I think the Republicans are on the right course in the House with all that they have said they would do. In my opinion they have heard the American people and know that they need to do right by the American people because they were elected back but are on probation if you want to say to make sure they do as the American people want or they are gone.
In starting with their Pledge To America the Republicans are on the right track and just need to remain on the track. They need to stay united and not stray from the conservative values. I believe that there are few things that John Boehner has right and needs to make sure they are done. the Republicans need to ban Earmarks, have a vote to Repeal Health Care Bill, and make sure all of the Bush Tax Cut's are extended permanently. The Republicans need to keep the Democrats voting for the Health Care Bill and making President Obama veto the Repeal of Health care if they can get it through the Senate. After President Obama veto's it bring it up for repeal again and keep the Democrats voting for it and maybe by doing this they will be able to get the Health Care bill repealed. They need to get Democratic votes on record and Presidential veto if they can get that also.
I also think the Republicans need to just go down The Pledge To America and do all that they have stated in the pledge. Here is a link to The Pledge To America.
If the Republicans stick to this and do all that they say whether they can get it all past will make a difference. It will also show the American people that they are working for them. I believe this time big change can be made and the reforming on how Washington can start. What is not able to be done now can be finished after the 2012 presidential elections when we will have a Republican president and congress.
One other good thing being done is by Rep. Eric Cantor is bringing one thing up for a vote each week that the people decide needs to be cut from the UCUT program he started before the election were he brought one thing up to cut each week for a vote on the floor of the House.
I believe that the Republicans are on course. We as Americans just have to make sure they stay on course. I think the next two years some change can be made but it won't be easy. The first has been started by the elections.
One other good thing John Boehner is doing is putting many of the younger Republicans in the leadership roles when they take control in January. Here are a few:
Eric Cantor -Majority leader
Kevin McCarthy -Majority Whip
Paul Ryan -Budget committee Chairman
To me it is looking very promising and I hope big progress is made in the next two years.
