How To Take Part In Setting A Tea Party Agenda

Several of the people who submit posts here have mentioned the need for a Tea Party agenda. I believe that the need is acute, but we need to get off the ground and start to fly with one! We need to let the Republican Party know how strong we are and that we aren’t prepared to sit in the back taking direction any longer. Conversely, we intend to drive policy direction until such time as the United States once again returns to constitutional government and power is returned to the states and the citizens. Washington must downsize.

To begin, let’s create a list of potential Tea Party Agenda items and then post them here individually, with numbers. For example we could post “Tea Party Agenda Item #1: Balance the Budget”, then “Tea Party Agenda Item #2: Abolish the Department of Energy”, and so on. On an established date, we could post perhaps thirty of these policy items. Then, over a three or four day period, we would vote on them with “likes”. That is, at the end of a specified period of time, we could tally the “likes” received” on each item and build an agenda around the top ten or fifteen items, prioritized by “likes”.

Then, perhaps the drivers of Tea Party Nation – Judson Phillips or others -- could select one or two representatives from among the members of each state, to take the agenda to the Republican State Committee, the party heads in the state congress and their local Republican US congressman and senators.

It wouldn’t be perfect, but it’s a start. We’ve got to start somewhere. Writing here is important, but it’s not the answer. We’ve got to get active, show our numbers and show that we know what’s going on now, what’s been going on in the past and make it clear that we intend to change the status quo – or at least work hard toward that end. We can do it with them or without them. How do they want it? Let’s put the ball in their court. Their response will give us direction.

I propose that congress pass a constitutional amendment to limit each bill to a single subject /issue and the bill shall not be amended without the vote of the full house and senate , and the title of the bill must reflect the purpose of the bill.

This eliminates any congressman or senator from inserting pork barrel spending before or after the bill is approved as is currently the practice.

I say a constitutional amendment as opposed to a statute law because the latter can be easily repealed. (i.e. remember the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings act to cut spending and balance the budget? )

If it were a constitutional amendment instead of a statute law we would not have a 16 trillion dollar national debt today.

I see what you mean, Billy, but the advantage of doing as we currently do is that you are kept more up to date than you would you way. I don't know about you, but when I want to read some particular comment, it is easier to be able to click on a link to it in an email.

Are you using Outlook?  Got message rules set up?  I'd be glad to show you how...

Add me as a friend, and we can continue this discussion away from this blog, since we are way off-topic.

I'm just saying that I would like one email sent per day with a link to all of the different articles for that day.  Between TPN and Judson I think many are just as overwhelmed as I am. I understand the "Stop Following link".

I think the poll is a great idea, but would encourage a limit of emails on it, in an effort to not discourage people that have a limited amount of time, but do care about the issues.

Billy, you have the option to stop receiving emails from each article. Simply click the "Stop Following" link in the emails as you receive them. Otherwise, you are "Following" the articles that you reply to and will get an email every time someone else replies.

The following is a list of items developed by the Colorado River Tea Party in Yuma, Arizona for your Agenda. This list is not a prioritized list, just those items we felt were the most important.

  2. 2.      Balance the Budget
  3. 3.      Eliminate Agenda 21 and the Rural White House Council

  5. 5.      Eliminate the Federal Reserve and the IRS
  6. 6.      Get Government out of the Health Care business
  7. 7.      Enforce Immigration Laws and Secure our Borders

Based on the supreme court ruling on Obamacare there can only be one agenda for the Tea Party.

That is to get rid of Obama and any other senator and congressmen that support Obamacare.

DO IT THIS NOVEMBER!

I have not seen the posting for the agenda development yet, so I will make a suggestion here although it is premature an I think it will probably be low on the list.

Protect the southern borders by using drones to detect illegals entering and relay the information to Border Patrol equipped with helicopters. This should slow the influx.

One of the most important items never considered trials for traitors and corrupt politicians.  WHEN will the thieves and thugs in government be brought to justice.  Will obozo and his band of thieves and thugs be tried for treason and fraud???  Never because it will be business as usual.  If they are prosecuted for their crimes, then the following corrupt group can be prosecuted so that means then they will cover for the past, present and future traitors and thieves.  No justice to our country unless WE the PEOPLE make it an issue.  Everyone involved in obozo's gang (includes judges) should all be tried for not enforcing/upholding the Constitution.  Will punishing the traitors be on the agenda - NO.

So, Jeff, you can see what you are dealing with based on the comments listed here.

There is only one meaningful change which encompasses all issues. The repeal of the 16th amendment. Without the income tax the federal government will only have sufficient revenue to focus it's attention on constitutional responsibilities. It will not  have the money to fund programs which intrude on individual freedoms or create dependency on the government.

All other issues are a waste of time and is likened to "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic".
