Jack E. Kemp
There are so many things I'm holding my tongue from saying. Here is the gist of it. Apparently a university started by Baptists in New England has now decided to throw out all their original values. To not expel someone who has had such an operation is part of religious tolerance. To pay for such an operation in a still young person is a form of strident, extreme advocacy. We are watching a culture trying its best to commit suicide.
Some readers may recall my remarks about the national Girl Scouts wanting to allow a gender confused genetic boy into a troop of girls - with overnight camping included - and the local women leaders, religious women, who disbanded the troop immediately before any actual problems arose. Actually one can be an atheist local Girl Scout leader and understand that you are legally required to protect the safety of the girls given to your charge, you are risking lawsuits if not possible jail time if any of the Girl Scouts under your supervision gets either physically or emotionally harmed by the presence of a biological boy among them, whatever he may think he is.
If Brown University believes their school now is a social laboratory that can accommodate - let us say two transexuals a year - then they may well believe that they can impose these people as roommates on any other non-surgically altered student. An attempt to refuse such a roommate might bring charges of anti-lesbian, gay and transgendered discrimination which the complaining student - and their parents - may have to fight in a student court, if not a state court. Students who claim to be liberals will have the limits of their liberalness tested by such living situations.
From the Daily Caller:
http://dailycaller.com/2013/02/07/brown-universitys-student-health-...
Students at Brown University who decide they want to change genders will now be covered under the school’s generous student health insurance plan.
Beginning in August, Brown’s student health insurance plan will pay for more than a dozen different sexual reassignment surgery procedures, including scrotoplasty, labiaplasty, clitoroplasty and placement of testicular prostheses, reports The Brown Daily Herald. The plan as currently configured will cover only students, not staff.
My associate Tim Birdnow adds some words, discussing his brother Professor Brian Birdnow, Townhall contributor, and the condition of university life today:
Universities are the cornerstone of liberal madness, and even those that were dedicated to Christian principles are avid promoters of the modern religion of Man these days. Disgusting.
A few years ago there was an effort by traditional Catholics to create an alternative. Ave Maria University was intended to be a traditional, old-style Catholic university, promoting Catholic values. A series of lawsuits and the need to fill the staff with "qualifired" people (meaning people with experience, and all you will find in academia in that regard are liberals) has turned Ave Maria into just another liberal factory. My brother tried (and failed) to get on with them. He told me that the Dean was talking about being "more open to the modern world".
How long before Ave Maria starts promoting sex changes?

Comment by Cynthia Catsman on February 10, 2013 at 10:56am Folks - You may not like it, but forewarned is forearmed. There is a serious transhuman movement out there that ecompasses science, politcs and economics. Look up one of the futurists, FM 2030 (he's a person, not a radio station), and the predictions he made in the 1970s that are now a reality. If this movement progresses, in spite of the assertions that it will improve mankind, we will likely have a post-human society similar to Brave New World" on steroids. There is work on merging human and AI, and longevity research with the goal of eventually elinimating death. Glad I'm chronologically challenged - moving too fast for me to handle...
Comment by Elizabeth Dian Paaske on February 10, 2013 at 10:28am The public school system has contributed to the confusion of these young people. Young people have many issues of idenity. They need positive guidance instead of everything goes and is OK.. The left has never accomplished anything for the people they claim to be concerned about. The Academics are the worse, they have accomplished little and think they are better, more capable than the rest of society. Take them out of their Ivory towers and they could not last a half day in the real world where common sense and elbow grease arethe survival methods of the people that make this world work for everyone.
By the way, more info than needed, interesting but really pitiful. To go through such extremes for a portion of life seems ridiculous. Priest and Nuns have given up thier sexual identity and have survived. I am not versed in these issues, THANK GOD, but I would think there would be another avenue to explore for help.
Comment by Timothy Birdnow on February 10, 2013 at 8:57am To Herb,
Apparently they construct a Johnson for the newly minted dude from skin from the arm.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3312187/
They apparently can urinate through this appendage, and can have sexual intercourse, although I would imagine their happy ending does not produce anything more than a smile. Their clitoris is attached to the new penis to provide the sensation.
It would seem that most "transsexual" men do not get the genital surgery, simply going through life as men with vaginas. We call such people Democrats...
Comment by Cynthia Catsman on February 10, 2013 at 7:09am Wonder if the Dean has read up on transhumanism? How would Catholics reconcile that as part of the modern world?
Comment by Elizabeth Dian Paaske on February 9, 2013 at 11:22pm One size fits all is why no government program works. The reason the government wants all the regulation is
they really believe they are so far above us that they need to care for us. The Elites think we are morons because we have not moved beyond the Bible and traditions of our ancestors. They are so into themselves and being PC, their main concern is being in lock step with the other Elites. They live in a superficial, phony world, they are not real. They have set themselves up as judge and jury of life and how it should be. They are pitiful and we are allowing them by our lack of activism to destroy everything we believe in.
Comment by Pat Gerhow on February 9, 2013 at 7:42pm Oh, gag! The Southern Baptist Convention, at least, does not hate the misled or othewise sexually-challenged child or adult because of their sexual preferences. They will never be called before the church for public humiliation as some churches. But they will receive our prayers for God's guidance and strength to abstain because we DO hate the sin. It is in the Holy Bible that such perversion is an abomination in the eyes of God. It's there, and the Southern Baptists don't have any plans to re-write it. I have had very good friends and co-workers whom I liked a great deal, worked well with, and their issues between God and their own hearts. And, in Sunday School lessons in the past couple of years, one sin, such as judgement or gossiping or shoplifting, is just equally as sinful as cheating on your spouse or following your heart into abomination. However, I WOULD object to my precious tuition dollars being used for such surgery as gender change. As a Christian, I also object to my tax dollars being used for abortions, which is murder of a growing soul created in God's image, which God, in the Bible, says he knew and had a purpose for, before the child was conceived. However, on a strictly legal note, for the sake of argument, the government has decided to either fine or deny medical treatment to the obese and smokers, should they have the audacity to become ill. First of all, my obesity, at least, is a genetic condition: polycystic ovarian disease/syndrome, which is a common condition in the obese, which causes me to gain weight on only 1000 calories whereas the average "national" recommended diet for weight loss is based on a 2000 calorie diet. Government states that weight loss and smoking are simple matter of wrong choices. Dontcha hate it when someone says that "they" are normal" and you are not? I am not a couch potato, but ride horses, clean out my own barn, and cut the grass in my own large lawn, yet STILL gain weight. (Did you happen to check out Michelle O's widening waistline at the innauguration? LOL!) At any rate, ingesting illegal drugs and/or too alcohol, or AIDS via sex, or pregnancy due to sex, are all health issues all created due to POOR CHOICES! If they penalize me for my own poor choices, then they will see me in court if those other physical conditions are not ALSO equally penalized! (However, there is also the Supreme Court ruling that IT'S MY BODY TO DO WHAT I WANT WITH IT! That ruling should not apply to ONLY pregnancy, if it is allowed to stand at all!) (And, p.s.: My guess is that pregnancy coverage, especially infertility coverage, for which women also had to fight, not so many years ago, will be removed from insurance coverage, because this administration wants to REDUCE global population, not increase it.) If I can't get things my way, I at least expect CONSISTENCEY in their arbitrary abuse of their so-called laws! (Sorry, I suppose I tried to fight TWO wars in a single post. But I think we need to take a very close look at the BIG PICTURE of what is actually gone on in these past 4+ years, instead of nit-picking at each small issue.) Where do I go to take these things to law, class action suit or otherwise?
Comment by Jack Kemp on February 9, 2013 at 4:45pm Ronald, I can see you'll never make it at a Manhattan cocktail party with such "old fashioned" ideas. But seriously, what a vote would bring at a cocktail party is different what a vote would bring among the paying parents of Brown U. students who are concerned with the social environment of their children. But guess what? The parents of the students didn't get a vote precisely because of fear of what the final tally would be.
Do you remember that woman named Lori Berenson from NY City who went to Peru and got involved with terrorists who were planning to blow up the legislature and she wound up in prison for many years? Well, I happened to have worked and studied some at the college where her "leftist father" worked. Mr. Berenson spouted all types of leftist talk but chose to teach at the City University of New York's business college named after financier Bernard Baruch. There he was teaching marketing, accounting and finance majors instead of teaching poor black and hispanic students in the South Bronx. Leftist talk is mostly for cocktail parties and places like faculty lounges, you see.
Comment by Ronald Sorrells on February 9, 2013 at 4:30pm Institutions of Higher Learning have no "Primary Healthcare Mission". Traditionally, student health services have been first aid stations until a student could get medical assistance "Off Campus" and shopuld never be funded as a "Prtimary Healthcare Service".
