Richard Nixon once told David Frost that when the president does something that means it’s not illegal. Today, nearly an entire government has adopted Nixon’s thinking: it can’t be illegal when government does it. The establishment of both parties disregards and even holds in contempt the notion that the Constitution limits and binds them.

Just as the antidote is derived from the venom or the vaccine from the germ, the cure for what ails our country is found through the Obama presidency; he has hastened the rise of the Constitutional conservative movement.

The political establishment is unmoored despite its oath to support the Constitution. Progressive Democrats and Statist Republicans simply ignore their oath and the Constitution. They believe that if they write a law, it has the presumption of constitutionality because it went through a committee hearing-floor reading process. America was founded with a presumption of liberty that placed a burden upon the government office holders to demonstrate constitutionality before passing a law.

In Nov 2010 Rasmussen reported 44% of Americans believe government is operating outside of the Constitution, 17% aren’t sure. The balance of folks might not be reachable; ignore them. Our goal must be to inspire, inform and support that 61% causing it to elect representatives who will turn the country around.

The Founders foresaw usurpation of the Constitution and gave us a remedy for it. Madison wrote in Federalist 44: “…in the last resort a remedy must be obtained from the people who can, by the election of more faithful representatives, annul the acts of the usurpers.” The Tea Party movement is that last resort remedy in action today. To reclaim the Constitution as the law that binds the government, we must begin by changing attitudes about government on an even wider basis.

Start by studying the Constitution. If you haven't already taken the free 6 part course on the Constitution and its relation to the Declaration of Independence, sigh up for it at Hillsdale.edu There is still time to take the course, but it won't be available long. Sign up today. Each one of us must learn how to apply the Constitution and reassert it as the Supreme Law that the government must adhere too.

We must expect candidates who can describe why a constitutionally controlled government brings the greatest level of prosperity for all. We can begin by demanding that those seeking elected office address how they will curb outlaw government, as opposed to who will bring the most pork to the voters.

Replacing progressive Democrats with statist Republicans will not bring us our constitutional remedy. Splitting the Republican Party by forming a constitutional conservative third party will only help the left cement progressivism. Our statist opponents are the minority, but they are the professionals. We must train in electoral politics so that we beat them at the ballot box.

In 1976 Ronald Reagan declared “We need new leaders unfettered by old ties and old relationships.” The Tea Party supported candidates will fulfill this role as long as we continue to demand that elected officials adhere to their oath to support and defend the Constitution.

If our nation is to survive, we must reclaim the Constitution as the law that governs government.  “In questions of power then, let no more be heard of confidence in man but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” Thomas Jefferson

Either Obama will be the last president of the progressive era in America, or he will be the last president of the American era in the world.

Barack Obama's true desire is to be the last elected President of the United States of America.  It has been his most cherished wish since he was old enough to understand the anti-American propaganda espoused by his mother.  Almost everything he has done since becoming the President has had one primary objective, to destroy the Constitution and the nation.

He sincerely believes that he is America's only hope.  He has created perceived crisis at every turn.  He has introduced legislation which he knows will fail, so that he can blame others.  He has taken the side of unions in every conflict with state governments and private enterprise.  He has shown his support to those who wish to destroy this nation (i.e. the hobo occupiers).  He has and continues to attempt to gut our military.  He has also replaced many competent military generals with his cronies.

This most dangerous man to America, truly believes that he can dismiss congress, the supreme court, and override the constitution to enhance his chances of becoming the Hugo Chavez of the United States.  He believes that he will garner enough support from the media, the unions, the military, and the destroyers of liberty (the occupiers) to accomplish this feat.

I hope Liberty or death still rings true with most.

Don't forget they ruined our youth with the Dept. of education and the teachers union,A.C.L.U. etc.

Damn it. McCarthy was right. Poetic justice for him I guess.

The other source Euclid asked about is the "Federalist Papers in Plain English." I like that one too although it is the long version of the Fed Papers with a more fresh sentence structure. I recommend it or the original as a way to regain some of the kind of discipline the founders demanded of themselves.

Euclid: No. But the source you asked about is of the same sort. A paraphrase that eases the struggle reading materials from a different time. The one I mentioned is published by Glenn Beck as written by a young man attempting to help the rest of us. I use it as a study guide like you and I might have used as a companion source. Either of these two sources will help.

The country has reached a "tipping point".  There are more folks getting free candy than folks paying for it.  If you you are old and need medicare, or if you want an education, or are on social security, or if you didn't bother getting an education and don't make very much money; WHY WOULD THEY VOTE FOR GIVING BACK THE CANDY.  People vote for their best interest not for principles.

Euclid,

Go to www.Hillsdale.edu and you'll see a box on the right that is the "introduction to the Constitution." if you click on that link it will take you here:   http://constitution.hillsdale.edu/ and you can sign up. This is only the introduction. Another course, also free, will be offered this winter and it will be even more substantive if for no other reason than that course will be longer. You should take both, and encourage all your friends to as well.

Thanks for the kind comments,

Howard

I agree with Mr. Russell that education is paramount. However, may I add that possibly nothing will change if Americans continue to elect people of questionable character and continue to tolerate the current degree of government corruption.

Reading this article on National Review Online:

What is Constitutional Conservatism?

Interested to hear what other people think of it.

Try four branches!  The CIA has become ownership of this country with their own Air Force!  They are the ones dictating to the WH!!!! You have to expose them.
