The front page of the New York Post for Monday, April 18th, http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/trump_better_for_prez_because...; has Donald Trump "modestly" claiming he'd be a better president than Mitt Romney because "I'm a much bigger businessman...I mean my net worth is many, many, many times Mitt Romney (sic)." Sic in more ways than one.
This brings us to Mr. Trump’s ego on steroids and his lack of consideration for others.
A few years ago, Donald Trump was a featured early evening speaker at a Learning Annex all day investment course/seminar held at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. I happened to be there and heard him say that we should withdraw from the Iraq war, but the most telling story was a personal one he told about someone he knew. I will leave out some identifying details I still recall for obvious reasons.
Speaking to an audience of around six hundred people, Trump told of a married man in New York he knew who had been in an unsatisfactory career - and thus became sexually impotent for a few years. At some point, this younger man decided to do what he really loved (as best I recall, The Donald may have advised him on this) and the younger man’s potency returned. I will assume that Trump "knew" this from hearsay and not first hand observation.
Now if this story had been told by Donald Trump in Seattle or Spokane where no one knew the other man, it would have been one thing. But among the roughly six hundred people in the New York hall there were probably at least ten people that travel in the same social circles as Trump and his friends. These ten people may well have been able to identify the man Trump was talking about. By telling the story, The Donald probably had embarrassed his young acquaintance considerably. People will repeat a somewhat salacious story, but what concern is that to Mr. Trump?
I don't believe Trump even realized he was making an unnecessary public revelation about his young acquaintance, but what if he said something in public about a foreign leader or a regime that would best be said in private - or not at all? Yes, stories like this have entertainment value, but is it the behavior the rest of want from an American President? Will Trump publicly cast aspersions on some foreign leader's personal traits in front of two hundred newspeople and dozens of television station video cameras?
I'm not sure I want a President who may well be comfortable with Howard Stern as his Press Secretary – or speech writer. Yes, he isn’t the self-effacing John McCain, but there has to be a better choice out there among 300 million people.
P.S.
Trump Drags Sulzberger into Defamation Lawsuit
The New York Supreme Court has ruled that Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. must submit to a deposition by attorneys representing Donald Trump, who is suing Times business editor Timothy O'Brien and the publishers of O'Brien's book TrumpNation: The Art of Being The Donald. Trump is seeking $5 billion in damages because he says the book grossly underestimated his net worth at $150 million to $250 million, instead of the billions and billions he claims. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Trump contends that being labeled a mere millionaire hurt his "brand and reputation" and undermined the "perception of Trump as a businessman of extraordinary means and ability (which he is)."

Trump University Student Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Trump University Over Real Estate Seminars
A class action lawsuit was filed against Trump University, LLC, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California (styled Tarla Makaeff v. Trump University, LLC., Case No. 3:10-cv-0940 IEG) alleging that Trump University promised, among other things, a complete real estate education, an apprenticeship, mentorship and practical and fail-safe real estate techniques, but purportedly did not provide students what they bargained for but instead allegedly taught them how to spend more money buying more Trump seminars, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

Mr. Kemp, you are probably right and don't think for a second I have not thought of that. It is a concern. But maybe he has seen what Liberalism is and doe's not like it. It's possible. Or maybe he is just playing us. That is possible too. What I am loving is that he is raising questions and pointing out the issues for the whole world to see. He has the guts. I am fed up with the Republicans that talk the good talk but don't act. That is what I have always seen in Republicans and that is why I will always be an Independent. Even when they have a win win situation. Why are they not bringing up all of these things? I kind of agree with Kenneth Frazier. I would vote for Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck over Obama any day. Even though they both registered to vote for Obama. My point is, we have got to get a candidate that can really beat Obama and will raise holy hell over any reports of voter fraud. We absoutely CANNOT give Obama a 2nd term. We may just have to settle for Trump. Maybe Trump truly wants to turn this country around and go down in history as a loved President. He has done everything else. Who really knows what is in his heart. I believe Soro's is trying to rule the world with his dillusions of him seeing himself as "God Like". Soro's has his said he has set his sights on America and has many arms reaching into just about everything in this country. Doe's anyone know if Trump & Soro's are friends or associates? If they are buddies then that would give me a whole different idea of what might be happening.

Comment by Jack Kemp on April 20, 2011 at 1:54pm Jack. I had a question. Did you ask Mr. Trump if he had gotten permission from this person to share this story? Sometimes you can ask people to be able to use their story for illustrative purposes along with their name. Just wondered if you had asked him that question. >>
Grace, I couldn't get close enough to ask Trump that question concerning permission. And I didn't ask it from the floor. And Trump didn't give the names of the two people I mentioned (one in the article and one in the comments who had a short marriage to a Las Vegas showgirl).
Speaking as a man, the last thing a man wants to give permission for is telling a story about his inability to be sexually potent to a crowd of people, be they friends, strangers or a combination of both. One of the reasons the man's name wasn't mentioned in the story in the article above was that most probably no permission was given to Trump. Even if Trump got permission (highly unlikely) a decent man wouldn't embarrass another man with such a story in public so close to his NY City & extended metropolitan area home.
Comment by John R. Lancellotti on April 20, 2011 at 12:54pm KENNETH ZEITLER ... I gotta say I think Ron Paul is great. I think America could use a president like him. I mean the qualities you cite are refreshing. I cannot say the same for ANY other candidate. But in my opinion, the man won't be elected because I don't believe he looks good on TV.
Since the election of JFK, when Nixon gave better answers in a debate but the TV audience saw beads of sweat over his lower lip, it's REALLY been a matter of how does the candidate look on TV. You must think I'm a pretty unsubstantial kind of person to talk like this but it's not ME talking. I reporting what I've read in every book I've ever seen about presidential elections since the advent of TV. Lincoln, they say, would never have been elected because he had a squeeky voice. He's always depicted as someone with a deep, fatherly type voice, kind and appealing. As I understand it, this is not so. He apparently sounded terrible but people then, were not the same as we are today. Lincoln's message to the nation was spread in a newspaper not on some mass electronic medium, so most of the people never knew what he sounded like ... and reports of his winning debates ... and reports of his proposals ... were never minimized by the sound of his voice. Can't happen today. Ron Paul would be subject to the ravages of how his image was projected on TV. In my opinion, that would kill his candidacy and he would lose the election. I don't believe we can take a chance on my being wrong. If I'm right and your candidate gets the nomination, he'll lose and it's four more years of Obama. That would destroy this country. This is why I always shout these remarks which must seem like idiocy to many others but I try to make my voice and my opinion heard. I believe I now have many people looking at candidates with a view toward deciding whether they can win the election or not. For instance, I don't think Sarah can win -- and she's potentially a great president -- because I don't think she can best Obama in a face to face debate. And so on. Trump -- in my opinion -- because he is rich, because he is saying what seems right ... and because I think he can win, is my candidate. A lot of people disagree with me ... but that's why we have primary elections. We shall see what we shall see. Best always, John
