Obama’s Inaugural Address

During Obama’s inaugural address he reminded me of a well-dressed hippy during the 60’s, shouting out to his followers at Washington DC.  He laid out his radical agenda as if progressive metrosexualism was the future family ideal and the new normal. He appealed to his contingent and ignored the rest of us.  He turned America from a democracy where the majority rules to a factionalized country of radical concerns.

Obama’s inaugural address was mostly lies or subterfuges to get his advantage.  In it Obama couldn’t help but pushing socialist big government.  He talked about how the, “economy requires railroads and highways to speed travel and commerce; schools and colleges to train our workers.”  It was a not so subtly veiled reference to his earlier speech where he told entrepreneurs that they didn’t build their own businesses but were gifted them by the nanny state.

Obama is the same hippie he was at Columbia University. In the sixties I knew students like him.  We smoked pot together.  We protested Vietnam together.  We befriended homosexuals.  We were a dying era.  Obama has brought us back. Only some of us have outgrown his rock and roll culture.  Some of us have become responsible.  Some of us don’t borrow from China like we used to borrow from our parents.

He didn’t miss a trick to push community instead of individuality.  He sounded like Hillary Clinton talking about how it takes a village to raise a child.  It is the old failure to take individual responsibility; the commune versus the family; communism versus democracy. Hillary studied Saul Alinsky.  Obama did do.  It’s a threesome of naïve, angry radicals.

The only way to understand Obama’s deceptive Inaugural Address is to go through it.  We will see that it is a bunch of clichés, lies, utopian ideals and naïve sophomoric pretensions. It is full of pomp and circumstance, signifying itself, nothing.

The Inaugural Address:

In his address Obama hinted at his old desire to shackle Wall Street under regulations, “we discovered that a free market only thrives when there are rules to ensure competition and fair play.”  He didn’t mention that obstreperous rules often lead to the failure of small businesses.

Obama then flat out lied, “we have never relinquished our skepticism of central authority.” Not true.  Obama loves central authority like a deity, like communists love government. 

Obama then brought up his favorite bugaboo about the rich getting more than their fair share, “that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it.” How sophomoric; how pretentious--the old class warfare saw.  He praises broadening the middle class while he taxes them to death and burdens them with an unbearable health care program.                 

Droning on like he is dropping leaflets over Pakistan, Obama says, “We believe that America’s prosperity must rest upon the broad shoulders of a rising middle class.”  Then why has Obama increased unemployment and left the middle class scrounging to pay their bills?  Does he ever coordinate his speeches with his actual results?

He recognizes the need for new ideas and technology but doesn’t warn against taking false expensive cures like solar panels and windmills.  He mentions reforming our tax code and our schools but doesn’t say how.  He goes on to say that “our purpose endures: a nation that rewards the effort and determination of every single American. That is what this moment requires. That is what will give real meaning to our creed.”  

Isn’t it ridiculous for him to talk about our nation rewarding “the effort and determination of every single American” when his speechifying and ambitious efforts have given him one of the most lavish life styles in the world, certainly, the most lavish and expensive ever at the White House.   Where are his other middle class brothers who managed to achieve law degrees? Where is the reward of their “effort and determination”?  They are working in boring offices.  Waiting for a vacation in Miami, not a multimillion dollar trip to Hawaii?  And where are his brothers who didn’t graduate from college.  Eating his speeches for dinner.

Here goes another lie-- Obama talks about , “ We must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit.”  There is no chance that Affordable Health Care will reduce the cost of health care and Obama has expanded our deficit more than any president in history. 

He fantasizes that  “The commitments we make to each other – through Medicare, and Medicaid, and Social Security – these things do not sap our initiative; they strengthen us.”  Like he invented these social services.  Like every other President didn’t also support them.  Like he isn’t bankrupting them by not coming up with new fiscal solutions and failing to keep us solvent. Like he hasn’t thrown Paul Ryan’s fiscal ideas in the ash heap.

He can’t resist the possible science of climate change.  He has thrown away fortunes on bogus solutions like a high school sophomore bringing a gyp sheet to class. Obama likes to throw around carbon footprints and global warming. He brings about the weather cataclysms of Biblical proportions that he considers more urgent than nuclear Iran or our dependency on Middle East oil.  His priorities are out of joint.

He rages against war.  Who wouldn’t?  It scores Brownie points. He takes credit for Bush ending the war in Iraq. He doesn’t remind us that he was all too eager to attack Afghanistan as a political ploy against Bush’s effective warfare in Iraq.

While Obama is stripping our army, air force, navy and nuclear weapons, he lies that, “America will remain the anchor of strong alliances in every corner of the globe; and we will renew those institutions that extend our capacity to manage crisis abroad, for no one has a greater stake in a peaceful world than its most powerful nation.”  With what money, Mr. Solar Panels?  Ronald Regan bankrupted Russia in the cold war and we won.  Obama is bankrupting us and forcing us to lose.

Obama then raises the boring, old, already accomplished goal of “our wives, our mothers, and daughters (earning) a living equal to their efforts.”  Hasn’t this been done to death?  Can’t the left come up with something new or practical?

Women are doing well in America. Instead of Obama’s irritating them into feeling cheated he should encourage them to help their sisters in Moslem countries where they are being honor killed.

Obama has now reinvented gays from being possible perverts to being the brothers of the black slaves who were mistreated for nothing.  He says he can’t wait until, “our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.”  That’s a token to his gay voters and his liberal heart-bleeders.

Obama doesn’t care that gay marriage undercuts the reproductive institution of marriage and destructures family. In fact there are studies beginning to leak out that single sex marriage produces screwed up adopted children.   Accepting gay marriage is a ploy by Obama to seem politically correct. It is no way proven to be effective.

Obama goes on, “Our journey is not complete until we find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as a land of opportunity.”  What’s he talking about? If millions of immigrants didn’t see America as a land of opportunity why would they be coming here in droves? Does he want to encourage more illegal aliens when we don’t have enough jobs for our citizens or for our legal aliens?

Obama talks a good game but our country loses when he’s at bat.  You have to look at the pitch to hit it.  You can’t just swing wily nily.

He then throws in his naïve, irrelevant dream of gun control without a solution, “Our journey is not complete until all our children, from the streets of Detroit to the hills of Appalachia to the quiet lanes of Newtown, know that they are cared for, and cherished, and always safe from harm.”

Obama tells us in dictatorial fashion that his ideas are urgent, that we can’t wait, that “we must act.” It is the rush to push his utopian ideas through again like he did on his monstrosity, the Affordable Health Care Bill, which he now admits isn’t that affordable. 

In the end the most nouveau riche president in history makes his usual modest appeal to parity with the middle class, immigrants and soldiers, “My fellow Americans, the oath I have sworn before you today, was an oath to God and country, not party or faction…”  Another attempt to pretend he is not divisive when he is preaching division.  

Obama says, “You and I, as citizens, have the power to set this country’s course.”  Which he has set in a bankrupted direction.

He then says, “You and I, as citizens, have the obligation to shape the debates of our time – not only with the votes we cast, but with the voices we lift in defense of our most ancient values and enduring ideals.”  Gee, since when, is same sex marriage our most ancient and enduring value. Obama, you are ahead of us.  But you are going in the wrong direction.

Your speech was full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.  The American public rubs their noses like cattle in the trough of your rhetoric only to get shocked in the butts by our failing economy and the rise of more serious, ambitious warlike nations. 

Talk is cheap.  Unfortunately, Obama, yours costs us dearly.
