Real Immigration Reform: A Financial Means Test for Every Applicant

Note: This first appeared in Breitbart.com's Big Government.

We had on Monday an “immigration reform” proposal announced by a bipartisan eight Senator bloc.  And Tuesday we will endure President Barack Obama’s “immigration reform” speech.

“Immigration reform” as proposed by both sides nearly always includes some sort of amnesty “path to citizenship” for illegal aliens.  And no real reform of the way we decide who gets to come here and who does not.  Not to mention the wide-open borders we make but a feigned attempt to enforce.

All of which will lead to increased taxes on us, and increased debt on our children.  Because immigrants are on government programs far more frequently than native born Americans.

  • In 2009 (based on data collected in 2010), 57 percent of households headed by an immigrant (legal and illegal) with children (under 18) used at least one welfare program, compared to 39 percent for native households with children.
  • (H)ouseholds with children comprised entirely of immigrants (no U.S.-born children)...had a welfare use rate of 56 percent in 2009.
  • Illegal immigrant households with children primarily use food assistance and Medicaid, making almost no use of cash or housing assistance. In contrast, legal immigrant households tend to have relatively high use rates for every type of program.

Clearly the answer is not to make illegal aliens legal.  Because that actually increases their use of government programs.  Which makes sense - once “out of the shadows” they are then free to get in the sunshine-washed government money lines.

Nearly everything anyone is proposing as “immigration reform” should be preempted by something simple and rational - a financial means test.

If you are going to be on one or more government programs when you get here - you don’t get here.  And if you are already here and on one or more programs - you can’t advance your residency status.

Applying to be a guest worker?  A resident alien?  A citizen?  Illegally here and want a path to citizenship?  Means tests all round.

Some pro-amnesty folks will respond:

“That’s an argument for welfare reform, not opposition to ‘immigration reform.’”

To which we respond:

“Fine - go first reform welfare, and then get back to us on your definition of ‘immigration reform.’”

We simply cannot afford to continue being the blank check to the planet.

I finally understand why odumbass wanted the dream act so much. It is not for the leftist votes. It is so he can fill the army's ranks with young kids who won't blink an eye if they have to fire on us citizens. Here's your chance to shoot ya some white people. God help us. Evil has taken control. Now I know how Germans must have felt.

Most of the government has sold out. No Rubio will never be president because he is not eligible. And Rubio is a supporter of the NWO. Rubio has been carefully groomed by the infamous Bush tribe. Thank you no.

Rubio sold out.  He is pushing Amnesty because that is what his RINO handlers are telling him to do. Too bad he forgot who put him in that Senate seat: Tea Partiers. That's ok, Marco, enjoy your one term in the Senate, hope you finally pay off your student loans. Because when you run for Pres in 2016, you are in for a rude surprise. The Tea Partiers who put you where you are today will put you right back where we found you. Too bad Rush got on board. Rush is getting soft in his old age. Marco, get ready to go back to your private law practice.

We have somewhere around 14 million unemployed/underemployed Americans, according to bogus Labor statistics.  Even the Far Left should recognize this means there are not enough jobs to create full employment

The Left and slow-thinkers of the Right, will double this number (approximately) over the next few years by granting amnesty.  Only within Washington, deCeit's Inner Belt could this make sense.

obama has, many times, put us On Notice; i.e., he does not want to stop illegals and terrorists at the borders.

Again and again, Republicans lose the bargain with the Wacked-Out-Lefties, while TaxPayers pick up the tab!

Our immigration laws state that any immigration (legal) is suppose to have a sponsor who will oversee the immigrant for five years (not sure of years) and make sure the immigrant has a job. If the immigrant receives any kind of government assistance, it is cause for deportation. If that is the rule for legal immigrants then illegals should not be given amnesty ever. They must all be deported along with obozo and his band of thieves and thugs.

That's not a bad idea.  Self-sustaining tax payers tend to care more about what the government does to them.

Democrat or Republican, the difference is insignificant.  The thrust of their efforts is to do whatever is necessary to keep themselves in power and feeding at the public trough at the expense of tax paying Citizens.  The one thing which should be paramoount in their minds is our Constitution.  It doesn't even figure in the equation for them!  It's all about pandering for votes.  Our Country is finished if we don't purge the system of these despicable professional politicians and that's not going to happen in the rigged game they're in charge of!

Additionally David S ... As I see it thus far, pushing an Hispanic name is the key for the Hispanic vote. Yeah, how'd that work out last time around.
