IT WAS GETTING HEATED , WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL (1958-62). I JOINED THE MARINE CORPS IN JUNE 1962 AND WENT TO PARRIS ISLAND, CAMP GEIGER AND THEN TO CAMP LEJEUNE (6TH MARINES) AND I RAN INTO THE MOST HOSTILE BUNCH OF BLACKS FROM "PHILLY", CHICAGO, NEW YORK, ETC. ALL THEY HAD TO HEAR WAS MY ALABAMA "TWANG" AND THEY WANTED TO BEAT MY BRAINS OUT (ALWAYS 5 TO 1) IN THEIR FAVOR..."VERY BRAVE" (-:) GROUP. I WAS QUITE HANDY WITH A "POCKET KNIFE" SO I KEPT THEM FROM KILLING ME.

WENT ON UNTIL 1966, WHEN I LEFT THE CORPS AND RETURNED HOME TO ATTEND COLLEGE ON THE GI BILL.

CAROLE, I TOLD A FRIEND, THE OTHER DAY, THAT "I HAVE TAKEN ALL THE CRAP I WILL TAKE FROM BLACKS (IN THE 1960s). IF THEY THINK THEY WILL IMPOSE ON ME, MY FAMILY, MY FRIENDS OR MY NEIGHBORS...THEY ARE WRONG. THIS OLD MARINE (67) WILL"PUIT SOMETHING ON THEM THAT AJAX WON'T TAKE OFF.

THEY ARE A "BUNCH OF COWARDS" THAT WILL TRY TO RUN OVER THE ELDERLY, FEMALE AND CHILDREN...BUT THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN ON MY WATCH.
