Pope Francis, the first Pope of that royal name, was elected by the cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church on March 13, 2013.

Francis is the first pope of the Americas, a region that nobody believed (but many hoped) a pope would come from.

Like Benedict XVI, however, Francis is faced with a challenge - the liberal media.

Recall that when Pope Benedict XVI was elected, the Mainstream Media 1.0 hated him. He was not only very conservative but very educated, serving an academic position and acting as a ghostwriter for Pope John Paul II during his later years. Benedict XVI was very conservative during his papacy, most notably with his executive order allowing churches to vote to offer the Tridentine Rite (Latin Mass), though he tended to be liberal at times.

The liberal Mainstream Media did everything they could to dig up scandals on Benedict XVI, frequently including a call for him to resign with every article published (as well as consistent attempts to push him into allowing abortion, euthanasia, female priesthood, and gay marriage and adoption).

When Benedict XVI did resign, the Mainstream Media started pulling the same tricks on Francis I. Francis has already stated his opposition to gay families and abortion. Digging up a military scandal, and having Michael Moore release a fake photo of a non-Francis giving Communion to an Argentinian dictator, accompanies pushing the liberal agenda with regard to abortion, gay marriage, female priesthood, etc.

There is no reason for the Mainstream Media to do this. Catholics are not required by their faith to agree with the pope 100% on everything, nor is anyone forced to be Catholic. One can change their religion anytime, or start their own church, as the Society of St. Pius X did in their opposition to Vatican II and the New Mass.

Sometimes the Mainstream Media 1.0 and the liberal agenda it pushes is very obvious. This has consistently been the case with its constant attempt to bully the Catholic Church into approving abortion and other liberal causes. This happened during the reign of Benedict XVI, and will continue to happen under Francis I.

As is our right under a secular democratic republic, we are free to believe what we choose to believe. If you disagree with someone else's beliefs, feel free to tell them yours, but don't bully or judge them. Intimidation is never the answer.

I hope this Pope will take control over the Soverign Knights of Malta and the Vatican Bank.

In this century we can not be running dirty tricks, like when the Protestants came to power.  I hope he can confront the Muslims for killing Christians and burning churches. He definitely needs to jettison the P2 Freemasons.

The MSM exudes hate, if it is not on their Socialistic agenda, they preach hate, criticize, character assassination is their best role.  Frankly, how people can continue to absorb their venom amazes me.  I think, gradually, little by little, the light is beginning to come on..............all that stuff they have been telling you, about how great things are, is just not quite panning out, and people are begining to come out of their sleep walk.

We, as of today, live in a Free Country, and what you believe is your business, if something you are following will produce harm to others, that is a different story.

This is the day of Punish the Innocent and Reward the Guilty.

Your posts give me hope.  In fact.. when most regular people talk i am hopeful that there is sanity in the world. When politicians and that cesspool we refer to as the media speaks I feel as if I am all alone in the world.

David Letterman, as usual, made fun of the Pope and Catholics. He once tried to get Bill O'Reilly to say that Rush Limbaugh was the "face of the Republican Party", repeating it three times even out of context.  The fact is, David Letterman is a voice of the Democratic Party.

it is obvious that the media is more interested in sensational stories than in reporting real news. everything they write is editorials, rather than real news. some of the blogs on the Huffington Post are meant to be offensive, deriding and besmirching the Catholic Church, making demands on greater charity - as in "selling all the gold and art treasures to feed the poor" , calling us "cults" and other names, and denying us even existence.

in my book: its jealosy, pure and simple. the wonderful evening when Cardinal Bergoglio was elected, his First Mass today - nothing compares to the beauty and the devotion of the rest of the world to this man. yes, he will teach the world to care for the poor, give them hope and teach them to better themselves, and to put the emphasis on Faith rather than effectiveness. we are truly blessed.  Viva il Papa! Vivat Jesus!

We are all very familiar with the Liberal Media stand and their bullying technics.

Roman Catholics are very devoted to the church, more so than most Evangelicals, of which I am one. I respect the Catholic Church - we Evangelicals differ in the details, but agree on the important points of the Trinity, the Divinity of Christ, and the path to Salvation.
