Papa John’s is the beginning
Papa John’s founder John Schnatter certainly got the supporters of the healthcare law by saying pizza prices will increase because of the law. The typical response of the Democrats, progressives was to call for another boycott. It seems they are once again not for a business owner to speak his mind, they certainly won’t be the only one passing the cost of Obamacare on to customers.
We have seen the waivers ever since the law passed, more to come most likely to friendly people of the White House. According to an article on The Heritage Foundation: At least 60 percent of firms are estimating Obamacare will raise their health care costs, according to a new study released Wednesday by Mercer, a human resources consulting firm. One-third of those expect a cost increase of 5 percent or more. The study reports:
The employers that will be hit hardest are those with large part-time populations—employers in retail and hospitality services. Nearly half of these employers (46%) expect PPACA will push up cost by at least 3% in 2014—and another third don’t yet know what the impact will be.
You can read the full article on the Heritage Foundation, clearly moving forward companies will have to make tough decisions. The companies below 50 employees will have the toughest choice because expanding above 50 puts you into mandatory coverage. Any business above 50 employees must provide health insurance or pay the penalty for not covering them.
My continued problem is mandates from the government to buy a product, disagree with Roberts because how do you tax a non-purchase? The broad power given to HHS to regulate what healthcare business must provide, we have seen this already with the birth control and etc. All the new taxes in the bill and there is 21, these will affect everyone unless you are getting government healthcare of course. The talking points of Obamacare sound great but the rest is more big government, we know better than you so take your medicine.
Papa Johns won’t be the last company to talk about prices being influenced by Obamacare, more will surely follow. We need a more common sense approach to rising health care and insurance premiums, better use of the free market. Have you noticed that the more government gets involved in health care the more expensive it has become.

All funding was cut over three years ago. No budget - no funding.
31 USC. I believe there is a clause that says if you overspend your budget it is a crime.
Well, all of Government are Criminals, now aren't they.

Yes, and that is true for all things that are "provided" either directly or indirectly by government. The cost of food stamps is inflationary and drives up the cost of groceries. Housing subsidies are inflationary and drive up the cost of housing. And the cost of both exert inflationary pressures that drive up the prices of both along with everything else that is produced, distributed and sold in the nation's economy. COST CANNOT BE "SUNK" AND GOTTEN RID OF WITHIN THE STRUCTURE OF GOVERNMENTS. If cost goes in, it must come back out. When governments pay for anything, the cost that is incurred must then be flowed through the government as an institution, then out and either directly or indirectly into the operating costs of the profit seeking institutions that make up the nation's private sector economy. Then the cost of previous government purchases will arrive back to the goods and services markets embedded in the prices of future items of material worth that are being sold and purchased. We call it price inflation. When governments grow larger and more numerous and spend more money then there must price increases (more inflation) to "sink" the additional costs and remove them from the nation's financial system.
When money goes to a government regardless of by what method then comes back regardless of for what purpose, the amount that comes back will be less than the amount that goes.
When cost goes to a government regardless of for what purpose and then comes back regardless of by what method, the amount that comes back will be greater than the amount that goes.
Then the escalating prices are measured and calculated into the Consumer Price Index by the Department of Labor. That, in turn, results in an increase in pay for all people who receive Cost Of Living adjustments to their wages and salaries--just about all public sector workers. Then increases to the cost of government operations become locked-in structurally. Then government officials begin their eternal infernal "mullygrubbing" contests about needing additional revenue and/or additional revenue sources. And the game goes on and here we go loop-ta-loop.
Them ain't chickens comin' home t' roost. Them's buzzards.
When grandma comes off the dliff, Grampa (that's me) will already be there to greet her..In socialism, the old die young.

Comment by Jo Gonzalez on August 10, 2012 at 11:09pm I say "Let's all go eat Pizza". Thank you Mr. Schnatter, for pointing out something to some, that they might not have figured out on their own. When people, become afraid to speak for fear of intimidation, we are in trouble. Well, finally People are beginning to speak up. Bravo. Let's go and support these people, and their businesses. like we did Chick-fil-a, and let them know, we appreciate the fact, that they are courageous enough to speak out. I am not a Papa John's patron, but I will be by tomorrow.
