Republicans Must Sadly Accept Abortion

Its forty years since Roe vs. Wade.  It’s time that Republicans realized that women do not want to have babies by men they don’t respect and that men don’t want to have babies with women they detest.  This is a matter of immoral convenience.  It is wrong but necessary.

Republicans should give up hope that people would be humane enough to want to save babies.  Abortion is in, following Democratic catechism, and birth is out.

Republicans can’t conquer abortion-selfishness.  It’s time we give in to Democrat’s cruelty and concentrate on other issues that we can win, such as fiscal responsibility and military self-defense.

It would be nice if people would become generous enough to want to raise inconvenient children.  People, despite rhetoric, are just not that decent.

We should stop beating our heads against the rising wall of abortion and try to make compromises with the killers as to time frames, circumstances, rapes and the mother’s health. Perhaps we can be successful on certain issues rather than eat the whole enchilada. Perhaps we can take the Presidency back from the veiled socialists.

Do not let abortion become the still birth of our aspirations.  If we don’t get the leadership back we will find that have sacrificed pragmatic government for rigid principles.

We are throwing out the baby with the bathwater.  We can start by saving the tub.

Unless you're a preacher leading your flock, this issue should not be on the platform.  Religious people should not inflict their views on those who believe otherwise/or not.  Let's stop killing viable children but early stage abortion should not be controlled by politics or the government anymore than the many controls the Progressives are trying to force on us. Let's get back to less government, If you want to get back to the values America held in the 50s - you've got your work cut out for you and you had better start at home and in school.  Once you've accomplished that - then let's talk. We all weren't paying attention as we went off the rails and stomping our foot on a moral subject won't be met with success.  Get back to one issue at a time that we can win, without choosing issues that divide us so much that there will never be a meeting of minds.  It's tough enough to reach them when you have almost 50% of the people believing that the other 50% is supposed to contribute to their quality of life.

Paul Rarey,  Noting your quote about Lutheran doctrine about abortion,  you can bet some of our liberals came up with that statement, and I probably could name the person who wrote this statement.  What in the world is it saying anyway?  What guidance does it really give?   It certainly has the flavor of so called "situation ethics." I don't get any guidance either from the Presbyterian statement.   It seems to me they are both leaving it up to individual choice in the final analysis, uncomfortably close to pro-choice advocates. It seems to me that both churches are just capiitulating to the cultue, instead of giving real guidance.  I can guarantee you that lay Lutherans take these statements from the powers that be, with a grain of salt. Lutherans know that their leaders speak to instead of for them.  Laity are much more conservative in general than their leaders, thank God.

I was really disappointed when Notre Dame cowered to Obama and removed all Christian symbols before he would speak there.  Some of the churches have leadership way to liberal, and have surrendered to the culture, instead of critiquing it, just like the liberal press.   Of course, in time, conservative values are eroded.  I must say that the churches are partly responsible for the drift of our culture, and stand under judgement.  Why has this happened?  Confusion and cowardice, if not outright unfaithfulness.

I believe the government should get out of the marriage business (see Allen Dershowitz's ideas on his website) - However abortion is murder and has lessened people's sensibilities to the right to live in general - note the conversation with liberals now includes euthenasia for the elderly and disabled - the right to life is in our Bill of Rights -- not the right to marriage - but the right to persue happiness is in the Bill of Rights - the law should only protect contracts between individuals - marriage heterosexual and otherwise may entail shared property etc. Killing of the unborn or any one else for "convenience" should be outlawed

Let us look at the issue of abortion in light of the Tenth Amendment:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

I believe that national political parties and the Federal Government should not be involved in the social, moral, and lifestyle choices of the citizenry. As a federal issue neither party should take a stance on abortion, gay marriage, birth control, the legalization of marijuana, or other controversial issues. They do it to get votes and stay in power. These are divisive distractions that should be left to individuals, families, churches, local institutions, and State Governments. Decision making on these and other issues should be made at the lowest possible level and not at the highest levels of the Federal Government. Individual candidates and State Parties may take a stand on these issues. At the national level a one size fits all approach from Washington D.C. is always a disaster. The Bill of Rights is very clear that Congress shall make no law abridging the rights of citizens on many of these issues.  Laws are currently being written that do just that. The only way to stop abortion is to send it back the states to battle it out. The last remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi, the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, has received notice from the Health Department that it intends to revoke the clinic’s operating license after an inspection found that it is has not complied with a state law that requires that all abortionists maintain local hospital privileges.

Mr. Lawrence, you obviously were not one of the "hundreds of thousands" of Right to Life advocates who suffered for your family and loved ones who might be presented with the abortion issue at the Friday Rally in our Nation's capitol.  The voice for the crying 500 million American citizens who have been sacrificed by an equally weak-thinking as yourself - the Supreme Court - heard the hundreds of thousands who still believe murder of an innocent who cannot speak for itself is unforgivable.  I have been rejoicing in the renewable of American spirit present at that rally, and the beauty of this Country on my journey to and from the rally, have made me once again to be a very very proud American.  I am convinced we CAN beat the Roe v. Wade, and I will press as hard as the hundreds of thousands of beautiful, rainbow, spirited Americans I was privileged to march with on Friday.  Nothing in this world can compare to the unitedness of the American spirit at that rally, that we will overcome, and I cry for your weakness in giving up.  I so glad that Senator Rand Paul and Senator McConnell gave such eloquent speeches for the Congressional Breakfast, and Senator Paul for the Rally, itself.  It reaffirms my faith the murderous law will be overturned, and once again I can FEEL I am a proud American.  So sorry, you apparently cannot.
