I wish to thank everyone who took the time to read my blog post and to offer their comments on it. Several people asked how we could ask people to give up their power...well, maybe there are a few who are in office to serve.
My Congressman, Pete Sessions, is slated to be the Chairman of the House Rules Committee in the next Congress (112th). I have already introduced this idea to him in person at one of his many town hall meetings. In fact, it was a town hall meeting that was deliberately set up for Tea Party patriots at a local university. He was clearly intrigued by the idea and called down another participant who immediately responded with "Are you crazy?".
He was in complete agreement with my statement that our representatives are out in Washington constantly assaulted by special interests and cut off from their constituents. I know he meant it because he had so many town hall meetings. I attended most of them and I had a hard time keeping up with him. He is one of the valiant few who has been battling for our interests for many years with little or no backup or support from his constituents. He was like a kid on Christmas morning and was very articulate, firm in his conservative positions and truly interested in hearing what everyone had to say.
So, if you like this idea, please contact him and ask him in his upcoming position as Chariman of the House Rules Committee, please look into revoking the rule limiting House Membership to 435. With redistricting coming up next year, perhaps we could take the first step toward restoring our Representative Republic. Also, contact all conservative governors and ask them to support this effort. I believe that the state legislatures perform the actual re-districting and if enough of the states get behind this idea, that will give it weight.

Unlike most Representatives, Congressman Sessions does not require that you reside in his district to contact him via this form. (I promise you, this is a man who actually likes and respects the American people!)
As for working out the exact details and logistics, that is the job of the House of Representatives. I believe that my initial outline is a sufficient starting point. If you have some additional recommendations or revisions, please feel free to start with my initial outline and modify it according to what you think would be best and send it via letter or email to Congressman Sessions.
Regarding all of the other suggestions, such as repealing the 16th and 17th amendments and addressing all of the socialist legislation that has accrued in the past century, I am in full agreement with almost all of you. I believe that the time to address those issues is only after we have true citizen statesmen and women in the House who are listening to their constituents. We don't want special interest lackeys making those decisions and ramming them through as we have seen in the past two years.
Quietly revoking that rule is the first step. And the House Rules Committee is the place to start.
Then, the debate should be engaged nationally so that as many people as are interested can weigh in on it. I have spent a great deal of time researching and developing this concept and disseminating it as broadly as I can and will continue to do so. Any assistance that you can lend will be a great help.
Warmest regards,
Gail Spurlock
