Medicare VS Medicaid

Medicare which is suppose to be for the senior citizens, which they pay a monthly payment for. Medicaid is for the poor which is free, this the program that has increased over the last few years. I understand that this is partly because of people losing there jobs. but the other reason is that there are millions of illegals and there families getting medicaid. The reason is that our goverment workers, who run this program do not do a good job of screening the people who apply. Many illegals us fake ID's Medicaid is the program that needs the most attention. I agree that every state should run the medicaid program because there can do a better job of screening just who is getting it. The state leaders know they will be kicked out if they don't do a good job, they answer more to the people of the state.

Which also would encourage the various States to better control their illegal populations. Return all Welfare to the States as well, as it was in the pre-LBJ days:the Great Society, and, particularly, "creative Federalism"

What we are seeing today are largely the logical outcomes of unconstitutional denial of the 10th amendment.

With the goverment running the medicaid program these expenses are pushing on the rest of us thru our federal taxes.

I am not a big fan of Haley Barbour, but he did a very good job of rooting out Medicare/Medicaid fraud in his state, and cut the costs of those programs by almost one-half as a result.

Comment by Vern Shotwell on April 16, 2011 at 7:14am: Medicare should indeed exist, funded entirely by and expended entirely on those who have funded it. So should SSI, by the way, as it did before LBJ and a Dem congress took it's receipts into the General Fund.

Medicaid should indeed be a State or local function: deals with local residents. No federal involvement, not even name, structure or funding in any way for this charity. There was something called the 10th amendment, I believe....
