The idea that Social Secuirty pays illegal aliens was at one time absurd. I have chased down these stories frequently enough that I now just delete the emails. And I almost deleted a real story, one that no American worried about Social Security should miss.

The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment — even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.
There are only two possible conclusions: either Congress doesn't understand the problem, or they don't care.

Technically, the story is basically that people who are legal are getting paid on work that they earned as illegal immigrants. Whether it is 2006 or 2011 is not as important because these bills will not come due until many years later. The fact that the decision isn't even questioned means that it is a problem today.
The system is in significant trouble. The payroll tax holiday is not a tax cut it is an admission that the system is broken. The break comes from politicians using the Trust Fund as a reelection campaign fund.
