There is a famous saying by an American poet named Ella Wheeler Wilcox that asserts "laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone". It's apparent that liberals do not understand that saying - at least not where Barack Obama and the rodeo is concerned. http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/12/politics/missouri-obama-rodeo
Yes, a rodeo clown made sport of our Grecian god and fearless leader Barack Hussein Obama at the Missouri State Fair to raucous laughter, and now the chips are busily falling (mostly where you will step in them). The average rodeo fan seemed quite amused by the clowning, but the Foo's (Friends of Obama) are determined to make the clowns cry alone.
It's not like people have ever done such a thing before, oh no; there were no Richard Nixon Masks, or Ronald Reagan masks worn. Saturday night live did not do skits about these former presidents. No; this is so clearly unique and, since Mr. Obama is black, so clearly racist.
The State Fair has banned the clown in question (the rodeo guy, not Barack Obama) for this, and Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (a Republican who is a bit of a clown himself, given his predilection for strippers and the like http://news.yahoo.com/beset-scandals-peter-kinder-drops-missouri-go...) has condemned the actions of said clown.
According to the CNN article:
"Rodeo announcer Mark Ficken, president of the Missouri Cowboy Rodeo Association and a school superintendent, announced a special guest: "President Obama."
Another voice is heard over the loudspeaker working up the crowd and saying, "We're going to stomp Obama now."
"As soon as this bull comes out, Obama, don't you move," the second voice said. "He's going to getcha, getcha getcha, getcha."
"Hey, I know I'm a clown," the second voice said. "He's just running around acting like one. Doesn't know he is one." ...
The stunt sickened Perry Beam, who came to the fair in Sedalia with his wife and a student from Taiwan to "give him a little piece of Americana."
Beam likened the atmosphere to a Klan rally.
"It wasn't clean; it wasn't fun. It was awful; it was sickening," Beam said, "It was racist."
And the cacophony of commie cackling has grown defeaning, with the NAACP calling for a Secret Service and DOJ investigation. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/08/13/Missouri-NAACP-r... This on top of calls to defund the State Fair, a lifetime ban for the particular clown in question (again, not Mr. Obama) http://sweetness-light.com/archive/rodeo-clown-banned-dems-wants-to... and mandatory "sensitivity training" for rodeo clowns in the future.
Gee; I would have thought they would have to take that in clown college (a place that would profit most politicians). Sensitivity is certainly as important as knowing how to squirt water in faces, or wiggle ears, or honk their noses. They are simply going to have to learn to just say "Homey don't play dat!" http://www.writeups.org/fiche.php?id=5128
Even Missouri Republicans are getting in on the act; Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (a Republican who is a bit of a clown himself, given his predilection for strippers and the like http://news.yahoo.com/beset-scandals-peter-kinder-drops-missouri-go...) has stuck his enormous red nose in, condemning the clown in the interest of a Kinder, gentler nation.
I'm not sure why people are upset about this; after all, Mr. Obama was awarded the No-Bull prize for, well, showing up in Washington. He had nothing to fear from the beast.
I would argue that if you liken this to a Klan rally than perhaps you have been attending too many of them yourself; there is no, absolutely zero, racial implications here. This is political satire. This highly offended onlooker is engaging in an act of projection.
Does anybody remember Sarah Palin saying "I can see Russia from my back yard"? If you do remember that you are from an alternate universe, because SHE NEVER SAID IT. Comedian Tina Fay said it in a Saturday Night Live skit, and the media happily reported it as Palin's own words. It helped to sink her career.
This was far worse than calling Obama a clown at a rodeo. This was a purposeful lie to discredit her.
And let us not forget the foul things said about Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court.
Now, some commentators (Mark Reardon on KMOX, for example http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/personality/mark-reardon/) are saying this gives us a bad image as a bunch of rednecks here. Well, what do you expect to find at a rodeo? Metrosexuals? Rednecks go to rodeos and truck pulls. It's what they do. So if you go to a rodeo why should it surprise you that there are hayseeds in attendance?
What bothers me about this is that it applies a different standard to Barack Obama than has ever been applied to any other president, and that is intentional. The whole point is to make Mr. Obama untouchable in terms of political satire. This was the strategy from the very beginning; choose a minority candidate then claim racism every time he is criticized. Kinder should not fall for it, nor should any other Republican.
Which brings us to the second problem; the GOP is running and hiding when they should be laughing at the enormous eared popinjay. This was not a "serious breech" but something that happens regularly to Republicans. Remember Gerald Ford being portrayed as a bumbling fool on television? Remember that show with the puppets back in the 1980's which regularly mocked Ronald Reagan? Now we are being told we do not dare mock this man, a man who is eminently mockable. He is holy. He is only to be worshipped. And if the GOP goes along with this (and they have done so since Mr. Obama first set foot on the scene) he will remain inviolate. You cannot win politically by letting the enemy define the terms of the debate.
I remind you of Mr. Obama's favorite political theorist, Saul Alinsky:
* RULE 1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. "Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)
* RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
* RULE 5: "Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)"
See how these three rules apply in this instance. First, the Democrats unload their clips on anyone who mocks or is critical of this president because they must maintain the illusion of absolute power. Anyone who moves against their man must be annihilated immediately, lest the infection spread. This is rule 1; convince the opposition that they are fighting an omnipotent enemy. It will make the faint of heart (and that is most of the GOP) cower in the cellar.
Second, the Republicans have claimed to be unwilling to use certain tactics, such as ridicule. They profess to be the bigger men, the ones who are reasonable and willing to fight a gentleman's war. So the Democrats use this, firing shots at anyone who does make fun of the president in order to either make the GOP back off by following their own rulebook OR make them look like hypocrites.
And what can we say about the last? They know Obama is a clown, one easily caricatured. That must not, cannot be permitted to happen. Rule 5 teaches the Left to ridicule conservatives while protecting their own from ridicule. They understand this. It's little wonder they have gone ballistic in this instance; they cannot allow this sort of mockery to spread.
So don't fall for this line of bologna that claims we should be above this sort of thing - or that the liberals are really offended by this. They know full well they would have done far worse if given the chance. This is purely political.
And Mr. Obama taught a course in Saul Alinsky, don't forget that.
This clown has given us a teachable moment. He has shown us the path to political victory by pointing out the enormous weak underbelly (duly supported by oversized pants and loose suspenders) of our foe. The liberals are AFRAID of this guy, and have taken steps to destroy him. We should be coming to his defense, not running from a gang of clowns pulled from a Chevy Volt.
Sometimes wisdom is found in the most unlikely of places.
Crying time is over, GOP; time to laugh, and the world will laugh with you. And that ain’t no bull!
