"Let our countrymen know that the people alone can protect us against these evils of misgovernment." Thomas Jefferson.
Other founders expressed their belief that keeping this republic is up to the people. "God Given right to govern is vested in the sovereign authority of the whole people."
Samuel Adams said, "Public officials should not be chosen if they are lacking in experience, training, proven virtue, and demonstrated wisdom."
Millions of citizens young and old, ages 20 to 90+ and spread over every State make up what is called "TEA PARTY." The total of it spells WISDOM. We come to pose the question to each candidate. Explain your concept of wisdom and what is your record of demonstrated wisdom?
Some of us joined local or state-wide Tea party groups, some stay with it in spirit. Some wish they could safely tell everyone, but struggle with us quietly. Some came to it instantly when we saw what had happened. Others perceived over time and slowly realized the enormity of malfeasance besetting America. Some call it other names.
Tea Party is not the national writers on these blogs. They may be part of the millions. The Republicans in Washington are not Tea Party. Smart ones among that group might just catch on. Pundits in Washington or TV analysts are not Tea Party. Some of that group may be trying to decide where they belong.
We represent the fears, fighting spirit, take back our country, get into the battle and go study to show myself worthy of attention set of attitudes that identifies Tea party spirit. The few 2010 elected persons now in Congress or Statehouses are not "Tea Party" but they are part of the millions.
All of us absorb lables of racist, go to hell, SOB drivel and death threats in stride. While such comments and labels are childish, innaccurate and foolish, they might just inspire most of us. The villeness of it teaches much about how the perpetrators respect us. While they may not be thinking respectfully, just so, the fear evident in their invective identifies their respect as just that. They see and feel what they are up against and fear it. Hate may be in there too.
I believe that they also know that Tea Party really is millions of Americans who are older, or wiser, less foolish and more sincere and extremely determined. The very degree of our study to understand what has been going on under our noses for many decades throws fear into them. It was our foolish trust and our laziness in keeping track of what they were doing that gave them entry into the seat of government. It gave them confidence that they could waltz in and get away with it. The jig is up isn't it?
So much for the hateful stuff thrown at us. What should happen in a serious nation of citizens is well spoken discourse. It can be dignified, it can be erudite, it can be poetic, it can be solemn, it can be loud and spirited, it can be oratorical. Within all of those styles, it can not be deceptive, or it will engender more urgent resistance. Right there is the level at which Tea Party has a chance to serve the nation with distinction. We manifest the wisdom to detect deception, identify deception, publicize deception and then teach its opposite.
Citizens, whether called Tea Party or any label, must study to show ourselves worthy to actually mentor anyone elected, any local or national congress. Citizens, I believe will have now to forever be the standard bearer for governing pattern that conforms to our Constitution. Professors of anything have not upheld a standard that is worthy. University of anywhere flunked. The public enmass is not prepared to participate and protect our Republic.
Our founders seemed to realize this would be the way when they warned us that the people are identified as the ultimate protectors. So now we are awakened. We are not mere angry anything. Angry we are, but inspired we are, and educated we are, determined we are, experienced we are. Virtuous we are and by the millions of us, we bring wisdom.
If you or anyone disrespects us, think better of it. If any one fears us, relax and join us. We are a massive school of life that represents what you need in your life. If we seem to push against your politics, check our law school. The U.S Constitution is where we learned. If you are unalterably against our Constitution, then let the contest begin.
If Tea Party as it appears on these blogs appears unorganized or undirected, look deeper into the total of Tea Party as it manifests in hundreds of local groups in every state. Some work on Statehouses or their own local issues. Some educate local groups of citizens, some contend nationally. All aim at knowledge of governing wisdom and Constitutional fealty. That is precisely where we belong. God speed as we make it our life's work.

Comment by Dave Mason on September 11, 2011 at 3:50am Very good thoughts.
When we hold folks accountable for trying to destroy America...i.e., the bad politicians who have whored themselves out for personal gain, the academicians who purposely distort our history, the acitivists who purposely inculcate moral degradation...let us not forget, and let us not be shy to hold the media accountable for carrying their water. For without the media, they have no voice. As for the tea party, our only voice is literally through the internet and local involvement. We must grow while we can.

Comment by Jo Gonzalez on September 11, 2011 at 1:19am Beautifully spoken Sherry, we are one, we are all. As 9/11 is here, we should be reminded, that honor, sacrfice, and integrity are the basis of a civilized society. America is a proud country, because so many Americans have spent their lives, and fortunes, making this, the greatest country in the world. We will defend our country, our ideas, not as one, but as all, in the voice of the Tea Party. We will be defiled by those who fear us, but we have the courage of our convictions, they do not. We are strong morally, they are not. We answer to God. May God Bless America, and heal the hearts from 9/11.

Comment by Lynn Bryant DeSpain on September 10, 2011 at 5:41pm I agree, and will add, if I may, that Knowledge, beyond that of a State's Legislation is of prime importance!
Any person elcted to Federal Congress MUST have a complete and full knowledge of the "Prime Interst and Values" of each State.
For if a Law is passed that gives gain to farming, it may take away from States who's interest lie in manufacturing, or by giving aid to States whith Shipping, States that depend on the Rails, suffer.
It is not enough to work with upright intention and judgement, one must have a degree of knowledge of all subjects which come into legislation, for the General Interst and Welfare of All States.
No legislation for our United States, cana be fair and wise, which is not founded on the knowing of each State's natural differences of structure, and society.
This is what is so wrong when any Federally Seated, endorses, or does not endorse, "Open Shops", or Unions." On Individual State's Rights, the Federal Government is to remain silent, and of no opinion. That is the Law of our Land.
That is our Constitution.
That is what is known as "knowledge."
Without this type and degree of knowlege, and deep understanding that no two States are the same in culture, or business, or values, we end up with inexperience, making hasty legislation, istead of sober deliberation, and imperfect projects, instead of well contructed systems.
In sum, Obamacare! For example. Raising the Debt Ceiling, for another example. The causation of the Debt Ceiling need to be raised for a third.
