Found - A Diamond among the Slag Heap!

I have the sense that I’ve just discovered the needle – or at least a needle, in the proverbial haystack. A field reporter inside the belly of the beast – the legacy, political, corporate media, that has actually dared to contradict that media’s anointed President and his administration.

It’s a little shocking to hear what I’m hearing from anyone drawing a paycheck from CBS News. You might remember the name Lara Logan. She’s the young woman, who while in Egypt, covering the rebellion and protests, was brutally sexually attacked by a mob of thugs in Tahrir Square.

This is the first time I’ve heard Ms. Logan speak at length. It was a bit of a revelation to discover not only the depth of her understanding of the evolution of America’s involvement in Afghanistan and the region in general.

You would expect that to be the case with someone who has been covering that region on the ground for several years; but more significantly, I was taken with her steadfast journalistic integrity.   That, as in the title of this piece, seems like less of a contradiction to me than it did before seeing this brave and extraordinary young woman address this crowd.

Ms. Logan fits comfortably within that rarefied group that I classify as ‘Anti-Blasted Fools’.   I get the impression that some of the reporters on hand, were not entirely prepared for or contented with the subject matter or her presentation of it.

There is a bracing moral clarity and an intense uncompromising determination to put forth the truth regardless of consequences. Her bosses can’t possibly be enthusiastic about a well known 60 minutes correspondent openly calling out Obama and his administration for lying about the facts for the entire run of his presidency.

Some of the many highlights of this speech involve:

her charge that “I knew we were being lied to, I knew we were being misled”
General Allen, alluding to the mismanagement of the Afghan campaign, in which he states “We’re willing to sacrifice a lot for this campaign, but we’re not willing to be murdered for it”.

Ms. Logan’s conclusion that the Taliban and AlQueda have infiltrated the Afghan military and Police, and that “Pakistan is the root of the problem”.

The Obama Administration, as in so many other areas, is engaged in “a major lie being propagated about the real situation”.

The sum total of her remarks at length, is a damning indictment of the dishonesty and political manipulation by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, with the top Pentagon brass playing a backup role.
