So what do you think the solution to the problem that the above chart shows would be according to the balanced approach as advocated by our President and his minions? We not only own $16.4 Trillion to other people, but our current plan of action is to increase that amount by over $1 Trillion each and every year, in perpetuity. According to Barack Obama, our President, the poor federal behemoth known as our government can not possibly get by on the paltry sum of just $2.5 Trillion that it robs each and every year from, "We The People." In fact, according to his balanced approach, not only do they need at least $3.5 Trillion bones this year, but that minimum number needed to provide free crap for the have nots is going to increase each and every year, for ever.
The problem of course is that no matter what he or we do with tax rates, there is no way that we will ever be able to cover the nut for our government that Barack Obama envisions for us. Our President, despite all evidence to the contrary, is not an idiot. He knows this, and apparently has a solution to the problem. Behold, the Trillion Dollar Coin.
Can this magic solution, worth at least a Billion of Jack's magic seeds each promising to grow a magic bean stock actually be a viable solution? As it turns out, no. Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution grants authority to mint coins and create our currency expressly to the Congress. And here by the way, John Boehner should take notice. He has the power, with his speakership to stop the devaluation of our currency. The U.S. House of Representatives can put an end to the endless Quantitative Easing.
From Article 1, Section 8, one of 27 specific powers Granted to the Legislative Branch according to our Constitution:
To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign
Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
I can not believe that we have reached a point in our history where we are tolerating, collectively speaking, a group of dolts who would even entertain such idiocy as this. Minting a $1 Trillion coin, depositing it from the left pocket to the right, and then just edicting that our problems have been magicked away. Having a President who is operating in a completely lawless manner, telling anyone who will listen, that our founding document deserves to be scrapped because it failed to tackle the problem of redistributive justice is bad enough. Having that same President and his team operate as if our entire reality now includes Unicorns and other mythical creatures is taking his inept arrogance to a whole new level.
I know that somewhere in the Universe, there exists a person who loves this country, as it was founded, enough to take the stand to put an end to Barack Obama's insistence on fostering our self destruction. Unfortunately, that person does not hold the only office in the land with the capability to put an end to this. John Boehner holds that office. Sure, the Judiciary probably will strike down a lot of this when the wheels of our justice system catch up to what's been happening, but we don't have the decade and a half to await for that to happen. Our stand is, for lack of anything better, the House of Representatives.
So, here is my open plea to John Boehner: You campaigned for the job of being the only opposition that stood between Barack Obama and his realization of this dream he has to destroy our nation. There are probably 150 other guys in your deliberative body who are better suited for this position than you are, but you won the seat. So live up to it already. Grow a pair and use the full weight of your Constitutional authority to stop this nonsense. A $1 Trillion coin will not be minted without your say so. Incurring debt is also one of the powers specifically granted to the Congress according to Article 1, Section 8, (and by the way was not altered by the Fourteenth Amendment as some would have us all believe.) All spending starts in the House. You can stop Quantitative Easing, simply by denying Timmy Geitner that ability. Put your faith in the Constitution, and pass budgets, say no, and allow the government to shut down, just like Newt Gingrich did. For all the crap that Newt Gingrich takes over his supposed baggage, he still remains the only American political leader to ever cut actual spending.
There is something that we all can do to help as well, and that is to get on the phone with our various Congress Critters and beseech them to toe the line. We have had enough of this.

Try as we might, we won't win; on this playing field. We need to change the dynamics. People must come to their senses and realize that there are only two options. The preferable one is a peaceful separation.
Comment by Laserdog on January 9, 2013 at 2:24pm The real revolution will start when we remove our dependence from the corporate-financier-oligarchy which controls us no matter who is elected. This is why nothing changes. Become as independent as you can.
