Is Romney going to follow the same path as Obama?

There are many major news items right now, many of which the MSM will ignore.  But I hope that anyone who reads this blog will copy and paste it and send it to their other Conservative web sites, their local media, and their address book on-line.

The news:  1.  Romney is having Marco Rubio vetted for possible Vice Presidency. This takes away all the original American Constitution demands that a President or VP can only be a natural-born citizen. It has always been obvious that Obama is not eligible to be President because he is not a "natural-born citizen." (a. he is a dual-citizen--his father was British; b. his stepfather made him an Indonesian citizen when he adopted him, which he never rescinded; and c. there is enough evidence to drown a crocodile that he was not born in Hawaii.)  However, for whatever reason, he was never vetted by Congress, the Judicial System, or any political or media agency to make sure he was eligible.  (The mystery grows!)

Marco Rubio is also ineligible (despite his new book "The American Son," because he was born to Cuban parents, who never even applied for American citizenship until years after Marco was born.  Jindal has the same problem.  Romney has plenty of other great Americans to choose from to be VP, and he should think about what that VP could bring that he lacks:  political knowledge or experience in one of the important fields, like national security, bringing our own energy back to life to make us energy independent, or the Conservative patriotism he lacks that would bring voters to him.  He bought his nomination, so he should choose someone who earned the VP post to make it up to those who don't respect the idea of buying the office.

Other News:

Obama declares Executive Privilege regarding documents concerning "Fast and Furious," which is supposed to mean that he also knows all about or is part of the whole coverup. This was supposedly at Eric Holder's request so that he could not be held in Contempt of Court.  But according to Issa, that won't stop the proceeding, because he has been stonewalling for eight months. We need a special prosecutor that will not be accountable to the AG so that if the Congress decides to Recall him, he will be gone, even if he doesn't want to resign.  The same goes for Obama--it is long past time for him to be either arrested for Treason (faked illegibility and my choice so we can undo all the damage he has done) or Impeached for going over the heads of Congress in his ~900 Executive Orders, choosing Czars that were not approved by Congress; and showing that he is doing everything he can to steal the next election (the Dream Act,) sending the ballots to a foreign country where we the people will not be able to verify the votes, etc.

I could go on and on, but if anyone reads anything besides the MSM and watches Fox (which is turning more progressive all the time,) they can do their own research.  Please don't let Rubio or Jindal become VP. They can be on the Cabinet with Palin, Gingrich, Paul, Bachmann, Perry, Adams, and Caine.  Honor our Constitution!!

I am sorry. Based on other findings of this 1875 court, I rate them with the Taney Court in 1857 as having handed down a fundamentally flawed decision.

A 137-year-old bad decision should not be compounded by a second error.

 Tea Party people better get their heads out of the clouds! Otherwise, in their efforts toward attaining perceived constitutional purity, they will destroy the nation that they love.

I say if we want to uphold the Constitution and CURRENT precedent says they are not Natural Born, then we must not put them on the ticket. As much as I support Senator Rubio and Governor Jindal, we either are or are not a nation of laws. Review of such cases or precedents by the Supreme Court are not uncommon if someone sues over the statute. There are in existence enough writings by the founders and others of the time that support a change to the precedent of the 1875 SCOTUS, but until such changes are enacted we MUST follow the Law. If WE choose to not follow the Law, we are no better than the Liberals who seek to destroy this country from within. The Law is the Law and should be followed and enforced. Otherwise we are no better than the "Obamites" eating away at the foundations of our country.

Well for those who insist on the 1875 SCOTUS case being the benchmark, you obviously agree that Obama is likewise ineligible. It's likely that will you draw arguments from Democrats. Not to say that it makes any difference! It doesn't! But, count on one thing: They will say that your motivation is "racial."

To disqualify Rubio for VP, when it's probable that without him on the ticket, we will lose Florida and with it, the general election, is "shooting ourselves in the foot." We need a final definition; or a new amendment that will clarify this question. Until then, we can kill our guy while the Democrats whistle Dixie!

There is a saying that "two wrongs don't make a right."
But I am not such an ideologue that I would put Obama back into the White House on what is as best, "an extreme gray area" observation!

Rubio's parents naturalized in '75. But, unlike Obama's father, who was a British citizen, they both held "permanent resident alien(green card) status in '71 when he was born. The Supreme Court didn't address this distinction in 1875. And I believe it is most definitely significant!

There are simply those would would use this argument as an excuse to disqualify Rubio and Jindal. Why?

"Take three guesses and the first two don't count!"

Same Question:  Why was Minor V. Happersett electronically hidden from on-line research since 2007 until discovered in late 2010 or early 2011.  Justigate.COM deal.  Also, why has the SCOTUS been so quiet about the distortion of Supreme Court Decisions.  GOOGLE DONOFRIO and read his postings.

Millions would have been spend hiding all this information from public search engines.

And still see no reason that Jindal and Rubio are not eligible.  It is born of two parents who were citizens at time of birth (not five years after) - noting else and very simple.  It is a simple concept; simple Constitutional Requirement, and to go against our own Constitution in any way is criminal.  Vote for Rubio or Gindal as P or VP Candidates and you give up your constitution.  Does not mean they are not smart and good people.  They are.  Just not eligible.

But Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't born in the United States. We all know that. This is a poor analogy.

My point is, we just don't have enough evidence from previous review of our founders intent to disqualify a person who was born in the United States from being President or Vice Presicent. Rubio and Jindal were born in the country. They can prove it.

It's very obvious that we need Court attention. Or, better yet, an amendment that will spell out the actual meaning.

I am amazed at the determination of some to look at this issue from such an absolute perspective! If the case is that strong, why can't we pressure the court to review it immediately? We were able to get them to visit the health care law. Based on some of the convictions expressed by good people who contribute to this blog, it should merit immeidate attention. Obviously, if the Supreme Court sides with these good people, Obama would be disqualified from running in November. That is evidently the goal. But will our leaders get behind it? My guess is, "probably not."

Therefore, we are left with an obvious choice: We can hold firm to our conviction that the 1875 case was the correct posture, reject great potential leaders such as Rubio and Jindal, who could bring millions to the Republican Party. Or, we can assume that this 1875 SCOTUS opinion "deviated from actual original intent." In choosing the latter, we could move forth with decisive legislation such as the "E" Amendment that would settle it once and for all.

I believe that we can unify this country. But we must remember that "we amend the constitution to protect it."

Jeff B. Willis,

Ask Orrin Hatch what walls he hit when he pushed to get Arnold Schwarzenegger for POTUS about 8 years ago. (no prompting allowed)

I'm sorry Eddie and David. I just can't find where Jindal and Rubio are ineligible. I have looked. I have attempted to keep an open mind. It's just not there; other than this obscure 1875 Supreme Court decision. This decision also affirmed "no suffrage" for women. It's just isn't strong enough!

When I look at the 14th amendment and the original writings by the founders, I don't see sufficient evidence to say, "they are not eligible." Therefore, until we have a definitive ruling, handed down by a contemporary court, I will hold to my conviction!

David, you may be right about Boehner! He isn't leading. But why would the Republican party be opposed to the "E" Amendment? I can see some far left Democrats who would see "100% literacy" as a threat!. But why would Republicans be opposed to it?  Yes, perhaps some Fortune 500 companies might be threatened by a limited ban on offshore outsourcing. But identity theft hurts everyone! Including big business!

We are divided on this "natural born citizen" question. My gut tells me that the majority of the country would declare Rubio and Jindal eligible.  Besides, if Rubio is not on the ticket with Romney this fall, I think that Republicans will lose. I realize that there are a lot of Americans who would rather lose the election than compromise their beliefs. I respect that. Hopefully, they are few!

When the Republican establishment spirited Mitt Romney to the nomination, they created this dilemma. Mitt is weakest with Hispanics, women under 45, "blue collar" Democrats and voters under 30!.That's a problem! Now, we must deal with it. Rubio can shore up some of these gaps. But, even without an election, I think Marco Rubio is not only constititionally eligible, but the leader that America has long awaited.

This obscure SCOTUS "1875 misunderstanding " is providing Democrats with the ultimate reprieve! They are scared to death of Marco Rubio! The only thing standing between America and a decisive conservative leader and future president are those in our party who cling to this "misunderstanding." I only wish he were on the top of the ticket, with Romney as Vice President!

Most independents aren't buying the 1875 SCOTUS case. But they are very impressed with Marco Rubio. Perhaps they see what I see. This is a chance to rebuild the party. We must reach out to ethnic minorities, women and young people. The "1875 SCOTUS people" are not doing this. In effect, they are alienating new Americans and future Republicans. First and second generation Americans are giving the Republicans party a look. How we handle this question will determine whether we live or die. I know that there are those who would rather die than experience a "paradigm shift." However, until we get a more clear interpretation, lets not be pre-mature. The "E" Amendment would fix this problem. But "fishing Speaker Boehner off the golf course and telling him to get to work" might be our biggest challenge!

In short, we must get past this difference! There is nothing in our founding fathers' writings that support the 1875 ruling. That court was a "snapshot" in history. The 1857 Taney court which rendered Dred Scott was likewise a "snapshot" in history. It is fortunate that the country didn't take that decision as "gospel," although many wanted it to!  A few people today are reacting in the same manner, attributing too much to this 1875 opinion! It's not "gospel!" It's simply a 137-year-old opinion of an interpretation of our founding fathers intent. Those same justices also affirmed that women were not meant to have the right to vote.

For the sake of America, we must bury this notion immediately. The Democrats hope that we don't! They are literally counting on our inability to look past a 137-year-old opinion!  They are positioning the Tea party as a bunch of "bigoted, right wing fringe elements." We must change that perception! This stubborn insistence on "a convenient" interpretation of who is eligible to be president is pushing away a lot of solid conservatives whom the party needs.

I'm sorry folks! I am not with you on your "natural born citizen" interpretation. And I have read the constitution! And, I am definitely not a RINO! Last time that I checked, most of the party leadership, as well as most independents were in my court. Ask Newt Gingrich! Ask Rick Santorum! Ask Jeb Bush! Ask Michelle Bachmann! Ask Rick Perry! Ask Mike Huckabee! Ask Jim DeMint! They are with me!

GET OVER IT!

Comment by Edie Boudreau on June 24, 2012 at 7:09pm

I wrote this blog because I kept reading blogs and watching FOX NEWS commentators pushing Marco Rubio for VP, even though, if they have read the Constitution at all, they know that he is ineligible, just as is Jindal, because they are NOT natural-born citizens, which our Constitution demands.  I have not posted about this again because I spent my time reading the replies, and forcing myself not to destroy my computer!!

I cannot believe that so few people have either not read the Constitution, or put some corrupt judge's decision as a correction, don't know their political history at all, or just don't care that if we ignore (and destroy) our Constitution, it doesn't matter as long as Romney wins!!  They are ignoring the original question--is Romney going to ignore the Constitution too??  Is he Obama Lite?  If we can keep the House and win the Senate, I think even though he is a flip-flopper, he will work as a true Republican, and even pay attention to the Conservatives. He can appoint all these true Conservatives to his Cabinet, or to other important positions.

They are also ignoring my original suggestion!  With Holder on the Hot Seat for his actions (or inactions) on the Fast and Furious Congressional demands, and now Obama issuing an Executive Power Bill that says he can ignore Congress and not give them the documents they wanted more than eight months ago, he has gone so far beyond his power as President --counting the ~900 other Executive Power Bills he passed without Congressional approval, the Czars he appointed without Congressional approval, the Spending Bills he passed without Congressional approval (giving money to our enemies and dissing our allies), the two or three times he has dissed or threatened our Supreme Court, and all other illegal and corrupt acts he has commited with US funds, I cannot understand why not one official politician with the power to charge him with TREASON has not had U.S. Marshalls go and arrest him and put him in prison!!  Does no politician have any guts anymore, or  is their careers more important than our country??  Obama is NOT our King or our Dictator, and if we can throw him out of office before the November election, that means we can throw out all his illegal & corrupt actions.

The next step is for every voter (which means every eligible citizen) must vote against every incumbent politician who cannot prove that he/she is actually working for WE the PEOPLE!!  That means from President all the way down to Mayors or City Councils.  We obviously have to start over if we are going to save America!  And doing something like that may teach them a lesson.  In  my original post I mentioned all the things we must do as an electorate--what we have to get rid of concerning agencies, politicians, corruption, spending, unions, and laws that take away our freedom, so I won't repeat them here.  But for GOD's sake, if now for ours, please start putting our Constitution and country ahead of ourselves or our own opinions.

Jeff B. Willis,

I understand your comment about division vs. getting united, but if the Constitution is not preserved there is no United States left to unify.  The Left will have the whole nation.  They have worked tirelessly to prepare for that for well over 40 years and, with Obama, they are close now.

As much as I want to see Governor Jindall's leadership rise (and Rubio has good points), neither he nor Rubio are Constitutionally eligible.

Rick Santorum never produced his "bona fides" either.  Supposedly, his mother possessed his father's naturalization documents, but to my knowledge, they were never exhibited to serve as proof.

Proof is mandatory.

~~~~~
Here is a perspective from well inside the "Boehner Zone"...
I have lived in the midst of OH's US 8th Congressional District for over 20 years (next door to it for the rest of my life).  I have watched Boehner since he took over from predecessor Buzz Lukens (who had to leave office in a sex scandal and threat of prosecution).
The last time I checked, John Boehner had over $9Million in his campaign fund (more than double that of any other Congressman in Ohio) even though he appears to have no significant opposition this November. He normally beats opponents with 2:1 vote ratios.
He will be re-elected unless he is taken down by some extreme event.
Why?
Boehner is not a brave, inspired leader.  He is a "Do-Nothing / Yes-Man" to RNC machine politics.  His home and business are in a secure enclave -- Republican Cincinnati, in a cluster of Republican counties in southwest Ohio (Hamilton, Clermont, Butler, Warren, plus others northward along the Indiana state line). In the 1990's in Congress, he demonstrated that he will join in with a 'gang' to ambush fools that have clumsily over-played an illegal scam (*IF* Boehner thinks his side's power will be overwhelming and he is SAFE to do so).  Otherwise, he NEVER rocks boats.  He lacks what it takes to take the moves needed to unite and stabilize America (such as advocating your E-Amendment) to help rebuild the Wealth creation machinery of the USA.
He may have education, suits, sun tan, and the right golf clubs, but he lacks the guts, and vision to act anything like a Patriot.
In a more colorful way of saying it:
If this was 1778 and I was a Continental Army Lieutenant, I would assign him to clean hose stalls at a minor fort (under supervision).
Frances,
The Natural Born Citizen question is dividing us when we need to be unified. I know that there are those who would rather lose the election than to give in on this argument. But, from the standpoint of feeling "Caveat Emptor" on Rubio, don't! He's the real deal! I have worked with politicans and campaigns since 1974. I have never found any who inspired me more. He is a deep rooted conservative who is totally self made. Compared to another "blue collar" guy like Bill Clinton, I would say, it's like "comparing George Washington to Martin Van Buren." One was about himself. The other about the nation!
In short, Rubio could do for conservatives what no other leader on the current horizon could do. We need to build a party for the future. We need young, multi-ethnic members. The nation is 16% Hispanic. Rubio especially appeals to immigrants. Many are amazed at how many "new Americans" will be voting for the first time!
Jindal is exceptional. I went to school at L.S.U. I have deep roots in Louisiana. I am pre-disposed to liking anyone from Louisiana. But, Louisiana is not a swing state. The Republicans will win that state no matter who the candidate is.
Florida is key. We win the state, we likely win the election. We lose it, Obama is in for another four years! If Rubio is on the ticket, Florida will be off the board for Democrats. The critical 29 electoral votes will be locked up. Rubio will also likely "ice" Nevada, take Colorado from "toss-up" to "leaning Republican" and take New Mexico from "leaning blue" to "toss-up." Some say that it will take Oregon from "leaning blue" to "tossup." That's not certain. But, Rubio does appeal to under thirty voters. They could make the difference in Oregon, as well as New Mexico.
True, this may not be solely about the election. But if we lose, we are doomed! We simply can't have another four years of Barack Obama! Romney is weakest with "Hispanics, Women under 45, "blue collar" Democrats and Millinials(voters under 30). Rubio brings help to all four sectors.
That's why we must decide if we truly want to get Obama out of the White House. There are those who are deeply concerned with the Natural Born Citizen argument. Still, I think that if given a choice between Obama-Biden(or Clinton) versus Romney-Rubio, they will opt for the latter!
