I am a young Christian college coed that will soon be in the real world looking for a job and have adult responsibilities. I accept those responsibilities and that I could suffer consequences if I do not meet them. This includes my responsibility when it comes to my health. But as a young Christian woman I have a firm belief system that is rooted deeply not only in the Bible itself but the beloved church that I have grown up in. I am concerned with the Obama Admisnisrtation's disregard of the Christian Church and as leader of this country it is his duty to stand up for our rights and not to crush them as he is doing now. My faith is fundamental to my identity and I value it immensely. So when I have seen an assault on religion that we have seen from the Obama Administration I makes me want to get to work more than ever to take my country back.
The Catholic Church has had a long time stance against Birth Control. So I question a woman who attends a Catholic university and then wants them to pay for her birth control. There are plenty of law schools around this country that are just as prestigious and will provide with a quality education that WILL provide her birth control. She clearly made the mistake in choosing Georgetown Law School unless she has an ulterior motive. She has a right to take Birth Control and it is not the business of the government or the Catholic Church (given she is clearly not Catholic) of what she does in her spare time.
Furthermore, Planned Parenthood and other health clinics across the nation, and I have no doubt that there are not some in the D.C. area, that will provide her the Birth Control Pill at little to no cost to her because at the very least she falls in the low income group. Not to mention that it is highly unlikely that each month's pills cost $250 a month $25 maybe.
If this young woman wants to engage in sexual activity and thinks that the Birth Control Pill is the best contraceptive then she needs to take responsibility for her decision and adjust her monthly budget so she can pay for it. However, if she paid attention in the sexual education classes and the commercials for hormonal birth control she would know that Birth Control does not protect against any STDs. So if she wants to participate in "safe sex" then she needs to find a different form of contraception that will keep her completely protected.
By having this young woman testify in a Democratic Party only hearing that has no bearing on the proceedings of Congress then it is merely a ploy by her and other liberal activists to force views and actions on others. It is in America that we have a right to practice whatever religion we choose and last time I checked the Catholic Church has been a long time accepted religion and church that has been well established here and therefore has the right to act in the name of God how they believe and see fit.
If the Catholic Church is forced into submission as those on the left want then religion as we know it and the ability to practice faith will be forever under attack.
