WHATEVER THE MARKET WILL BEAR - ATTENTION: WE are "THE MARKET"

Here's the deal, from the "HERE'S HOW MUCH POWER WE HAVE DEPARTMENT":

If we refused to pay anymore than $20 for a sport team's jersey, just straight up collectively stopped buying jerseys unless they are on sale for $20 or less, guess what would happen.
No, go on, guess. I'm waiting...

Eventually ALL sports teams would lower their prices to "Whatever the market will bear", which would be, by our own behavior, $20 or less. Look at Ebay, which is a perfect example of We, the People controlling the market and determining what "The Market" will bear.

We the People have power. We could control the market if we ever got together and agreed on a few things. For example, decent sea food is so exorbitantly overpriced because seafood brokers pay fisherman CRAP for their product and OVERCHARGE all of us. If we stopped paying $35 for a lobster tail, eventually the price would come down (in a hurry, when they have to start throwing away spoiled lobster tails that don't sell) to whatever the market will bear. WE, THE PEOPLE determine "Whatever the market will bear". WE are "the market".

Get it yet? Exercise your power. Stop paying TOO MUCH for TOO MANY THINGS and the prices will come down. Cars, houses, food - we control the market. We're so divided by race, religion, political party affiliation, age, etc. that we give all of our power to the Money Changers. It doesn't have to be this way.
Our current (P)resident, the new Divider-in-Chief, has done well to split us all up and pit us one American against another. Blacks against Whites have turned many blacks into racists, still dwelling on the past. No one alive today was ever a slave, and yet many blacks still carry the resentment as if they were personally forced to toil in the cotton fields with no pay. Spiritual and emotional maturity will cure that victim-hood, and new black role models like Dr. Benjamin Carson do nothing but empower the black community and levels the playing field with Whites and Asians and Hispanics - you know, like the playing field REALLY is, when we're not playing "The Victim".

As a small town boy (Sebastopol, CA), born and raised, I'm still surprised when I see blacks or whites spouting racist rants. When I was 16 years old, I was so certain that racism would die with our generation (Baby Boomers), but then, as I got into my twenties, I realized that Racists are still raising little racists. Kids turn out far too much like their parents, too much of the time and when racism is voiced and/or practiced in the home, by Whites or Blacks, their kids all-too-often adopt those same racist views.

But I digress - My point is that We, the People control the market. As long as the well-to-do keep paying $35,000 for an American car, then American cars are going to sell for $35,000. As soon as We, the People refuse to pay that much for an American car (which, due to the intentional planned obsolescence practiced by American car companies, I have to wonder why ANYONE would buy a car that will likely wear out at 100,000 miles instead of getting a Japanese, German, Korean or British automobile for the same price that commonly wear out at 300,000 miles...but I digress again), then American car prices will begin to fall...to whatever price We, the People are willing to pay.

They don't teach us how much power we have over "The Market" in school. They don't teach us the value of practicing Christian principles, either. In fact... but I'm not going to digress again. LOL

We, the People can control American politics, but we need to (1) communicate with one another, (2) agree on who we're going to send to Washington and (3) follow through with our agreements. And we should. We can throw every crooked politician out of DC in one election cycle (http://theRealCandidates.com) but we need to start using social media as a communication tool. Not just for ranting or bragging, but for unifying with one another.

We can control prices, to a great degree, as well. I can't sell you a hammer for $25 if you aren't willing to pay me $25 for it. I will have to lower my price (Ebay is a perfect example of We, the People controlling The Market) until you agree on the price and are willing to pay it. Too many of us seem to think we're slaves to The Market, when in Reality, we ARE The Market. That isn't taught much in school either, at least, not to the degree that we all get it, and own our power.

We determine 'whatever the market will bear' because we are the market. Businesses have taken that control from us because we have given that control away. We aren't victims. We are volunteers. And we can take our power back whenever we can agree to do so, but it needs to be a collective effort.

Are we tired of being taken advantage of yet? For those who are intelligent enough to catch that, you're right - how can anyone be taken advantage of when we volunteer for the duty? A better question is "Are we tired of giving our power away yet?"

Well, are we?

There's widespread price fixing going and importers of products are price gouging consumers. If enough people would refuse to pay pseudo-inflated prices, they would fall or businesses would fail. But with all the money printing and government subsidies going to business, how effective lack of demand would be is questionable. I see truck stops continue to raise prices. The checkout lines have disappeared and products are barely selling, but they keep raising prices. They've lost most of my business.

I meant "...we could definitely influence it..."

To a great degree, I agree with you on all of this. I'm not convinced that we could completely control the market, but we definitely influence it to a great degree if we would get off our lazy asses and make a concerted effort to do so.
