill in California seeks to intrude on one of the most sacred relationships—that between clergy and penitent in formal confession… Currently, clergy members are already mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect, but sins confessed specifically in confession are exempt under current law from mandatory reporting. Bill 360, introduced by Democrat state Sen. Jerry Hill, would “delete that exception for a penitential communication, thereby requiring clergy to make a mandated report even if they acquired the knowledge or reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect during a penitential communication.” This is an egregious overreach of secular authority, stepping into sacred religious rites, and will not protect children or stem the tide of child abuse. It’s not hard to understand the climate spawning this bill. Constant scandals of sexual abuse within churches, internally investigated and covered up, sometimes for decades, have left a bad taste in the mouths of many. Yet this is an overreaction—a pendulum swing too far—and will only hurt more people. Upon ordination, clergy members take vows to not disclose the sins they hear during confession, and violating that oath has strong moral repercussions. For Catholic priests, “any priest who directly betrays a penitent would incur an immediate and automatic excommunication.” In the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, the ordination vows read in part:“Will you forgive the sins of those who repent, and will you promise never to divulge the sins confessed to you?”…

Senate Investigates Secret Meetings between scumbag/liar-nObama Officials and Russian Agents

by The U.S. Senate Finance Committee is investigating meetings between officials from former President scumbag/liar-nObama’s “scandal free” administration and Russian agents… Chairman of the committee Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Democrat Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon recently announced that meetings between former Federal Reserve vice chairman Stanley Fischer along with former Treasury undersecretary for international affairs Nathan Sheets and Russian Central Bank deputy governor Alexander Torshin are under investigation. Also named in the investigation is Maria Butina who was accused earlier this month of being a Russian spy with alleged links to the National Rifle Association (NRA). Butina pled guilty last December to charges of conspiracy to act as a foreign agent working for an organized Russian effort to influence U.S. politics. The Treasury Department sanctioned Torshin last April and is referenced in court records as an unindicted co-conspirator who coordinate efforts with Butina to infiltrate the NRA and “make inroads in conservative political circles to help benefit Russia.” The Center coordinated the meetings that occurred in April for the National Interest, a foreign policy think tank in Washington. The Centers bills itself as a group that exists to “improve relations between the U.S. and Russia… Why are they investigating now. Why don’t they instead investigate the scumbag.

Most Americans Would Fail a Citizenship Test

by Robin Smith: Why are Millennials embracing socialism as an acceptable philosophical approach to markets? Why is the public at large not just laughing when the political Left attempts to tie the anti-Semitism and perversion of Christianity practiced by Nazis to the political Right? Why are we seeing a growing embrace of victimhood and weakness as honorable instead of achievement and deliberate pursuits of distinguished goals? Why do individuals who refuse to value citizenship but want socialism fail to see that those coming into America illegally do so either with nefarious intent or because they are fleeing big, socialist government?

Better yet, how’d we get here to this mess and how can we make an urgent, existential correction? Believing Thomas Jefferson’s statement to be true, Americans need to think through and understand the implications: “A nation has never been ignorant and free; that has never been and will never be.”

The Wall Street Journal opined last fall over the “embarrassing” number of Americans who failed the same civics test administered to those working through the naturalization process to become a U.S. Citizens. Writing about the abysmal 19% of individuals 45 years of age or younger who successfully answered enough questions about America’s history and government to pass, the editorial board blared that this “reflects the declining state of American public schools. None of this augurs well for the future of self-government.”

No, criticism of so many of America’s public schools and our government-run education is not excessively harsh.

On Feb. 15, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, housed at Princeton University, issued a damning press release publishing results of a 50-state survey asking 41,000 Americans the same 20 questions testing civic knowledge that are part of the naturalization process. The questions ranged from inquiring how many amendments are enjoined to the U.S. Constitution to identifying one of the rights enumerated in the First Amendment to which war former President Dwight D. Eisenhower served in prior to his election.

The results were truly shameful. Only one state, Vermont, saw the majority of its participants pass — and even then, 47% failed. Had 70% or higher been deemed the passing threshold, not one state would have had a majority of individuals pass. The worst-performing state was Louisiana, with 73% who failed. That percentage climbed to 82% if you include those correctly answering as few as 12 of the 20 questions.

Simply put, the facts of history have been rewritten, the roles of history have been recast, and the value of exceptionalism has been substituted with warmed-up mediocrity as the new normal to equalize the masses. Call it indoctrination, propaganda, or some other moniker attempting to capture the breadth, width, and reach of our current chaotic conundrum, but understand one thing: The great nation of America is being destroyed by Americans, not some foreign enemy. Those rewriting history and recasting the roles, good and bad, to fit today’s culture and political agendas are truly deconstructing our nation, most knowing they must create an ignorance of just how America became great through its unique constitutional republic and individualism that breeds self-reliance and exceptionalism, ingredients that do not coexist with socialism, communism, or all the other -isms that create a permanent underclass dependent upon big government.

Americans young, old, learned, and ignorant, love and herald the demand for Liberty. Yet, most live as if the prospects of freedom are made possible by obtaining some freeze-dried packet that comes with the instructions to just add water and, voila, the benefits of living in a constitutional republic abound. The expectation of free speech exists as an ever-safe constant without an understanding of the requirement to foster, protect and ensure our enumerated rights through a free and independent people.

If generation after generation of students are told and accept as truth the myth that the government has the jurisdiction and even the duty to provide a wage without work, free health insurance, free tuition, free food, price-controlled housing, and a host of other goodies for dependents living off of other people’s money, America dies — as does every aspect of freedom enjoyed by our citizens.

As the WSJ noted, “The real threat to American freedom is the failure of current citizens to learn even the most basic facts about U.S. history and government.”

Every state needs to pass its own legislation to address the lack of history taught and the horrific proficiency of critical information about America’s truly exceptional history. Equally important, every single adult who has a child, a grandchild or some other mind malleable within reach must serve as a First Teacher to ensure our children learn and grow into citizens who are capable of what James Madison spoke of as a permanently free people who serve as guardians of true Liberty.
