I suspect that Barack Obama has been told by his pollsters that he is going to lose.
Most certainly whenever Messeurs Axelrod and Ploufe, his political brain trust, get on television to respond to questions about how he will fix the economy, all one hears are the same tired excuses and empty promises. The news headlines these days tell another story.
Headline – Libya: The White House handling of the Libyan attack has already been dubbed “Benghazi-Gate” and revealed the level of contempt the White House has for the intelligence of Americans. Bad enough Americans are angry that an American ambassador lost his life in a 9/11 anniversary al Qaeda attack, no one with ten brain cells to rub together believes it was about an amateur movie no one had seen.
Headline – Afghanistan: After wars in Afghanistan—still ongoing—and in Iraq, Americans are extremely wary of the U.S. becoming embroiled in more conflict and yet Obama’s handing of foreign affairs, particularly in the Middle East, appears to have exacerbated events there. An unavoidable conflict with Iran looms ahead and Americans believe that Israel and our homeland must be defended. Obama gives little indication he would, but a President Romney leaves no doubt in their minds.
Headline – Foreign Policy: Overall, the impression is that Obama has weakened the nation when it comes to foreign policy despite the fact that it, along with defense, is a primary duty of any President. All the electric cars and bankrupt solar companies are no substitute.
Headline – Energy: The vast reservoirs of oil, natural gas, and coal that have either been under attack or restricted by the Obama administration along with the jobs they represent. Yet another reason for voters to elect Romney. Obama’s decision to deter the building of the XL Pipeline from Canada is still relatively fresh in the minds of voters and the shutdown of coal mines and power plants has had a ripple effect among those who make their living in these industries.
Headline – Fast and Furious: Still another scandal is bubbling up to the surface of voter concern. “Fast and Furious”, a Justice Department gun-running fiasco that got a U.S. border guard killed along with hundreds of Mexicans was just featured on Univision, a popular channel among Hispanics, and the White House has been counting on that demographic for support.
Headline: Gay Marriage: Obama’s refusal to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act and his endorsement of gay marriage could prove a deal-breaker among a lot of people who might otherwise vote for him.
Headline – Obamacare: I think the White House continues to underestimate the level of anger over having Obamacare forced upon us. Most polls show that at least half or more respondents expect it to be repealed IF Romney is elected and guess who they will vote for? Having taken $716 billion out of Medicare to pay for Obamacare, the reality of death panels has no appeal for the nation’s senior citizens who vote in large numbers.
Headline – Vacations: The lavish lifestyle of the Obama’s while he has been President had not been lost on a nation in which 23 million Americans cannot find a job or have given up looking for one. The debt load on new college graduates is cause for much less enthusiasm for a second Obama term in office.
Headline – The Economy: In the end, it is the economy that will dominate the outcome of the election and, no matter what the polls say—now widely regarded as manipulative—and what the mainstream media reports, the facts and the failures of the Obama years are known to Americans no matter how many times he tries to blame Bush for them. The stimulus failed. The Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing (printing money) has failed. Add in 43 straight months of unemployment at 8% (but actually closer to 12% to 15%). There is no recovery and no prospect of one if Obama is reelected.
It adds up to a torrent of bad news for Obama and that, dear reader, is the good news as the elections on November 6 draw closer with every passing day.

Comment by W. H. "Skip" Free on October 3, 2012 at 5:33pm Headline: The Auto Bailout. WHile Obama's moves may have kept GM afloat, what it really did was throw bankruptcy law out the window. It gave an unsecured creditor (the UAW) a preferential stake against a secured creditor (the GM bondholders.) My guess is that there are a lot of folks who are retired who were counting on those GM bonds to be part of their retirement. Now they're virtually worthless. Had GM gone through a "structured" bankruptcy (as Romney has suggested) the UAW contracts would have been voided and renegotiated which would have put GM on a more solid footing and kept the ngovernment out of ANOTHER business they no nothing about: the car business.

Comment by Kate Bowe on October 3, 2012 at 10:35am Is this possible the reason there are no Fast and Furious records to be found? I don't know, I am just asking.
Comment by Kate Bowe on October 3, 2012 at 10:32am Is this article stating what I think it is?
I read a lot of articles sent to me, but I haven't heard this before. Is it stating that this administration is deliberately hidding and getting rid of government information illegally? Is this not any different than other administrations have done, or something new?

Comment by Billy Bowlegs on October 3, 2012 at 9:02am Jeff,
Cowboys of the old west would stop a cattle stampede by cutting off their stampede'r
A stampede is an act of mass impulse among herd animals or a crowd of people in which the herd (or crowd) collectively begins running with no clear direction or purpose.
This probably clarifies how Obama has been managing the US Economy and screwing up the World Economy at the same time.
You can see in recent news that his Foreign Policy is causing a MUSLIM Stampede in the middle east. Too bad they have no direction except the next sand dune to conqueer.
November, we need to cut off Obozo's teleprompte'r and Congress putting the money in Obozo's bank account.
Comment by Gail E. Engelhardt on October 3, 2012 at 9:01am The comments by Jeff B. Willis are absolutely correct on the people Obama has bought and paid for their votes by providing them bennies they have worked for in the vast majority of the cases plus the Union voters who have contributed mightyly to Obama's campaign. However, It is Obama who has been playing the race card for years before and after he got elected. He can't stand on his accomplishments for the past yearly 4 years, so he has to resort to class warfare and racism as the excuse for why he is disliked by the voters he can't buy or non-union workers. The Conservatives, Independents and most Republicans are on board with OMG - Obama Must Go! Rules for Radicals is Obama's Bible not the Holy Bible or the Koran.
Obama's constituency is made of a (a) entitlees, (b) "Pleb yea ih"(semi-illiterate, know nothings chanting slogans in cheerleader fashion who are unable to read at a 4th grade level, (c) "bought and paid fors," these are public sector workers who have lived well during the recession (d) left wing fringe elitists, holding Marxist leanings.
Unfortunately, we may be talking about one-third of the country! When you add the expected Union block vote, you are at 40%.
The good news is, "it's not enough!" Yet, with a media that resembles "Pravda" with each passing day, many Americans have been hoodwinked into believing that everything is A.O.K.!
Romney's challenge is to convince enough of his countrymen that Obama is pushing poisened fruit! If he makes his case to enough of those not a part of the "40 percent," he'll win. His wild card will be Union workers and his ability to convince them that his policies and not Obama's will be to their benefit.
Tragically, Mitt Romney is dealing with an opponent who will do or say anything to win. The President will play the race card if he is feels that he is losing. That would be a disaster. We have made tremendous progress in race relations. Obama's election is proof of it! To resort to such a tactic would be the ultimate sin! Win or lose, we still must think about the nation, as a whole. Obama talked about "uniting" the country. All indications suggest that he has done the exact opposite.
