Tina, Turner-in of her U.S. Passport, Applies for Swiss Citizenship

Jack E. Kemp

Legendary rock star Tina Turner, who divorced her first husband Ike decades ago because of abuse, has decided she doesn’t want to be abused again by the U.S. Tax Code. France24 reports that:

The woman behind such hits as "Private Dancer", "Simply the Best" and "What's Love Got to Do With It?" will still need a green light from the canton of Zurich as well was federal authorities before she can receive red passport, the two papers reported.

Turner spokeswoman Karin Rhomberg told the Zuerichsee-Zeitung that the singer wanted to "clarify her situation".

"Tina Turner will therefore also give back her ," she said.

Turner, who has learned German, reportedly moved to Switzerland in 1995 when her longtime partner, German record executive Erwin Bach, was transferred here.

END OF QUOTE

Let me be the first to say that anyone who criticizes Tina for this move, particularly leftists, is definitely a racist! Okay, I don’t really mean that, but as a white conservative, it was such fun to make the accusation.

As the article states, Tina Turner has been living in Europe for years, often performing there. Like many a diva, she gave her final stadium tour in 2000, but in Wembley Stadium in London and not in America. She still performed in smaller venues.  And “She ended 2005 as one of five recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors, the highest form of recognition of excellence in the arts in America.” http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0877913/bio

I guess the I.R.S. didn’t heed her words when she sang “You Better Be Good to Me.” Now they get it.

And no one thinks that this POTUS and his Administration will go down in history as the worst ever?

I haven't heard interviews from Tina that it is all about taxes. Can there be more to the story?

Folks, take a few minutes to do an internet search on the phrase "legalized crime."  That may sound like an oxymoron, but it clearly is not.  While I disagree that corporatism is a direct synonym for capitalism, most of what you find is spot on: It is criminal activity that has been legalized because "our" representatives in Congress passed a law of some kind that made it legal for their owners on Wall Street to perpetrate what is otherwise criminal acivities of various kinds--usually thievery disguised as bonuses, commissions, etc.

The amount of actual and real free-market capitalism that is to be found in the activities that are practiced on Wall Street as permitted and promoted by Washington is very limited, indeed.  Far more actual and true capitalism is to be found on Main Street USA and in the rural areas of The United States than there is to be found in Washington, on Wall Street or in the nation's other financial centers.

Turner has lived in Switzerland for many years and until now, has not found reason to renounce her U.S. citizenship. This raises the question, "Why now?"

The answer is simple. Until now, the U.S. Government has not been out to soak the rich.

Since Obama started on his "Soak the Rich" campaign, the U.S. has been losing millionaires and billionaires like rats leaving a sinking ship. Obama has yet to figure out that the people that he wants to punish for their success have the wherewithal to live and pay tax wherever they choose.

In fact, annual formal renunciations of U.S. citizenship have climbed almost 8 times the level that they were when Obama took office, to a level more than double any previous year. Why so sudden and so drastic? And of course, how many of those new expats do you think are poor?

This is a phenomena that I covered in some detail in "The Rich Don't Pay Tax! …Or Do They?" In short, according to Zogby International, more than 3 million Americans relocate offshore every year and at that rate, we could lose more than half of the top 10% of taxpayers in just a few years. If that happens, then we lose more than 35% of our tax base, which would mean that those who are left would face a more than 50% tax increase, just so the government could stay even.

Good for her. Maybe it's time to reclaim my German citizenship.

Good for her! The US treats its people like criminals when it comes to taxes. We can vote with our feet to escape that garbage.

Tina's always been one of my favorites.  Good for her!

Good for you, Ms. Turner! You'd better avail yourself of the weapons and small arms training available to all Swiss citizens as well .... since it's likely that, with Barack Obama's collectivist IRS, you'll be getting visits from foreign reps of the Internal Revenue Statists.

I'll come by and watch your front door for you, if you promise to sing me a few of your classics!

Better move the White House to California because they will need more Government money to survive all the rich moving out of that state. The California liberals can't even get their head out of their--- to be able to see what is happening. Good Luck California and Welcome in King Barry.

Yet another reason why "tax the rich" is a plan doomed to fail.  They aren't going to stand and huddle together like a flock of sheep waiting to be shorn.  Unfortunately, most of us much further down the economic scale than the "1%" don't have the option of citizenship abroad.  Shucks, I'd bail out of Illinois if it were not for ties to family and ministry.  Illinois, the training ground for BHO, is a preview of coming attractions if the empty suits in Congress don't get their act together.
