Wednesday Top Headline Summary

by Media Editors: The vast majority of people who watched President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address came away with positive vibes, CBS News reports. In fact, “Seventy-six percent of Americans who tuned in … Tuesday night approved of the speech he gave. Just 24 percent disapproved.” More specifically, while just 30% of Democrats approved, that number jumps to 97% for Republicans and even 82% for independents. And here are 13 fact-checks from The Daily Signal.

Among those in attendance last night were three D-Day veterans. President Trump stated, “Here with us tonight are three of those heroes: Private First Class Joseph Reilly, Staff Sergeant Irving Locker, and Sergeant Herman Zeitchik. Gentlemen, we salute you.” (The Daily Signal)

$1 trillion deficits are on the horizon, but that was conspicuously omitted from the State of the Union. “The deficit is not a sexy issue and it’s not something that’s likely to get solved quickly,” says Reason. “And, of course, talking about something in the State of the Union Address is not the same as actually doing something. Still, the talking matters.”

Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” dinky-Warren’s claims of having Native American heritage haven’t gone over well with most people, which even resulted in her apologizing to the Cherokee Nation. But she now finds her reputation even more tarnished. In 1986, the senator “claimed American Indian ancestry in her application for the State Bar of Texas,” The Daily Wire reports. Is her presidential campaign already tomahawked?

Tax reform for the win: “On Tuesday, ExxonMobil announced it would invest a whopping $10 billion in America’s infrastructure as it develops the Golden Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Sabine Pass. According to Exxon Mobil, ‘Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2019 and the facility is expected to start up in 2024.’” (The Daily Wire)

“The U.S. government is preparing to begin construction of more border walls and fencing in South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley, likely on federally owned land set aside as wildlife refuge property,” according to the Associated Press. “Congress last March approved more than $600 million for 33 miles (53 kilometers) of new barriers in the Rio Grande Valley. While President Donald Trump and top Democrats remain in a standoff over Trump’s demand for $5.7 billion in border wall funding, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has pushed ahead with building what’s already funded.”

Abortion crackdown? “A boring, low-stress Supreme Court term just got substantially more interesting,” National Review’ David French writes. “Within two short days, we may learn a great deal about Justice Kavanaugh’s approach to abortion rights and about the willingness of the Court to roll back recent, abortion-friendly jurisprudence.”

“Pope Francis acknowledged for the first time on Tuesday that priests and bishops have sexually abused nuns and several of those clergy have been suspended. Some clergy have abused nuns to the point of ‘sexual slavery,’ the pope said, adding that the Church is addressing the problem and ‘for some time we’ve been working on it.’” (National Review)

Village academic curriculum: “New Jersey will be the second state to mandate that middle and high school students learn about LGBTQ contributions. Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed Senate Bill 1569, which requires schools to adopt curriculums that ‘accurately portray political, economic, and social contributions of persons with disabilities and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.’” (The Daily Caller)

Humor: Nancy Pulosi blinks “Please send help” in morse code during the State of the Union (The Babylon Bee)

Policy: Now that the U.S. is abrogating the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty over Russia’s rule-breaking, what’s next? The Heritage Foundation’s Thomas Callender offers up “The Way Forward for the United States in a Post-INF World.”

Policy: This week, Sen. scumbag-Patty Murray single-handedly quashed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which addresses the Democrats’ new tolerance for infanticide. Alexandra DeSanctis explains “Why a Ban on Infanticide Is Necessary” in National Review.

Policy: Heritage Foundation experts weighed in with analysis of the president’s policy proposals. Here’s what they had to say on immigration, the economy, law, defense and foreign policy, life, energy and infrastructure, health care, and education.

Trump’s State of the Union Earned Monster Positive Reviews

by Rusty

{} ~ It’s not often we get to say President Donald Trump earned rave reviews for anything – but Trump earned near-universal praise for his State of the Union speech Tuesday evening… Despite a media that will no doubt quibble over every word and phrase, and even revise their take and the general feeling of the American people days afterward, Trump earned high marks for the speech before Congress. The address earned ovation after ovation from his Republican colleagues but was probably most notable for actually getting Nancy Pulosi to applaud several times, for Democrat women standing up and celebrating the successes of their gender under this administration, and even an off-script moment where the entire chamber sang Happy Birthday to a Holocaust survivor, conducted by the President himself. The President is bound to get a major bump in approval coming out of this and as we head for another showdown over budgets and the border wall late next week. A CBS News poll indicated that 76 percent of Americans approved of the speech. And with that border-wall fight lingering, Democrats will be most dismayed to learn that a staggering 72 percent agreed with the President’s ideas to tackle legal and illegal immigration…

Ted Cruz Slams Senate Dems For Holding A ‘Theological Court Of Inquisition’ Over Trump Nominees

by Molly Prince and Tim Pearce

{} ~ Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas slammed Democrats and New Jersey Sen. scumbag-Cory Booker for displaying a “hostility to religious faith”… Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing vetting Neomi Rao for a seat on the D.C. Circuit Court. Cruz’s condemnation came after scumbag-Booker, a Democratic contender for president in 2020, questioned Rao on her view of homosexuality and LGBTQ Americans. scumbag-Booker asked Rao if she considers gay relationships to be “immoral.” The New Jersey senator attempted to clarify his point after Rao questioned the relevance of scumbag-Booker’s line of questioning. “I think it’s relevant if you think African American relationships are immoral,” scumbag-Booker said. “Do you think gay relationships are immoral?”…

Another Inspector General Investigation Outlines FBI Corruption – Another DOJ “Declined Prosecution”

by sundance

{} ~ The Office of Inspector General (OIG) completes another investigation of an FBI Supervisory Special Agent finding unlawful and unethical conduct… Unfortunately, despite the findings, the DOJ again declines prosecution. If it was the intention of FBI Director Christopher Wray and/or AAG Matt Whitaker to eliminate corrupt behavior within the leadership ranks of the DOJ/FBI; and if it was their intention to rebuild public confidence, this would not be the approach: A year ago FBI Director Christopher Wray stated he was immediately instructing all levels of FBI leadership to initiate additional training. A year ago the same OIG delivered the following summary of investigative finding within the FBI…

Iran vows to ‘teach Israel a lesson’ as response to strikes in Syria

{} ~ Iran warned Israel on Tuesday of a “firm and appropriate” response if it continued attacking targets in Syria… where Tehran has backed President Bashar Assad and his forces in their nearly eight-year war against rebels and militants. Israel, which views Iran as its biggest security threat, has repeatedly attacked Iranian targets and those of allied militia in Syria. With an election looming in April, Israel has been increasingly open about carrying out its air strikes. In a meeting with Syria’s Foreign Minister Walid al-Moalem in Tehran, the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said the Israeli attacks violated Syria’s territorial integrity and were “unacceptable”. “If these actions continue, we will activate some calculated measures as a deterrent and as a firm and appropriate response to teach a lesson to the criminal and lying rulers of Israel,” Shamkhani was quoted as saying by Fars news agency. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last month that Israeli forces would continue to attack Iranians in Syria and warned them to “get out of there” fast…

Maddow, scumbag-Schiff Dance Around Newest Trump Tower Meeting Evidence Without Acknowledging That It Refutes His Theory

by Mike Brest

{} ~ host Rachel Maddow and California Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff were discussing the latest breakthrough in the Trump Tower meeting last Thursday… but they conveniently failed to acknowledge what the new report says and how it impacts scumbag-Schiff’s theory. The Senate Intelligence Committee obtained phone records showing Donald Trump Jr. did not speak to then-candidate Donald Trump from a blocked telephone number in the days leading up to that meeting, CNN first reported. This new information contradicts scumbag-Schiff’s theory, which is also held by many other Democrats, that Trump Jr. was in contact with his father about the meeting with Russians who had offered dirt on scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton. Despite this new information, neither Maddow nor scumbag-Schiff actually acknowledged the revelations with it, only that a report came out…

U.S. Pulls Out of INF Treaty

by National Security Desk: President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the U.S. will withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) missile treaty it formed with the former Soviet Union and subsequent Russian Federation in 1987. The reason for the decision, Trump noted, was due to the fact that Russia had failed to uphold its end of the bargain. “We cannot be the only country in the world unilaterally bound by this treaty, or any other,” Trump declared.

He further added, “For arms control to effectively contribute to national security, all parties must faithfully implement their obligations. We stand ready to engage with Russia on arms control negotiations that meet these criteria, and, importantly, once that is done, develop, perhaps for the first time ever, an outstanding relationship on economic, trade, political and military levels. This would be a fantastic thing for Russia and the United States, and would also be great for the world.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo explained, “We provided Russia an ample window of time to mend its ways and for Russia to honor its commitment. Tomorrow that time runs out.” On Saturday, the U.S. formally notified Moscow that it is in “material breach” of the INF treaty and announced our withdrawal. Pompeo further noted that our NATO allies have “stood with us in our mission to uphold the rule of law and protect our people.”

This decision has been a long time coming, as the U.S. first accused Russia of failing to live up to the agreement in 2014 and has subsequently attempted 35 times to diplomatically encourage Moscow’s compliance — to no avail. So much for “collusion.” ~The Patriot Post
