I believe the state shouldn't have their religion supersede the faith of the people by declaring that marriage between a man and man is the same as between a man and wife. Adults have the right to have sexual relationships the way they desire but shouldn't pressure others into having to accept that way of life.

the only thing being threatened by marriage equality is the ability of churches to write their religious dogmas into civil law.

I think that the whole arguement over this issue has been framed incorrectly. While I think that everyone should be treated equally with equal rights and responsibilities, we must remember that marriage is NOT a God-given right. Marriage is a religious construct and as such, should be subject to the mores of religious beliefs.

With this in mind, I cannot think of a single major religion in the world that condones homosexuality. The Bible speaks about it being an abomination and the Koran expressly forbids it as does Hinduism.

I think that many people would have no problem with "Civil Unions" that have equal rights as marriage, but forcing people of faith, ANY faith, to accept putiing a religious label on something that runs counter to their beliefs is a bad idea.

Your personal belief is that marriage is between a man and a woman. Believe what you will. no prob. But in a civil society,  people should be able to marry whomever they want, and it’s no business of yours or anyone's if two men or two women want to get married. The idea that allowing two loving, committed people to marry would have any impact on your life, or your family’s life, is absurd.
