One of the most crucial races to determine who controls the United States Senate is being fought in Indiana. Congressman Todd Young won the primary race to decide who the Republican nominee would be to succeed retiring U.S. Senator Dan Coats.
He is being challenged by former Senator Evan Bayh.
Bayh is a part of the Bayh political family. There are only two groups in American culture that are known as “families.” One is the mafia and the other is politicians. They both rank about the same.
Bayh was a two term Senator who abruptly announced he would not seek reelection in 2010. Perhaps the reason he would not seek reelection was because he was the 60th vote for Obamacare in 2010. At the time, in 2010, the Republicans were filibustering any attempt to bring Obamacare up. Arlen Spector, the then Pennsylvania Senator switched parties and briefly the Democrats had a supermajority in the Senate. They passed Obamacare and we can than Evan Bayh for that.
Bayh left the Senate, went into private practice as a lawyer and a lobbyist and was rewarded by the corporate interests that supported Obamacare.
This year, when it looked like the Democrats would be slaughtered in Indiana, the Democrats pulled a switch and Baron Hill, their hapless and unknown candidate was pulled and Evan Bayh took his place as the Democrat nominee for the Senate.
Todd Young has a fairly conservative record. The American Conservative Union gives him an 88.
As we watch the train wreck that is the Presidential election, the race to control the Senate becomes paramount. If Democrats control the Senate, regardless of who is in the White House, the result will be chaos, confusion and an all-out assault on American liberty.
Our only hope this year is to elect Republicans to control the US Senate. This year there are some good Republican candidates and some Republican candidates who are needed simply to stop the Democrats.
Todd Young qualifies as a good Republican. We need him to defeat Evan Bayh in Indiana. We don’t need the 60th vote for Obamacare, back in the Senate.
Tea Party Nation endorses Todd Young for the United States Senate.
