Having recently received the latest issue of Imprimis from Hillsdale College, coupled with Judson Philips recent posting “The Greatest American Failure,” I am feeling compelled to offer you a short (?) list of reasons why we are in desperate need of a complete overhaul of our educational system.
Our children are grown now (our oldest is 30 and the twins are 26) and we pulled them out of the public school system at an early age due to a series of conflicts we had with the system. Little did I know that the degradation and decadence of education in this country has been going on for some time longer.
In the aforementioned issue of Imprimis, the author, Nathan Harden, cited William F. Buckley and his experiences at Yale University. Buckley graduated from Yale in 1950, two years before I was even born. In the article, Buckley argued that Yale was even then waging war upon faith, limited government and free enterprise. Harden points out that these days Yale, along with several other universities, host an annual “Sex Week,” during which porn is shown in the class room, porn stars are brought in to lecture, nudity in the classroom, examples of sadomasochism are illustrated, and on and on. It also points out that Yale has educated 3 out of the last 4 presidents (both Bushes and Clinton) and 2 of the last 3 Supreme Court justices (Sotomayor, Alito, and Thomas).
Anyway, read the above article (I highly recommend it) and here is a collection of examples (with links) of the degradation and decadence of the system and the inoculation of our children in today’s “education” system.
There is no real order to anything here, just a collection of articles about how messed up the educational system has gotten in this country.

These are only a few examples. Our school system is in utter chaos and disarray and is doing more to harm the future of our children than help it. While it will be a long and cumbersome battle (and given the unions I do mean battle), if we truly are concerned about the future of our children and our country, then this is one front that MUST be addressed.
