There is something about an election year that seems to bring out the worst in a lot of people. Having settled on a candidate, they defame the opponents and the motives of those that support them. This is greatly aided by the charges that fly backward and forward among the primary candidates themselves. It’s not pretty, but it is the way a democracy works.
A conspiracy theory I keep hearing and reading is that Obama will create “an emergency” and declare martial law, putting himself in complete charge. I keep telling people that the nation is filled with millions of people who have taken an oath to protect and preserve the Constitution and they run the gamut from everyone who ever served in the military to law enforcement personnel, to members of the Secret Service. The likelihood that all would stand aside and let Obama have his way is, to my mind, very small.
All this is testimony to the growing fears about Barack Hussein Obama and there is ample evidence for concern as he seems to have very little regard for the Constitution and a decidedly Leftist approach to politics and governance.
By contrast, I have seen so much factual information; hard cold data, to suggest Obama not only won’t get elected, but will likely suffer a historic defeat. To keep the insanity at bay, it would be a good idea to get familiar with some of it.
Over at Big Government.com, Wynton Hall authored “It’s the Math, Stupid! Devastating Facts About 2012." With a great big hat tip to him, here they are:
1. Every day, the U.S. government takes in $6 billion and spends $10 billion. This means that every day the federal government spends $4 billion more dollars than it has.
2. The real unemployment rate is a jaw-dropping 11 percent.
3. Every fifth man you pass on your way to work is now out of work.
4. College graduates are now 34% less likely to find a job under Obama than they were under President George W. Bush.
5, Every seventh person you pass on the sidewalk now relies on food stamps.
6. The ravages of the Obama economy now mean that more Americans live under the federal poverty line than at any time in U.S. history since records have been kept.
7. Under President Barack Obama, every fifth child in America now lives in poverty.
No one gets reelected with that level of misery extent in the nation. The days of Franklin Delano Roosevelt are long gone. This is the age of Fox News and the Internet.
Karl Rove, whom George W. Bush called “the architect” for his political acumen, took note of Obama’s inclination to link himself to FDR and to Truman. “In many ways,” Rove wrote in December, “his situation is significantly different than that of his Democrat predecessors. For one thing, a year out from the 1948 election, Gallup measured Mr. Truman’s job approval rating at 54%, whereas Mr. Obama’s is 43%--substantially lower than any president who has won re-election.”
Let me repeat that. “Substantially lower than any president who has won re-election.”
Obama may run against a “do-nothing Congress” as Truman did, but today’s House of Representatives, controlled by Republicans, has been active enough to produce 29 bills intended to spur economic growth. Of those pieces of legislation, 21 remain stalled in the Democrat-controlled Senate
Indeed, voters may well wish that Obama had done a lot less. After comparing himself to Johnson, FDR and Lincoln in a “Sixty Minutes” interview, even a casual look at his stimulus package has falling flat with voters, 62% of whom, according to an Ipsos/Reuters November poll, believe that they did little more than create more debt. Obamacare is even less popular.
Blue-collar Americans took notice when Obama delayed the XL Keystone pipeline that would have generated 20,000 construction jobs and an estimated 118,000 spin-off jobs.
Kimberly A. Stossel who writes Potomac Watch for The Wall Street Journal, noted in November that, mostly due to the Environmental Protection Agency’s efforts, “the Obama administration has done more to kill working-class industries than any modern predecessor, adding that “Among the reasons the GOP regained control of the House in 2010 was the fact that “the white working class surged to give the GOP a record 63% of their vote.”
As Rove noted, “America is not a nation of amnesiacs.” And neither should you be. Keep the facts cited in mind.
Remain calm and come together behind whoever the GOP selects as its candidate.
No desertions.
No faint hearts.
No conspiracy theories.
No third parties.
Just the defeat of Barack Hussein Obama.

Just to correct a notice that I gave on the last post. Obama is trying to have his name put back on the ballot, by claiming that the states have no right to make that decision, because the power lies in the hands of the electors and Congress.
To Morry & Doug ... Thank you both for championing language and grammar. American English is one of the things that has taken a beating in our slide toward socialism and too few have objected to the abuse. It is ironic that in an era of colossal expansion of the means of communication, the structure of language is eroding alarmingly.
I'm aghast, for example, at the number of people who don't know the difference between "are" and "our", as in "We demand are rights!" When you see the form twice in one message you know it's not a typo, it's intentional. This usage is usually from young people who consider themselves educated. Oy!

Comment by Doug Nicholson on January 13, 2012 at 1:20am @ Morry Markovitz...I, too, enjoy Alan's posts, and for the same reason. I know it's impolite to correct the grammar or spelling of someone posting on this or any other site, so I don't do it, but I cringe when I see some of the errors made here by those who are writing the blogs as well as those who are commenting. I know there are those who oppose us who are on this site reading everything and I want them to think, "Wow! These folks are sharp!" But many times I'm embarrassed when the commenter or poster doesn't know that "looser" means "not as tight" and "loser" is "one who didn't win". The difference between "there, their and they're" is something any grade school child should know.
Now, my apologies to anyone here whom I may have offended. It was not meant to be personal. And, believe me, I know I make my share of mistakes and typos. I just had to get it off my chest.
Comment by John Ray on January 12, 2012 at 9:57pm So is TPN finally ready to quit shilling for Gingrich? Guy makes an ad saying Mitt Romney is bad because he speaks French? That's it. No more. Nada mas. I speak German and Italian and have as much French as Mitt Romney showed in the ad. No more Newt, he's an embarrassment. A Georgia embarrassment. If it looks like a skunk and walks like a skunk and smells like a skunk, its a skunk.
Comment by Morry Markovitz on January 12, 2012 at 8:20pm Hats off to you for a reason you'll never guess. I always enjoy your comments, and part of my enjoyment's due to your literacy. When, in the last line of your 2nd paragraph, I read "The likelihood . . . is, to my mind, very small" my heart skipped a beat. I think this is the first time in at least a decade I've seen or heard that phrase correctly used. EVERYONE seems addicted to the ridiculously wrong "IN my mind" rather than "to my mind." THANK YOU for making me realize I'm not alone.
I immediately decided I'd make this comment. Unfortunately, I found a small error a short while later which I'm pretty sure was a typo. In the first line following your 7th point, "extent" should be "extant," as I'm sure you know.
I wouldn't normally comment on this kind of extraneous topic but while I'm on it, see Karl Rove's repetition of the common mistake he never fails to make. The accuracy of your quote of Rove's comments is confirmed by that error's presence. It's when he said ". . .his situation is . . .different than . . ." instead of ". . .different from . . . "
Heres hopen nobody gets to bord with my above PS de raison's dance.
I sincerely hope you're right. The fact is most of our cirizens are totally dissassociated with politics. Most of those who do pay some attention are totally snowed by Obama or the news media. Few people I encounter can even identify the canditates. Many people are suffering from poor employment opportunities but Obama and the Dems have managed to convince those on the lower tiers and thus most likely to be unemployed that the obstructionist Republicans are the cause. There are many things that present a circumstrantial case for a conspiricy. All these czars doing who knows what. All of, and I do mean ALL, of Obama's decisions concerning the economy have been destructive. If you believe that Obama is just stupid; I think you are deluded. The only other possible explanation is that He is deliberately crashing the economy. Can you explain it any other way? Obama has done everything within his power to cut off domestic energy production. This will further make us dependent on foreign energy. All of his actions with the Fed and Treasury seem to be directed toward collapse of the dollar. Could you find a better way to collapse the economy? He has gotten control over the medical, automobile, banking, and home mortage industries. Through the federal agencies such as the EPA and the Consumer Protection agency are being use to depress and harrass other industries. Obama has corrupted the Labor Relations Board by installing his labor union stooges. He has poisoned the well in Congress so nothing positive can be pass. He has sucessfully blamed it on the Republicans. He has lied about everything. He has squandered trillinons in apperant attempt bankrupt us. Instead of cutting taxes he insists on raising taxes.
As far as public support for the insurrection I'm not convinced many Americans would not support it. It is my opinion that with the help of the labor unions, occupy wall strreet, anarchist, and various leftist nuts will cause a crisis a few weeks before the '12 elections. He will declare martial law and take direct control of the government. In response to violence instigated by the left and pressure from the left to control it he will be forced to suspend elections. Show me where I'm wrong. The situation seems to me to support a conspiracy.
I know I will pick up my gun if this happened.
Comment by Walter Bowen on January 12, 2012 at 7:21pm Finally "SANITY!"
All Conspiracy Theories aside, Alan, those whom we have trusted and empowered, the so-called conservatives in Congress have thrown us all under the Facist Bus by consistantly germinating and growing freedom robbing bills through Congress. [Patriot Act, FDDA, SOPA and hundreds more] With eye patches and earplugs worn, they ignore, and hold us in contempt if we use Petitions, Emails, Letters and such to plead for mercy as the train plows forward into total Tyranny. Yes, these are the Romneys, the Santorums et al whom want our vote. Hell Alan, I'd rather be unemployed than live in the Soviet Union; I'm officially changing my support to Ron Paul at least after four years he will leave us with the Constitution and Bill of Rights, aside from stripping away the billions sent to Nato and the other enemies of America.
Comment by Dave Mason on January 12, 2012 at 3:12pm Citing Karl Rove is perhaps, not a credible source for your argument.
It is tantamount to citing "whatever" poll-of-the-day supports your position.
As another post essentially said, folks need to think for themselves. Rove is an establishment Republican who trashed tea-party candidates in 2010 and not a true conservative.
Assume someone claims to be to the right of Hitler. It's all a matter of relative positioning. Rove, in my opinion, is marginally to the right of left wingers.
