In his legendary and the definitive work on the conduct of warfare, The Art of War, Sun Tzu wrote:
Our Second Amendment is under an intensive attack on several fronts and the conservative community stands in front of that attack like a deer in the headlights on a dark night.
Case on point: Read the Email below that I received this morning.
I am on the mailing lists of several "Democratic" organizations because the Democrats gleefully publish their attack plans to their followers in order to fire up the masses to support their agenda.
In the mean time, the Republican / Conservative community attacks its various members for being "not conservative enough" or "too radically conservative" or a dozen other charges to keep its members entertained and bickering among themselves as those in "leadership" positions scramble to be on the top of the heap of drowning rats as the ship sinks below the horizon.
I recently attended a meeting of the local Republican Party "leadership" in which more than three hours was dedicated to the passionate arguments over the minutia of Robert's Rules of Order. When I returned home that evening, I had received no less than a half dozen Emails from Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and a couple from the DCCC during that same period of time.
This coming Saturday, the 23rd of February (223...cute), there will be a gathering here in Las Vegas to show our support for the 2nd Amendment...
Drunks locked in a bar with a found credit card decrying the evils of drink.
I applaud the efforts of local patriots who are organizing this effort and the courage of a local business willing to host the event.
But where in the name of God is the national counter offensive?
Will there even be a token cub reporter from our esteemed Las Vegas Review Journal?
Will we even get a five second honorable mention in the national "news"?
I think not.
The weapon of choice in this "information age" is propaganda which is enabled by the mass media and social networking.
The Democrats have mastered this weapons system and are honing their skills every hour of every day.
And the Republicans give us Karl Rove.
I am a registered Republican and I typically vote Republican whenever it is a sane and rational thing to do.
I have remained registered as a Republican for the last half century because until about 2010 I still believed that I could contribute to steering the debate and discussion in a meaningful and patriotic direction.
I no longer believe that.
I believe that We The People need to quit looking up the backside of the Republican Party expecting manna from heaven while consistently getting something less desirable.
I believe that We The People must look to our local leadership - get behind true conservatives in every race and reestablish the Republic that our founders envisioned.
I believe that We The People need to reassert our authority over the self-appointed demigods in Washington; render them impotent over us and return them to the role envisioned for them at the birth of this country.
And if there is any hope for us as a nation, then we must master and effectively deploy today's nuclear arsenal in this war being waged in the mass media.
