VIDEO: What a Government-Run Internet Would Look Like

Note: This first appeared in the PJ Tatler.

It will look terrible. And slow. And shabby. And expensive. And broke.

Like the Post Office. Or the TSA. Or Amtrak. Or Social Security. Or Medicare. Or Medicaid. Or….

And it will be decidedly un-First Amendment friendly.

Which is just what the Left wants to see.

If I can use a Lord of the Rings analogy, I view my warnings as more in the vein of Gandalf than the nihilistic hopelessness of Denethor

@Carol Williams

Mrs Williams, the first one was certainly depressing, but the second had nothing to do with not having hope, it had to do with not being an easy target.

But overall, I have been increasingly depressed with the state of things lately, but I'm not telling you to go sit in your houses, lock the doors, and wait for the end.

Telling the truth about what we face is never an evil.  We can't win anything with our eyes closed.

I will say that I believe the the republic is functionally dead, and we are already living in tyranny.  I have been adovcating for secession as the last best hope to stop the advance of liberalism in the states we have left, but that too may be too late.

I can't ignore the fact that government agencies are arming civilian troops, like the new FEMA Corps, buying billions of bullets, many weapons, armored vehicles, and drones.  To paraphrase Patrick Henry, what possible reason could they need these weapons except to finish binding our chains?

I never advocate violence, but it's time to consider that we all may need to start paying extra attention to the defense of our families in the very near future.

So yes, I'm depressed about the state of things, and I think we have dark days ahead, though that does not mean I think anyone should give up, nor does it mean we have absolutely no hope in the long run.

I would tell you to stand up for principle until the end even if we had no hope, but I think I'm right to make the observations I made.

@ Ryan McKenzie ... You have posted 2 comments, both indicating there is no hope no matter which way we turn or what action we undertake.  Do you really feel that hopeless or are you consciously trying to undermine morale?

Mr. Smith, stuff like that sounds appealing sometimes, but given how crazy things are getting, from another perspective, what you are proposing is that all the true opponents of the government should move into one ghetto so when they feel like it, the government can come along and put up a fence around it and have a ready made concentration camp.

So, let's all move down to Texas and live in Glen Beck's model city he is developing?

The Internet the last bastion of Free Speech!

Going along in the same vein of the previous comments in response to Debrajoe; even if the Democrats loose power, which does not seem imminent, you still have to contend with the liberals in control of the GOP.  Sadly, there are Tea Party candidates violating their promises left and right and joining the RINOs.  Even the likes of Rand Paul is advocating open boarders and just voted for Hagel.

I have started to suspect that the administration is thratening even real conservatives into obedience, and the fact that a liberal like Bob Woodward has publicly stated he has been threatened lends credit to that theory.

And if that's the case, than all representation is already a complete sham, the Republic is unquestionably dead, and elections don't' matter any more.  Of course that's even ignoring the fact that there is plenty of evidence that the Presidential race was rigged anyway.

Sorry about a couple of the typo...information still correct.

I live in a small state but those who voted democrat are still voting democrat.  It is because they are reading the liberal news and refuse to believe anything conservative.  I live in a town of 100 people.  80% are democrat.  80% of those democrats are Catholic.  Both groups of 80% will still vote for Obama even if they have to hold their news because they believe in the democratic platform whether it exists or not.  Want another interesting statistics.  About 100% of these democrats are 2nd or 3rd generation german and austrians, who left Germany and Austria  because of facism or nazism.  History does not stay in their memory.  These are true statistics.
