Today we observe the 70th year observance of D-Day. So many young men looked death in the eye and continued on for the sake of freedom in this world. So many died as they made their way to save freedom. The will within these men was strong and resolute. It was a time of good and evil where evil must be taken down or live in a hell on earth. So many families got the news that their Son, Husband, Boyfriend, Brother or Friend gave their life that fateful day for them....for Freedom. Some of those brave young men who lived past the bullets and the bombs are still with us today. Today if you know one of these HEROES go to them and tell them, "Thank you" for your freedom and say a prayer for those who never came back. 70 years ago this day so many HEROES were born and while some of them died they gave the world an understanding of what the human spirit, determination and heart can do in the face of evil. May God Bless Them All. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEJo7x9y3D4

My generation DID have backbone and I can't for one minute imagine anything like this happening then.  I was born right after the war, and people then were patriotic and proud to be Americans.  You'd never see anyone burning our flag then, that's for sure, or stepping on it, either.  It would never even have touched the ground!  A man like our current "prez" would have been impeached and convicted long ago!  In fact, he would never have been elected in the first place, not just because of his race, but also because so much of his past has remained hidden.  Oh how I wish the "good old days" were back again, when the men and women of this country weren't so wrapped up in their own lives, that they would see the corruption of their government, see the deception of the media, and do something about it.  There was a work ethic then...no "gimme" society.  Thank God for the Internet and people who aren't afraid to voice their opinions and pass on the truth!!
