Senate barrels toward showdown over Trump’s court picks

{thehill.com} ~ The Senate is bracing for an end-of-the-year brawl over President Trump’s judicial nominations… Republicans view filling the lifetime court seats as their top priority and are expected to confirm as many nominees as possible before the Senate adjourns for the year, infuriating Democrats and their allies who are powerless to stop Trump’s picks. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is already teeing up votes for two nominations — Jonathan Kobes to be an 8th Circuit Court judge and Thomas Farr to be a district court judge — for when senators return from their Thanksgiving recess. And Republicans expect McConnell to barrel through more nominations before Dec. 14, the chamber’s target date to wrap up their work for the year. “That’s Sen. McConnell’s No. 1 priority is to continue to move judges,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the second-ranking Republican. There are 35 judicial nominees available for votes on the Senate calendar, leaving more nominations than days left in the Senate’s work schedule to confirm the picks…  https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/417225-republicans-primed-to-push-through-dozens-of-trumps-court-picks

One Angry Man – Joe diGenova Skewers Goodlatte, Gowdy, McCarthy, Ryan and Rosenstein

by sundance

{theconservativetreehouse.com} ~ Former federal prosecutor Joe diGenova appears on WMAL radio for a discussion of the joint house committee issuing subpoenas… for Loretta Lynch, scumbag-James Comey and Sally Yates. diGenova brings up a good point, what happens if they just simply refuse to comply? Answer: Nothing. From diGenova’s perspective it’s chaff and countermeasures. In this interview a fired-up diGenova strongly lambasts Bob Goodlatte, Trey Gowdy, Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy for enabling a highly political Rod Rosenstein and didrty cop-Robert Mueller to cover-up the institutional corruption within the DOJ and FBI. In other words, Rosenstein’s DOJ position is any attempt to declassify the Page FISA documents is interference or obstruction of the dirty cop-Mueller investigation Russia Probe.  https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/11/19/one-angry-man-joe-digenova-skewers-goodlatte-gowdy-mccarthy-ryan-and-rosenstein/

US shuts down busiest border crossing between Mexico, California

by Anna Giaritelli

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ U.S. border officials on Monday shut down all vehicular traffic flowing north from Mexico into California at the country’s busiest border crossing… and diverted staff to help bulk up the infrastructure and security there, in anticipation of the arrival of thousands of migrants traveling in caravans from Central America. The San Ysidro port of entry, which processes 20,000 pedestrians and 70,000 vehicles moving from Tijuana to San Diego each day, closed all passenger and commercial lanes and one of its two pedestrian crossings. The port’s 26 passenger lanes and 22 pedestrian lanes see more traffic than any in the entire Western Hemisphere.”U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have temporarily suspended vehicle processing for northbound travelers at the San Ysidro port of entry Monday morning to position additional port hardening materials,” CBP, the federal agency that oversees all port activity, said in a statement issued Monday. An unspecified number of “temporary impediment measures,” or objects meant to block people from entering, including razor wire and Jersey barriers, were being set up at the port. “After the materials are in position, CBP will resume processing northbound vehicle traffic in select lanes at the border crossing,” CBP said…  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/us-shuts-down-busiest-border-crossing-between-mexico-california?utm_source=WEX_Breaking%20News%20Alert_11/19/2018&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_Breaking%20News

Election avoided? Bennett and Shaked walk back resignation threat

{jpost.com} ~ Bayit Yehudi abandoned its threat to leave the coalition if Education Minister Naftali Bennett is not made defense minister… in statements by Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked at the Knesset Monday. This development leaves Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon as the sole coalition partner calling for an early election, making it far less likely than it had seemed in recent days. Kahlon’s spokesman said the minister’s position had not changed, and he still believes a one-seat majority destabilizes the coalition and leaves it open to blackmail and “anti-fiscal bills” from backbenchers. “If the prime minister is serious in his intentions, I am saying now: We are removing all political demands and standing here to help Israel win again,” Bennett said. “It’s better that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu beat me in politics than Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh beat Israel in the battlefield.” The Bayit Yehudi leader made his statement in response to remarks Netanyahu made the night before, saying holding an election now would be irresponsible and a result of petty politics, and vowing that he is protecting Israel’s security and he has a plan of action against Hamas. Bennett and Shaked backed down after a week in which the Knesset seemed headed for an election, with Avigdor Liberman resigning from the Defense Ministry and pulling Yisrael Beytenu from the coalition, and Bennett immediately demanded to replace him. Netanyahu said there is no need for an election, but Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon called for an election to take place as soon as possible, and Interior Minister Arye Deri and Bennett joined the call. But Deri retreated from his remarks on Sunday, and on Monday, Bennett did the same…  https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Election-avoided-Bennett-and-Shaked-walk-back-resignation-threats-572245?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=20-2-2018&utm_content=election-avoided-bennett-and-shaked-walk-back-resignation-threats-572245

Lincoln and Thanksgiving: The Origin of an American Holiday

by Melanie Kirkpatrick

{prageru.com} ~ The very first Thanksgiving happened almost 400 years ago—long before the nation was born… How did it evolve into America’s quintessential national holiday? Credit largely goes to two people—one, a name you know; the other, you’ve probably never heard—but should. Melanie Kirkpatrick, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, gives us the run-down on how a harvest party between Pilgrims and Indians became our oldest national tradition.  https://www.prageru.com/videos/lincoln-and-thanksgiving-origin-american-holiday

Undermining Democracy,’ Democrat Style

by Nate Jackson: Nearly two weeks after Election Day, Democrats Stacey Abrams and socialist-Andrew Gillum conceded (socialist-Gillum for the second time after reneging) their respective races for governor, and Sen. scumbag-Bill Nelson has given in to mathematical reality in the Florida Senate race. Despite recounts (including by hand in the Senate contest), lawsuits, judicial activism, a serially corrupt Democrat election official in Broward County, and nonstop Leftmedia hoopla, all three Democrats failed in their attempts to steal election victories. But they did succeed in one critical goal: subverting election integrity in the minds of their constituents.

As we said Friday, Russian efforts to influence the 2016 election have nothing on Democrat schemes to undermine election integrity.

Clearly, Florida has some work to do to shore up election laws. But Georgia may be the more troublesome state. Abrams rose to prominence by running massive voter registration drives in order to flood Secretary of State Brian Kemp’s office with perhaps fraudulent registrations, only to cry racism when Kemp, who also happened to be her gubernatorial opponent, worked to sort it out.

That narrative is so key to her entire campaign that she isn’t going to let it go in defeat. She’s launching a political action committee called Fair Fight Georgia, which she will use to wage a legal battle. “Let’s be clear: This is not a speech of concession,” Abrams said. “In the coming days, we will be filing a major federal lawsuit against the state of Georgia for the gross mismanagement of this election and to protect future elections from unconstitutional actions.”

In her speech announcing she wouldn’t actually concede but rather found “no further viable remedy,” Abrams also expounded her narrative: “Trust in our democracy relies on believing that there are good actors who are making this happen. And [Brian Kemp] was a horrible actor who benefited from his perfidy. That’s problematic. … Will I say this election was not tainted, was not a disinvestment and a disenfranchisement of thousands of voters? I will not say that.” Abrams admonished her supporters not to give up just because the process was “as rotten and rigged as you’ve always believed.”

Furthermore, the abortion-supporting Abrams added, “Something being legal does not make it right.”

Georgia voters best prepare for future election cycles to replay this manufactured grievance, as Democrats work to rally their urban Atlanta base with fairy tales of voter suppression in hopes of turning the Peach State blue.

P.S. Remember when Democrats lambasted Donald Trump for musing that he might not accept the 2016 election results if scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s corruption and voter fraud won the day? Those same Democrats went on to create a two-year narrative of “Russian collusion” to undermine Trump’s victory. They’re using that playbook again in Georgia. “If [Abrams] had a fair election, she … would have won,” scumbag/liar-Clinton declared. As usual, scumbag/liar-Clinton’s account of What Happened isn’t exactly reliable. ~The Patriot Post
