We are fighting three world wars.
Our enemies want to destroy us by any means. They’re bankrupting our nation—they’re attacking our beliefs—they’re shooting at us.
First, our economy is under attack from both domestic and foreign enemies.
Democrat-Socialists (Communists), inside our country, want to bankrupt our nation to destroy our free enterprise system.
For example, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanky, who enjoys President Obama’s support, simply cannot stop printing dollars. This results in an increase in the price of oil to adjust to a devalued dollar. The world buys oil with dollars.
Higher gasoline prices will kill our economy. Without affordable energy, our country will surely default on the national debt.
If we allow it, these Communists will turn us all into a nation of beggars, and our enemies would love to bring us to our knees.
On the other hand, the Chinese devalue their currency and flood our nation with cheap exports. They employ a two-pronged strategy. Firstly, they finance a major portion of our national debt, and secondly, where they prevent our companies from selling in China.
I suspect it won’t be long before the Chinese come to collect.
In the second war we’re fighting, the Communists in our country create racial and class divisions to promote their leftist agenda and attack our nation’s fundamental beliefs. These attacks weaken our nation’s social and moral fabric.
These traitors want to weaken our Constitution. They want to tear down our financial institutions and end our way of life.
They’re confiscating our nation’s wealth and redistributing it to the ignorant and the lazy through welfare entitlements.
They know a bankrupt and divided nation cannot remain militarily strong.
Remember a bankrupt Soviet Union collapsed when they could no longer finance their armed forces.
Globally—our cold war enemies—Russia, China and Cuba have always attacked our beliefs in liberty. These countries use the United Nations, which we fund and host, to promote their politics, and undermine our national security.
Moreover, they have aligned their politics with the shooting war we’re fighting against terror to create more obstacles for our nation.
Their goals have not changed—they want to enslave us.
Take a brief look at a map of the Middle East and Near Asia. You’ll find it shows our combat troops encircled by a fanatical enemy.
Syria and Palestine flank our troops in Iraq, with Lebanon to the West and Iran to the East. All these nations are terrorist states.
In Afghanistan, our soldiers contend with Iran to the West and Pakistan, China and Russian satellites to the East.
Contrary to what Obama believes, these nations are not our friends.
The recent street riots in Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia can only lead to more problems for our troops in the area.
I’m not a military strategist, but I would say that in the Middle East our forces appear scattered and surrounded. This situation has the making of a potential catastrophe.
Interestingly, Wikileaks recently published that Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, the guy our president bows to, asked us to invade Iran. Other documents revealed the good king is funding Al Qaeda.
Funding Al Qaeda, huh?
Do you think that perhaps King Abdullah secretly wanted to trick us into scattering our forces in the region?
In South Korea, our troops have the Sea of Japan to their rear and a million men North Korean Army to their front.
It’s no secret North Korea and Iran has nuclear weapons. Contrary to what our government wants us to believe, there are no negotiations that can deter these countries from building, keeping and exporting these weapons.
Why, you might ask? Our President is weak. He’s a Community Organizer playing Eunuch-in-Chief.
Think about this: If you had a nuclear bomb will you readily give it up? You would be a fool if you did!
Having said that and continuing our world tour, in South and Central America there’s strong Cuban influence. Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil and Nicaragua all turned Communist.
A former Marxist guerrilla fighter, Dilma Rousseff, became Brazil’s first woman president New Year’s (2011).
It’s no secret that Russia, China and Cuba supply highly advanced weaponry to all these countries.
Russia’s involvement, as with Iran, in the nuclear ambitions of Venezuela and Brazil should alarm our government leaders. Instead, we sign and ratify nuclear disarmament pacts, whoopee!
However, don’t be alarmed; I’m sure the nuclear fuel is only for “peaceful purposes.” (Read: Be very alarmed!)
In Central America, China is managing the Panama Canal’s Pacific Ports. The Chinese are widening the canal to navigate their super tankers, loaded with petroleum, across to the Atlantic Ocean.
Do you think these super tankers might one day also transport Chinese combat troops?
Then there’s our Southern border with Mexico, which only God knows how many terrorists cross over every day.
By now, I think you get the picture: We’re fighting half the world to survive as a people and as a nation.
Do you get the feeling, as I do, that our present troop strength may not be enough to fight all our enemies?
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have caused significant stress to our combat troops. Most soldiers have served two or more tours of combat duty. These assignments inflict mental, psychological and physical wounds, wounds a quick debriefing will not heal. The suicide rate among combat troops is at the highest that it has ever been.
And, instead of focusing on winning these wars, the Communist cowards running our government talk of withdrawing our troops in the name of peace.
Simply put, politicians cannot win wars.
If we’re not prepared to fight, our country will find peace alright; the peace that only the dead enjoy.
Our enemies are betting the economic and political wars our nation is fighting will cause us to lose the shooting war.
And, we won’t win the next shooting war, unless we build a stronger military force. Our country needs capable military leaders, who want to win wars.
We have the resolve and the weapons to win the war on terror. We must destroy our enemies, NOW.
Forget world opinion. Forget political correctness. Forget civility.
We must build a stronger military.
So I ask you, “Is it time to bring back the military draft?”
It is critical to our survival as a free nation to regain a powerful military stance in the world. We can’t achieve this without a military draft.
There are many benefits in bringing back the military draft:
1. It will strengthen our nation’s defenses.
2. It will ensure our young men and women are trained in the art of war.
3. It will make our nation better prepared to meet all future threats.
4. It will give our nation’s youth an opportunity to learn their civic duties and respect for their freedoms.
5. It will decrease unemployment of our young people.
6. It will allow our young to learn valuable occupational skills.
7. It will build character in our nation’s youth.
The military draft will result in our armed forces mirroring the makeup of our nation’s civilian population. A pluralistic armed force will make it more difficult for a president to use the armed forces to establish a dictatorship.
Russia, China, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, to name a few countries, all have a military draft.
Russia alone has a reserve army of about 20 million men and women. The reserve is made up of civilians.
All these soldiers continuously practice the art of war.
These countries are also our enemies.
In the book “The Prince” Machiavelli wrote that principalities with weak or no standing armies are always conquered.
Historically, success comes only to those that constantly practice the art of war.
Unfortunately, there’s a drawback to expanding our armed forces: Our nation’s debt.
One way to pay for a military expansion is to quickly win the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This will allow us to bring the troops back and use the present war funding to increase troop strength.
We could also pay for the expansion by reducing funds to worthless Communist agencies such as the Endowment for the Arts, NPR and ACORN (I hear they’re still operating under another name). We could reduce funding of The TSA, and cut The EPA. We must insist this administration terminate all Czars and reduce the size of the federal government.
More importantly, we must stop sending aid to every nation in the world!
In the past, our nation has relied on technology to justify a smaller military force. However, our technology is no match to a fanatical enemy. An enemy ready and willing to die to further their political or religious ideology will always be a superior force.
I predict we will fight a major war in the not too distant future. I hope to God that I am wrong.
When and if that day comes, you will have three choices: surrender, die or fight. All three may mean death; however, if you fight you might live.
I prefer to fight.

Comment by Sean Reardon on February 1, 2011 at 11:26pm So any one that volunteers and changes their mind upon seeing the circumstances firsthand is enslaved? There were many objectors to the Iraq(and every other war for that matter) war that met those criteria. I'm not arguing that the draft is fair, just that it part of this country for a long time as was slavery and the two are not the same. It's taxes, a necessary evil that must be endured but never blindly accepted without question. America would be much more careful about our foreign policy with a draft, and would not be hostage to subcontractors. Slick Willie richly deserved the condemnation he received for draft dodging, and Jimmy Carter was criticized for pardoning the dodgers(he was a submariner), now it's the American way?
And as I said, after everything else we can't afford is slashed or eliminated, our debt and deficit will force us into a draft whether we call it slavery or patriotism or necessity. Like the old commercial goes, you can pay me now or you can pay me later....

t will relieve the back door draft, where veterans who have already served their country admirably are conscripted into mandatory service with no end in sight, leaving behind everything they have worked for since completing(?) their service to our country. Several years ago I worked for a good while in the Caribbean and was surprised at the amount of Chinese labor that was there. They don't need supertankers, China's government has a fleet of used cruise ships refurbished to maximize sleeping space, and they use these as floating cities to brings thousands of laborers to construction sites which they have naturally low-balled and beaten even the local impoverished worker's prices. These are for western casinos and resorts, not just Chinese or local government projects. On land, fenced in labor camps with trailers, barbed wire, and a even a podium in the yard with a Chinese flag flying. Never saw anything like it in my life. As the Chinese control the canal, there is no telling how many Chinese are already in the Caribbean and South America(or anywhere else, the companies using this slave labor don't want to advertise it naturally).

Comment by Sean Reardon on February 1, 2011 at 9:52pm 2nd repost, this article must have at least 5x the comments of any other blog post on TPN. Kudos again to Mr Sanchez. 2 other points to add:
This is an excellent article, Mr Sanchez has obviously set a fire under both sides of this argument. Reposting my earlier reply its so far back I can't blame anyone for not reading it.
Mr Sanchez-
excellent article! Rarely are such diverse issues succinctly brought together to illustrate the singular challenge our nation faces today. I have long argued the merits of a draft, if I might add a couple of points in re draft:

Comment by Robert L. Voelsing Sr. on February 1, 2011 at 6:43pm During WW 2,,the main reason the Jap army did NOT attack the west coast of the USA is that Adm. Yamamoto convinced their leaders that TOO many Americans owned guns. It would be suicide. The Aleutians & some balloon bombs were as far as they came. Cong. Rangel of Harlem wants to bring back the draft. NOT a good idea. WHY?? Who would actually go?? Men?? Women?? Rich?? Poor?? think about this,,Obamacare was pushed by all kinds of groups,,including Unions,,,,,,,,now over 800 groups of different kinds ALL want WAIVERS from Obamacare,,,,"Oh NO,,,NOT US,,,WE MUST HAVE A WAIVER ,,'FOR WE CANNOT AFFORD OBAMACARE",,,what hypocrites.. Well,,,,,the same thing will happen with the draft,,,,TOO many people will claim some kind of exemption from the draft,,,physical,,school,,work,,drug abuse,,criminal record,,& the list goes on & on,,,,,to the point that there will be more exemptions than actual draftees,,,,I know ,,,I was drafted ,,& I know how the system works. Now,,,if we had MANDATORY service for ALL physically eligible men & women AT 18,,then they train for 2,,3,,4 years & get the skills they want & need for their futures,,,besides weapons training ,,,THEN,,the Gov't. helps pay for College. Just think of the difference in the College students in this country if ALL came to College classes with a Military background including manners,,respect,,tolerence,,& above all else,,DISCIPLINE. The Marxist professors at Berkley,Columbia & Harvard,,just to name a few,,will go nuts,,& possibly QUIT because they can't shape the totally UN-disciplined minds of students just out of H.S. ,,because there would not be any UNTIL they have finished Mandatory Service,,,which I believe is a better idea than the 'draft' The Day I was inducted,,I traveled with a group of ,,say,,50.
