"I wanted to give you all some disturbing information on our wonderful president. I work with the Catch-A-Dream Foundation which provides hunting and fishing trips to children with life-threatening illnesses. This past weekend we had our annual banquet / fundraiser event in Starkville . "As a part of our program, we had scheduled Sgt. 1st Class Greg Stube, a highly decorated U.S. Army Green Beret and inspirational speaker who was severely injured while deployed overseas and didn't have much of a chance for survival to come. Greg is stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and received permission from his commanding officer to come speak at our function. Everything was on go until Obama made a policy that NO U.S. SERVICEMAN CAN SPEAK AT ANY FAITH-BASED PUBLIC EVENTS ANYMORE. Needless to say, Greg had to cancel his speaking event with us.. Didn't know if anyone else was aware of this new policy. Wonder what kind of news we all will receive next. You're just starting to see the Obamanation. Your religion is on the list next. I don't know about you, but this makes me furious.

What a rotten thing to do by the "commander-in-chief". And I'm afraid we ain't seen nothin yet!

Actually, this is codefied guidence for DoD employees, and would fallow into the military:

an except:

There are only two exceptions under which a DoD employee could be associated with a fundraising event in her official capacity. First, under 5 C.F.R. § 2635.808(a)(2), an employee may merely attend a fundraising event as long as the organization does not use the fact of her attendance to promote the event.
Second, under 5 C.F.R. § 2635.808(a)(2) & (3), an employee may deliver an official speech, which is one given in an official capacity on a subject matter that relates to her official duties. This may include the employee's own official duties; the responsibilities, programs, or operations of the agency; or matters of Administration policy on which the employee is authorized to speak. The employee may not request donations or any other support for the organization. Further, the employee's agency must first determine that the event provides an appropriate forum for the dissemination of the information

Tne contents of the original post have been listed as a hoax on varying sites, the DoD document excerpted above appears to back up this determination. One of the better reviews of the incident is on Factcheck.org, where they provide links to the pertinet army and DoD regulations.

Hardly a democrat Gary, just someone who feels that there is enough bad things the Democrat party and Mr Obama have done, don't need to push stories that are easily discredited. If we can discredit it, our opponet will certainly do so, and with a much bigger voice

Kevin, You must be a Demoncrat, opps, democrap, opps, dem...what ever.....no u.s. serviceman is how it is stated. Not in uniform or out of uniform. The uniform law has been in action since before I was in the military in the 60's. This is something totally different. NOT a Good thing at all......

Actually, Servicemen are prohibited from fundraising activities while on duty and in Uniform, reguardless of the organization. They can appear on thier own time and out of uniform, which many do. I imagine that part of this is to retain the image of neutrality of the military even when it does or does not agree with the cause.
