We’re glad the EPA is moving forward with efforts to eliminate the use of “secret science” to support questionable regulations, but it’s only a first step. The President use his power to mandate, by means of Executive Order, the use of only the highest quality evidence – meaning publicly available, reproducible and peer-reviewed – in creating and issuing regulations across the entire Federal government.

It’s no surprise that advocates of bigger government are screaming bloody murder about the common-sense EPA rule – expensive, intrusive and unnecessary regulations can only be advanced by hiding the truth about their high costs and doubtful benefits. If the Administration is going to rightly invest its political capital in advancing the EPA’s rule, it should establish the same principles to all rule-making processes for the sake of accountability and the benefit of the American people and business community.
