Politics is ugly business, and the Democrats play it especially foul. This is not new, and at first glance this documentary seems like an internecine battle fought in the traditional knife and razor street thuggery fashion of Democrat machine politics. But it bespeaks a dark, dangerous undercurrent in modern America.
In a new video besmirching St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, RiverCity Xaminer (sic) publisher Terry Artis launches a foul attack on the white Slay, who is up for re-election. This is not an attack from Republicans, but from black grievance hustlers.
According to KMOX radio:
"ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A flyer for a local documentary is shocking St. Louis residents. The flyer shows Mayor Francis Slay holding the arch like a whip, and a black man kneeling on the ground in front of him with the word "slayve’ spelled above.
The documentary is titled "Bootlicker” and explores the racial tension in the city since Fire Chief Sherman George was demoted.
Terry Artis, president and publisher of the African-American news organization RiverCity Xaminer, is the man behind the film. He told KMOX the film and its accompanying flyer are meant to shock people into the reality of how St. Louis is run like a slave plantation. ”What I did was use art to depict a condition that I see going on,” Artis said. "Art is suppose to provoke thought and its suppose to provoke response from people.”
End excerpt
Mayor Slay fired the black Fire Chief Sherman George for refusing a direct order to promote several white firefighters. George was refusing to promote these candidates because he disagreed with the tests used to determine promotions, as those tests tended to favor white candidates. Reviews of the tests showed no inherent bias, and a court found in favor of the white firefighters. Slay, following the court decision, ordered their promotion. George refused and the Mayor used the privilege of his office to can the recalcitrant Chief.
I brought the plight of these men to national attention at American Thinker back in 2007.
The happy ending - the promotion of the aggrieved firefighters over the racist objections of Chief George - is still apparently galling to those who believe being a member of a minority group should automatically grant preference in every aspect of life. It is Black Supremacy couched in victim terms.
While hysterical accusations of racism are nothing new, this dovetails with the murderous rampage of fired LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, who is claiming his reign of terror is somehow a civil rights protest against racism. Dorner, whose manifesto displays more personal pique at being sacked than any evidence of racial discrimination, has become a hero to the Left. No doubt Artis will be afforded the same accolades.
In point of fact, shrieks of racism are growing even while opportunity has never been better for African Americans and other minorities. Why is that?
Race baiting is a tool, a very useful tool, that has been used to advance the power of the State and the power of certain protected groups. The advances made over the last half century by minorities are obvious to most people, and the simple question of when will there be an end to racial preferences is growing in the minds of many Americans. The public is growing weary of wailing and gnashing their teeth in repentance, and the thought is occurring to many that affirmative action and white guilt must have an end at some point. The potential loss of power by the grievance industry is horrifying to them, and they grow more desperate every day. Also, those who are in fact privileged (and certainly Dorner can be viewed as among that group as well as Sherman George) have had their minds so poisoned that nothing will make them believe that they have actually advanced by climbing over other, equally talented men; they believe they had a higher mountain to climb when in many instances they climbed that mountain riding on the shoulders of affirmative action. (Barack Obama is a classic example.) This is not to say there aren't many talented and deserving minorities, but many have had success well beyond their white colleagues thanks to the benefits of reverse racial discrimination.
They now see affirmative action to be a right, something they deserve because they are born minority and American. Asking for fairness and a colorblind society has now become the very definition of Racism.
And our first black, post-racial President is as much to blame as any; he came out of the race grievance industry in Chicago, a loyal foot soldier at ACORN. His Administration is loaded similar types, men and women who do not want justice but revenge. Attorney General Eric Holder's refusal to prosecute the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation is one example of this principle in action. Another is the DHS "domestic terrorism" report singling out primarily white conservatives as potential domestic terrorists.
Way back when there were horrible caricatures of African Americans, very offensive caricatures designed to degrade, humiliate, and repress them. Now whites are portrayed in equally offensive ways, and for the same purposes.
Who are the true racists?

Comment by Paul Szemanczky on February 14, 2013 at 8:05pm Same s*** happened in New Haven a couple years back, Tim and it went to the Supreme Court who found for the white firemen. Cost the city $10,000,000, but the bastards in the Democrat laden regime there still tried to cover theri losses: increasing property taxes two years last.
