Dear Ms. Griffin:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I welcome the opportunity to respond to the issues that are important to the people of North Alabama.

In your message, you express concern over America's energy policy. This is an issue that must be addressed on both a national and global stage. When having this debate, I believe it is important to consider every possible outlet.

Congress must consider the benefits and challenges of alternative fuels, increased domestic drilling, new investments into nuclear power, renewable energy and investing in the technology of tomorrow. We must find a path that lowers the cost of energy and lessens America's dependence on foreign oil. This is essential to our economic security and our national security.

The Alabama Congressional Delegation recently sent a letter to Rep. Waxman, Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, stating Alabama's position (griffith.house.gov/uploads/AL%20delegation%20Energy%20Tax.pdf) on the climate change bill that is currently being developed.

I appreciate your views on this issue. Sharing your opinions on legislation will help me better serve the people of North Alabama.

Sincerely,

Parker Griffith
Member of Congress

I went to his website and he posted a statement explaining why he didn't vote for Cap & Tax. A lot of political talk, but he made some valid points.

No kidding riding the fence. I am hopeful he did it realizing that it would not pass senate anyway. I wonder what kind of pressure Pelosi is putting on others...I guess she didn't have anything that would interest congressmen from Alabama :)
