What is it that Newt Gingrich did in Washington that scares the establishment Republicans? They are scared. We in Tea Party became hyperaware of the RINO syndrome in 2009. (Before that time actually) Despite numerous Washington fixtures who might espouse republican strategy in some TV interview, they have shown us now that their main strategy was more to keep status quo. It's life style there. It's their DNA now. Never mind the lib democrats. The repubs let us down.
Here comes Newt Gingrich 1979 clawing his way through the mire to re-invigorate Republican stature. How many of the DNA RINO groups did he offend? Probably every single one whom Newt failed to ASK or beg approval. He didn't say "May I." I'll bet he muscled through most all of them at one time. I wonder if folks like Santorum were surprised, flummoxed and frightened by Newt. This reputation for unstable, unpredictable, undisciplined came through and has continued. If Newt was anything like a bull in the china shop, he got this reputation because he did likely muscle around. Much of his muscle is intellect and he perhaps was not too polite.
As I write this, I am reminded of Winston Churchill who was said to be unwilling to tolerate triffling. In 1940, when Churchill made his comeback from widespread disapproval, England's leaders were indeed TRIFFLING with Hitler. Churchill blustered in there to stick his finger in Hitlers eye. He had to teach the faint of heart what danger was afoot. Our times now are quite like that.
Newt, when democrats came at him with trumped up ethics charges, was not guilty finally. Why did he pay a fine? Anyone know? Things had been moving too fast for the faint of heart among republican house members. They weasled out on him. That's how I saw it at the time. Others likely see it and remember differently.
Newt has,in the years since, dabbled in so many issues, but continued to serve working with Heritage Foundation trying to study ways to dig out of the morass. He got his fingers dirty in some of that research and unforgivably so to some people. Books he wrote over the years were patriotic novels as well as serious study. As an intellect, Newt would be untouchable by the usual democrat arrogance about smarts. That silly stuff means less to me than the fact that this man spent his time busily peering into the inner workings and DNA of the mess being made around him.
Now in 2012, the same old republican establishment (whatever that is) will see this man as bull in the china shop. They know he has been niggling at the heels of poor government and bad government and corrupt government. Remember how many times he came up with ideas to modernize government, do it with efficient business methods? All of that was scarry for them.
I'll bet they can just see it now if Newt gets in. "How can I protect my friends?""My comfortable nest egg may dry up." Look what the reaction was when Newt Spoke recently of firing judges of Ninth circuit. The man is serious and the RINOS are not serious. They will likely reveal themselves even more for us as they take out after Newt.
My article here is certainly made up of what I remember and my perspectives. Surely others have seen Newt's history differently. I hope he retains some of the bull in the china shop; he does seem more succinct and careful now in spoken words, at least very pithy rather than professorially intellectual.

Comment by Edie Boudreau on January 28, 2012 at 1:43am For those politicians who may need information about just how destructive your compatriots (& maybe you) have been to our country, this message is for you.
I became a Constitutional Conservative activist after realizing that many politicians who I thought were Republicans had become almost as progressive as Dems. I worked for a Conservative during the 2010 election, and will be working again for a Conservative during the coming 2012 election. In the meantime, as a working writer in all the mediums for >30 yrs, I am reaching out to the people who are demanding that our country be saved from the corruption in our current administration. They need to STAND UP themselves & take action instead of just talking and whining. They need to demonstrate their determination to save us.
We ALL need to communicate with our representatives & write letters to the media about Bills or actions that we disagree with. We need to gather with like-minded voters & organize Marches & Demonstrations just as Soros and the unions did with the Occupiers. We need to demand that our Congressmen develop some backbone and take action against the unconstitutional Bills that Obama and his cohorts are passing and hold them to account by going to the Courts to start RECALLS & IMPEACHMENTS. We can't afford to wait until November 2012!!
The polls show in what low esteem the voters hold Congress and Obama in, so they need to remember that they work for WE THE PEOPLE. Corruption, fraudulent elections, excess spending and lending to terrorist countries, passing of Bills or assignments of radicals while illegally bypassing Congress, not protecting our country as they vowed to do when taking office...all those actions will cause them to be FIRED!
The politicians have no idea how angry the average working voters are about our taxes being used to take care of illegals, the Federal govt. not protecting our borders, Obama stopping our use of our own energy resources, and the govt. letting people go on welfare instead of making it "minimum-wage Workfare." In the meantime, they must stop calling "Social Security" and "Medicare" entitlements, when the workers & their employers paid that money into a “lockbox” that was supposed to protect it from the politicians stealing it & putting it into the General Fund so they could spend it on Pork & put it in their own pockets.
The people know that the Government politicians were the guilty majority, along with banks, mortgage companies, and real estate officials, in causing our Housing Bubble and then its downfall by giving houses to people who couldn't pay for them. They've seen Obama throw most of the Stimulus and Tarp money away by using it for unapproved causes and his agenda. They've caused businesses to take their companies to other countries because of their regulating & taxing them to death--thus taking away all the jobs and causing the massive unemployment. They've let the unions run rampant, especially in the public (govt.) arena...thus causing States to go broke and pensions to go unpaid.
You should all be aware that there are plenty of websites that are keeping track of every vote and action by politicians during the past 10 years. They will PAY THE PRICE, even if we have to FIRE 90 percent of our politicians. I intend to copy this document and request that every Conservative with a SPINE make at least 50 copies to give away at Conservative meetings, and go to at leave five web sites and install it to tell the voters that it is time to get busy. We can't wait for "someone?" to organize our protests any longer.

At this point, I too am supporting an evolved Newt. But if those stupid and careless ads continue I have no compunctions whatsoever about supporting Santorum even if has no chance in Hades of prevailing.Romney's money and ground game will likely roll over both Newt and Santorum.
Yeah, I agree with your thoughts on the primary and Idaho taking back seat. Not sure how we fix that though. Worth examining further.
Comment by Gary L Hastriter on January 27, 2012 at 6:31pm No Jim, at this point I'm for Newt.
Also a note to that. By the time we get to vote in Idaho, who knows who'll be on the ballot. Our primary is in May.
I think all the primarys should be held at the same time. By the time it gets to us, its mainly determined. We don't have a lot of say with our small hand full of delegates.
Comment by Jim Delaney on January 27, 2012 at 6:24pm Gary,
Does this mean you'll be supporting Santorum?
Comment by Gary L Hastriter on January 27, 2012 at 5:28pm If you all will notice, all the RINO's that were in Congress when Newt was Speaker of the House are endorsing Romney. They are the ones he rode rough shod over and they remember it. What he did, did work and he will do it again.
As I've said previously, we all need to vote conservatives into the Senate and Congress. Especially the Senate. We need a majority.
Comment by Jim Delaney on January 27, 2012 at 5:02pm Good post, Marcia.
That said, I was painfully disappointed with Newt at the Jacksonville debate last night. The sleaziness of his PAC ads against RINO Romney were no less offensive than Romney's grossly misleading ads. SO much for sticking to the high ground. They are both doing themselves, each other and all the rest of us a HUGE disservice. Obama is the only one to benefit.
I had hoped Newt would be more judicious, fair and balanced in his endorsement of tasteless and wholly misleading PAC ads. I've seen a few of his attack ads and they're disgusting and false. Today, even Huckabee jumped on him for having taken his comments on one of Newt's PAC ads out of context. What the hell is wrong with him?
A Newt supporter, his attractiveness is wearing perilously thin at this point.
If those two so-called "front-runners" keep on with these sleazy, dumb-ass ads, I'm moving on to Santorum. Is any one else as POed as I am over this shoddy sideshow of lies, half-truths and shameless pandering? I AM -- in spades!!!!!!!
Re: Eliott Abrams. You're right. It was B.S. For shame: establishment caught red-handed falsely trashing Gingrich to elect Mitt Romney. http://spectator.org/blog/2012/01/27/elliott-abrams-caught-misleadi...
Comment by Marcia Wood on January 27, 2012 at 4:50pm Newt visualizes where America could be, should be and knows what need to be done. Mitt Romney definitly out debated Newt last night, but no because of his policies, ethics or accomplishments. Ric Santorum and Ron Paul absolutely surprised everyone - they turned the debate that Wolf administrated into a Santorum, Paul debate.
Both of them deserve compliments, but neither one would be able to beat Obama at this time. It all comes down to which man does America think will restore the econmy, downsize the Government and be able to reach across the aisle.
Comment by JASON J LEVERETTE on January 27, 2012 at 4:24pm Newt Gingrich was exonorated of ALL CHARGES by the wimpy weasles in Congress that was led by Nancy Pelosi, who is now claiming she has some sinister garbage on Newt that will prevent him from being elected President! Newt told the frumpy, botoxed, mugwump that if has anything to say bring it on or shut up!
Newt Gingrich was NOT FINED, he had to pay for the stupid investigation because of a mistake his attorney caused by overlooking some tidbit of info in the papers and he had to pay $300,000 for the error.
Check out his website at www.newt.org and read the truth!
Moreover, the stuff from National Review by Elliott Abrams is also total BS! Please search for the truth because Newt has done more than ruffled a few feathers...these professional, political, parasites in Washington, D.C. know bloody well that When Newt arrives as President their cushy, back scratching RINO game is over!
