First, a thought which sums up the Zero's second inaugural address quite succinctly.
“I thought this was an amazing speech, historically very important. Not memorable…there’s not a line here that will ever be repeated, but I think very important historically. This was really Obama unbound. And I think what’s most interesting is that Obama is declaring the end of Reaganism.”
--Charles Krauthammer
Hat tip to lobo91 for the Dr. Krauthammer quote.
I too have found reason to celebrate January 20, 2013, (the actual inauguration date for the Bamster's second term, today's kabuki theater was merely for show.) First, my beloved Penguins improved their record to 2-0-0 in the lockout shortened season in which each and every game has increased in significance by a factor of 60%, (and yes, I will do the math for you if requested,) and secondly, we have officially entered the Back Nine of the national nightmare known as the Obama Presidency. That is to say, that as of now, we have seen him be President for a longer period than he is constitutionally able to remain as our President. Granted, I worked hard and voted for this to be over as of yesterday, but apparently we still have a majority of Americans casting ballots in important elections without taking the trouble to really consider critically the issues and positions on those issues held by the candidates running for office. So, while I wished to not even play Nine, it looks as though America desires to pay for the full Eighteen, and pay for it we will!
Make no mistake about it, the Back Nine can be a pretty good place to be. At the end of it lies the Nineteenth Hole, and coincidentally, I can hardly think of the Obama Presidency without feeling the sudden urge to punish the living daylights out of my liver with the nastiest brand of rot gut hanging out on the very bottom shelf, (under the sink if possible.) Being within weeks of my 50th birthday, I can safely say that I am on the Back Nine of my life. While it's been a blast so far, I must say that believing that the youth of America is our future has me drinking even more these days. My generation you see did a truly lousy job of teaching them anything, (as a whole, I'm sure your particular kid is simply brilliant.) We have you see, an entire generation of youth who act so entitled, and apparently believe in that entitlement so fervently, the American Psychiatric Association felt it necessary to remove Narcissistic Personality Disorder from their list of official things that can go wrong with the belfries that sit atop our collective shoulders. With that as a future for America, my advice to you, is to start drinking heavily. The self entitled crap we saw emanating from occupy Wall Street is how they believe our country should be run. They get free crap, including cell phones, ipads, laptops, and gourmet food, and some nondescript capitalist pig gets the joy of paying for it.
During Barack Obama's first run for the roses in 2008, he promised free cures that included everything from a chicken in every pot to drink this elixir as a cure for your Lumbago. All we needed to do was to allow him to spend like someone robbing an endless supply of drunken sailors. TARP and Stimulus have both been added to that magic concept known as the budgetary baseline, which means that we are spending this, plus the automatic increases each and every year as a matter of fact now, just accepted and considered a third rail of politics. Trillion Dollar Deficits, are now projected for as far as the eye can see, and I have never before pleaded fate for the loss of my gift known as vision before, but pass the whiskey, and lets hope it has its fair share of wood alcohol in it. Mr. Bartender, go for the crap bottle you keep by the trash can, if you please, I want my liver cursing at me by day's end.
Now we are hearing something truly amazing from his second inaugural address. Deficit spending is indeed something to worry about all of a sudden. And how do we solve that problem so thoroughly created by those evil House Members who so thoughtlessly capitulated to the demands made by our current Chief Executive? (By the way, that last line is uncomfortably close to the actual language used by the man himself. He indeed has blamed spending on the opposition party primarily because they were stupid enough to let him get away with it.) The answer is what we all knew, at least those of us paying attention to the comings and goings of this bunch. We are going to have to raise taxes not only on the woefully too-small-a-group-to-cover-the-tab-after-all-rich, but on everybody in a fashion that will, I promise you this, turn out to be even more regressive than the Social Security Tax. So, now we can officially label the Obama Presidency as the Dennis Moore Presidency. I hope that sticks.
There is a silver lining however, and that is this. No matter what happens, Four years from now will bring a new President who will still have our current Constitution as the ultimate law of the land. No Amendments will be ratified during these times when sentiments are split so evenly between left and right.
Take solace that every thing that is done by man, can be undone. Barack Obama's term is now officially past its half way mark. Every bit of damage done by Barack Obama and his merry band of sycophants can be repaired. The work will be hard, and it will suck, but it is possible. Barack Obama won reelection, and that will have repercussions. It is also true that nothing will be fixed until we get our act together and win some elections, (and I truthfully do not care if another person with the letter R appearing after their name ever wins again.) While it is true that the current group, and even some before them have largely ignored the Constitution recently, that does not change the fact that this document is still the law of the land, our contract with our government that defines just exactly how far we are willing to let them go. They have shredded the Constitution, primarily because we the people have allowed it. When we stop allowing it, they'll stop shredding it.
I have faith in a few things. I have faith in God, in the wisdom of our founding fathers, in the capacity of my fellow Americans to eventually come to the right decision. Our nation will survive the Obama assault on our freedoms, and our Republic will one day thrive, despite his best efforts to destroy us. An overwhelming majority of our State Level pols. represent the conservative point of view. The House does have the ability, any time they so choose to shut down the profligate spending taking place. More importantly, if we got our side out to the polls to flex our electoral muscle, a liberal might not ever again win national election. Conservatives staying home in droves is what caused all of this as much as anything else. That includes primaries by the way, as the GOP establishment could never have inflicted us with Romney, McCain, or either Bush, had a sufficient number of people not voted for them.
The fault dear Brutus is in ourselves and not in our stars, that we are underlings.

Comment by Phil McConathy on January 22, 2013 at 4:06pm This guy can cause huge long term damages for America and our Constitution with his radical leftist federal judge appointments and Supreme Court appointments. This will be a very trying 4 years in the history of America. The big question is after 4 more years can we undo the major damages. Time will tell and it won't take very long for it to materialize.
Comment by Susan J.Morningstar on January 22, 2013 at 9:17am Must we wait for the long and uncertain "common sense" of the American people to emerge? I am very dubious, after this election, that such a thing exists. Must we sit, wait and pray, that someday it will dawn on the politically unlettered, somewhat bigger half of our fellow citizens, to suddenly realize that they have squandered our freedoms and aided a few leftist fools to destroy our republic?
If you happen to be twenty, you may have the time to wait, and then endure the blood shed that tyrants will extract before they surrender. But, I am 81, and I haven't time to wait for this patriot's dream to grip a generation hynotized by personal gadgets of technology. My guess is they will be led gently into another dark age all the while they mindlessly punch away at video games. The horror for me is that they will drag me along, helplessly astonished at their total ignorance of, and total lack of appreciation of the sacrifices made by generations of Americans before them.
Are we going to go along like sheep led to slaughter? Have you heard the story of Peter Muhlenberg (1746-1807) who was a Lutheran minister in Woodstock, VA There, on a sunday in 1775, after conducting worship, removed his robe to reveal a military uniform, and declared, "There's a time to preach, and a time to fight." He enrolled the men in his parish into a regiment and commanded troops in battle. He rose to the rank of major general, and represented PA in US Congress three terms. Are there any such men left to save his dream of freedom?
Comment by John Wiseman on January 22, 2013 at 8:42am @ Vern Shotwell, Which is why I was careful to say robbing an endless supply of drunken sailors. At least when a drunken sailor goes on a binge, he is spending his own money, if still more susceptible to chicanery performed at his expense. See, we are on the same page after all.
@CaliRay, Even though that is true, and 8 years appointing judges to the judiciary does change the landscape, we still had Bush 43 for his 8 years to balance that out. As long as those judges do not add an amendment, which they can not do, all they can do is add more time to the nightmare. Eventually, and this has happened before, the Supreme Court has the ability to overturn itself, and reverse its direction.
Pick the battles we can win, and let's remember that elections have consequences. The election of Barack Obama for a second term is no exception to that. But rather than stick our heads in the ground and cry, I suggest that we fight for our nation, and keep fighting, because America as a concept is worth that effort.
This author seems to be forgetting the possibility that decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court may be shifted to the far left for at least two generations with the appointment of one more liberal judge. That will spell the end of the American Republic and the Constitution as it was written by the founders.

Comment by Wayne Nelson Cowles on January 21, 2013 at 7:31pm My dad and we kids were pretty good at mechanical aptitudes, I remember one of his statements as a boy. "They say that the squeeky wheel gets the grease, but we know that wheels do not always squeek for lack of it. Often a wheel squeeks beause the components are out of alingment, you must then take a hammer and straighten the damn thing back out.
