Thursday News Executive Summary

Jordan Candler  Above the Fold

Reason reports that expenditures at the Centers for Disease Control are up from $590 million in 1987 to $8 billion as of last year. “But spending nearly 14 times as much … did not, apparently, help the CDC combat the emergence of the biggest disease threat America has faced in a century,” the author says. Citing a new Competitive Enterprise Institute report, the author goes on to note that “inflating the CDC’s budget may have weakened the agency’s ability to handle its core responsibility by giving rise to mission creep and bureaucratic malaise.” If there are CDC failures in the coronavirus response, they can’t be laid at Trump’s feet. Rather, they are the corollaries of a bloated bureaucracy.

According to, “Federal Judge Emmet G. Sullivan late Wednesday issued a stunning ruling in the prosecution of Michael Flynn, President Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor. The two-pronged order (1) appoints a former federal judge to argue against dismissing the case; and (2) considers holding Flynn in criminal contempt for perjury.” Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley observes, “The court is not only considering denying an uncontested motion for dismissal but considering a new charge based on Flynn’s effort to withdraw his plea. Consider the implications for many cases where defendants seek to withdraw pleas due to prosecutorial abuse. It would create a threat of a judicial charge even when prosecutors agree with defendants.” Law professor Alan Dershowitz also calls it “an unconstitutional judicial power grab.”

Following Tara Reade interview, Megyn Kelly tells Glenn Beck that loose lips liar-Joe Biden allegation is a ‘haunting case’ — and victim-shamers are ‘disgusting’

by SARAH TAYLOR{ } ~ News veteran Megyn Kelly appeared on “The Glenn Beck Program” on BlazeTV and discussed her recent interview with loose lips liar-Joe Biden sexual assault accuser Tara Reade…  Reade claims that loose lips liar-Biden penetrated her with his fingers against her will while the two met in a Senate basement hallway in 1993. loose lips liar-Biden, however, has insisted that while all women should be believed, the incident Reade alleges simply never took place. During a Tuesday sit-down with Glenn Beck on “The Glenn Beck Program” on BlazeTV, Kelly detailed key parts of her interview with Reade, which she said contains some very credible allegations by Reade. Beck said Kelly was extremely thorough in her discussion with Reade, with “no question left on the table.” “How did you find Reade personally?” Beck asked. Kelly, who said Reade was “delightful,” pointed out that Reade is only just getting started in her fight against loose lips liar-Biden but seems determined to see it through. “She was perfectly kind, warm; she’s been through the wringer. You could see that, too.” Kelly said. “This is not a woman of great means. And, you know, when I got to her, she had, I think, the night before hired — well, not hired. She’s not paying him. Gotten a lawyer and a PR person, for the first time in this whole thing. So she, for the first time, felt a little more steady. You know, she’s had no protection. And she’s out there. She’s on a very thin reed.” Kelly explained that Reade, because of the accusations, has taken the full force of social media’s angst. Social media, in turn, has dredged up all sorts of alleged information that is irrelevant to the case and seems only to be circulating such personal information in an attempt to smear Reade and her credibility…

House Democrats unveil $3 trillion coronavirus relief package, vote scheduled for Friday

by Susan Ferrechio{ } ~ House Democrats Tuesday introduced a new round of coronavirus legislation costing more than $3 trillion that would provide a historic level of federal aid to those hurt by the pandemic… Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi will announce the HEROES Act Tuesday afternoon and has scheduled a Friday vote on the legislation. The measure provides $1 trillion to state, local, municipal, and tribal governments to help them keep operating without the tax revenue lost because of the economic shutdown. The measure provides $200 billion in “hazard pay” for those working in grocery stores, medical facilities, and other front-line jobs; a new round of $1,200 direct payments to individuals; and an extension to January of the $600 in extra unemployment insurance benefits now provided to those who lost jobs in the pandemic. The measure also calls for $175 billion to pay for rent, mortgages, utilities, and other housing costs for those who cannot pay. It would also increase food stamp benefits by 15%.The measure adds $25 billion to bail out the U.S. Postal Service, which is badly in debt and threatening that it cannot continue functioning without a new infusion of federal aid. The measure stands little chance of passing the Senate. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, has labeled the measure a partisan wish list. McConnell and President Trump said they will wait several weeks before deciding what kind of spending package to consider next and said it must include lawsuit liability reforms, which are not part of the package Democrats unveiled Tuesday.

RNC Launches Fight Against Dem’s Vote-by-Mail Scheme

by ~ As the 2020 presidential election rapidly approaches, Democrats continue to push for a universal vote-by-mail election system… They say the process is necessary due to COVID-19. While this system may appear to protect citizens from a public health crisis, it drastically increases the chances of voter fraud. In an effort to fight the Democrats’ election agenda, The Republican National Committee (RNC) has created a digital platform called “Protect the Vote.” The website states Democrats are using the current pandemic as a tool to legalize ballot harvesting, establish a mail-in-ballot election system nationwide, and eliminate election safeguards that are currently in place. Dems argue that asking voters to risk their health by showing up in person vote is simply irresponsible. Speaker of the House, liar-Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), even tried adding such election measures into the recently passed COVID-19 relief bill saying, “we have to think big.” But, Republicans say the Dems’ agenda isn’t about the protection of voters. Instead, they’re looking to defeat President Trump in the upcoming election. There’s no doubt that COVID-19 will play a huge role in the 2020 presidential election. A question we must all ask ourselves as voters is this: If states’ economies are reopening and social-distancing orders are still being implemented, why can’t citizens safely go to the voting polls? It’s just something to think about.

What we still don’t know about the Michael Flynn case

by Byron York{ } ~ The Michael Flynn case will soon be over. It began on Jan. 24, 2017, just four days into the Trump administration, when two FBI agents went to the White House to interview Flynn, then the brand-new national security adviser… Ignoring protocol, they questioned him about a phone call he had a few weeks before, during the transition, with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. By the end of the year, Flynn had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in that interview. Now, the Justice Department has moved to drop the charges, and a judge will soon accept that decision. But before the Flynn matter recedes into history, there is more the public needs to learn about it. Specifically, the public needs to know more details about the way the FBI handled the politically sensitive case. And even more specifically, how do we know what Flynn said in that interview on Jan. 24? In accordance with usual FBI practice, the interview was not recorded. The agents took notes during the interview and were supposed to return to the office to write up what was said. The write-up is a form known as the FD-302. FBI rules give agents five working days to finalize the document. If someone is going to be charged with lying to the FBI, it will be on the basis of what is in the 302. There’s no recording, and there are no other witnesses in the room. If an interview subject claims not to have said something, the proof otherwise is the 302 and the agents’ word. So, the 302 is obviously critical if the Justice Department chooses to charge someone for lying in an FBI interview. That’s why it is important to know the tortured history of the Flynn 302. In the Flynn case, nothing worked as it should have. Nothing. It is believed that one of the two agents who interviewed Flynn, whose identity has, remarkably, never been publicly revealed but has been widely reported to be an agent named Joe Pientka, wrote a 302 shortly after the interview. That recollection, the freshest memory possible, is usually regarded as the most reliable version of what was said in the interview. Here is the amazing thing: Flynn’s defense has never seen the original 302. Never. Flynn, under enormous pressure from Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI without ever reading what Pientka originally wrote about the interview. Instead, the FBI almost immediately began editing the Flynn 302. Pientka’s partner in the interview, Peter Strzok, remembered as the agent dismissed from the Mueller special counsel investigation for his anti-Trump texts with extramarital lover and senior FBI official Lisa Page, took the lead. On Feb. 10, after the FBI’s five-working-day limit expired, Strzok did what was apparently a major editing job on the Flynn 302, and he also incorporated edits suggested by Page, who had not been present at the interview. In a text message, Strzok said, “I was trying not to completely re-write the thing so as to save REDACTED voice.” It’s thought that the redacted name was Pientka’s. The finished document was dated Feb. 14, 2017, which just happened to be the day after Flynn was fired by the White House…

DOJ Official: “We Do Not Intend To Release The Unmasking List”

by sundance{  } ~ First things first: ♦Understand scumbag/liar-nObama’s Surveillance Operation ♦Michael Flynn wasn’t unmasked, nor under a FISA (Title-1) That’s the background… After Acting DNI Richard “Ric” Grenell delivered a volume of declassified intelligence records to Attorney General Bill Barr it was reported that Grenell delivered a file showing the intelligence unmaskers from the swcumbag/liar-nObama administration; pending Barr release. Today ABC is reporting from senior DOJ officials “”we do not intend to release the unmasking list” that Grenell brought over to the building last week.”Considering the content of the files likely delivered to AG Barr it is worth remaining patient. No-one is more cynical than me about DOJ hiding stuff; but this ain’t that. Kevin Corke and Adam Housley are both reporting the documents delivered by Grenell extend beyond unmasking; their reporting makes sense. The bigger topic is political surveillance. The surveillance encompassed numerous intelligence equities…

 Collusion Case Collapses

 Gary Bauer

The alleged case of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign has utterly collapsed. This isn’t exactly breaking news, but it is absolutely essential that the American people know the truth about their president and his persecutors in Congress and within the Deep State.Earlier this week, acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell notified Rep. scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, that 6,000 pages of deposition transcripts taken during scumbag/liar-Schiff’s investigation of alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 campaign were ready for release.scumbag/liar-Schiff response? He’s not ready to release the transcripts.Sources tell Fox News that the transcripts all show the same thing: “Not one of the 53 witnesses could provide evidence of collusion.” And, of course, we know that Special Counsel Robert Mueller came up empty-handed, too. Here’s the bottom line: scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff lied. He has lied repeatedly to the American people about FISA abuse and his contacts with Eric Ciaramella and other witnesses in the impeachment charade.Remember, the House Intelligence Committee interviews were taking place while scumbag/liar-Schiff was going on national talk shows every Sunday saying things like this, “Yes, there’s ample evidence of collusion in plain sight.”Well, there never was any evidence of collusion, and one witness after another — 53 of them in total — told Mr. scumbag/liar-Schiff just that. Yet he and liar-Nancy Pelosi and the left-wing media and their Deep State allies kept pushing a false narrative to the American people that their president was a traitor. No one with scumbag/liar-Schiff’s record of deceit should be anywhere near the Intelligence Committee, much less leading the Intelligence Committee! The lesson of Watergate was that no one, not even the president, was above the law. Certainly, no president can be below the law.As Attorney General Barr recently said:I think the president has every right to be frustrated, because I think what happened to him was one of the greatest travesties in American history. Without any basis [the FBI] started this investigation of his campaign, and even more concerning, actually is what happened after the campaign … to sabotage the presidency.Every American — Republican, Democrat, independent — should be outraged by this coordinated attempt to smear, undermine, and overturn a duly elected president and his administration.National Day of PrayerYesterday was the 69th annual National Day of Prayer. President Trump issued a proclamation commemorating the importance of this day. Here is an excerpt:Today, as much as ever, our prayerful tradition continues as our Nation combats the coronavirus… In the midst of these trying and unprecedented times, we are reminded that just as those before us turned to God in their darkest hours, so must we seek His wisdom, strength, and healing hand…May we never forget that prayer guides and empowers our Nation and that all things are possible with God. In times of prosperity, strife, peace, and war, Americans lean on His infinite love, grace, and understanding. Today, on this National Day of Prayer, let us come together and pray to the Almighty that through overcoming this coronavirus pandemic, we develop even greater faith in His divine providence.I couldn’t help but reflect on how the National Day of Prayer was treated during the scumbag/liar-nObama years. The hostility toward the event was so overt, it was scandalous.Barack scumbag/liar-nObama canceled the White House events, and when Franklin Graham was invited to speak at the Pentagon, progressive allies of the scumbag/liar-nObama/loose lips liar-Biden White House forced the Army to cancel his event. What a contrast to the Trump/Pence White House, which has hosted National Day of Prayer events every year. That’s just one reason among many why the Trump/Pence administration continues to receive such strong support from the evangelical community, as I explained in an interview with The Western Journal. The Shutdown’s Health RisksMany progressive politicians are constantly suggesting that it is too soon to reopen the country because coronavirus is still out there and more people may get infected. Well, we can’t hide in our homes forever, and it may not even work anyway.Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared that he was “shocked” to learn that 66% of new COVID hospitalizations involved people who have been observing social isolation. “This is a surprise: Overwhelmingly, the people were at home,” Cuomo said.Who knows how they got infected, but perhaps we have reached the point of diminishing returns. Moreover, medical experts are also beginning to ask serious questions about the negative health risks associated with the ongoing shutdown. As we noted yesterday, preliminary research suggests that many Americans have not been getting the medical care they needed over the past six to eight weeks. For example, there has been a 45% to 66% drop in chemotherapy treatments and 70% to 90% drop in new cancer screenings. The study suggests that nearly 34,000 “more people will die of cancer due to lost healthcare services during the coronavirus shutdown.”Emergency room doctors are reporting a disturbing lack of heart attack and stroke patients. Why? Because people are afraid to go to the hospital, and they are dying at home.Millions of people around the world are expected to develop tuberculosis and die as a result of the shutdown.Former Food and Drug Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb, who has been somewhat of an alarmist on COVID, warned yesterday that he fears a significant measles outbreak later this year because many parents are not taking their children to routine pediatrician visits. Last year, measles killed more than 140,000 people around the world.“So there’s a public health consequence on the other side of this, and we have to start weighing those and asking ourselves just how much we’re willing to tolerate,” Gottlieb said. That’s a very good question, and one the American people will likely have to settle at the ballot box this November.God Bless Texas!Yesterday we told you about the case of salon owner Shelley Luther, who was sent to jail for reopening her business so she and her employees could feed their children.I am pleased to report that the Texas Supreme Court has ordered Luther to be released, and Gov. Greg Abbott has issued an executive order ensuring that jail time “is not a punishment for violating” coronavirus restrictions.Just another clear contrast in the way conservative and progressive politicians are handling this crisis.Elections have consequences, my friends. Just ask Shelley Luther! If she were in California, Illinois, or New York, she’d still be in jail.  ~The Patriot Post
