There is a great Facebook meme floating around now days that says, “Never push a loyal person to the point where they don’t give a damn.”

Sometimes these memes can be silly and sometimes they can be profound.  This one is profound and some people should be paying attention.

Who should be paying attention?

It is the Republican Party.

In 2006 and 2008, the Republican Party careened down the political highway, like a drunk driver bound and determined to become a Darwin award winner.  Then a funny thing happened on the way to political extinction.

The Tea Party was born.

If the Republican Party had been doing what it was supposed to be doing, the Tea Party never would have been born.

In 2010, the Tea Party swept a devastated Republican Party back into power in the House of Representatives.  The Tea Party activists loyally supported the GOP into 2011 and 2012.

What did the Tea Party see for its efforts?

Spending has continued to increase.  The debt has continued to increase. The GOP has done nothing to stop Obama and his executive orders that attack fundamental American rights.  The Republicans gave the Tea Party and America Mitt Romney, the single most liberal and most incompetent Republican nominee in history.

Now as we head into the fall, the GOP is simply surrendering on Obamacare.  While there is little Mitch McConnell can do in the Senate, there is a lot John Boehner can do in the House. All he wants to do is surrender.

The Republican base overwhelmingly opposes Amnesty, yet the liberals who lead the GOP, people like John McCain, Lindsay Graham and Lamar Alexander want to give Obama everything he wants for Amnesty.

The Republican Party should have taken the hint.  In 2008, the base stayed home and the Democrats ended up with what would turn into a super majority in the Senate and a solid majority in the House.

In 2012, they gave us the same thing.  Now the GOP slouches towards 2014 and the question that has to be asked is, will this be the last year of the GOP?

The GOP has never figured out the danger of pushing loyal people to the point where they don’t give a damn anymore.

The conservative base is rapidly approaching the point where it doesn’t give a damn anymore.  When the choice is between evil and the lesser evil, many more conservatives are hitting the don’t give a damn point.

A lot of pundits in Washington say the Republican Leadership despises its base.  The base may be ready to start despising back.

One view is that the Progressive Republican Party is intentionally losing these elections to indirectly " elect" their progressive mates to take power because these power hungry elected officials hate the conservative base, and see our Constitution and Bill of Rights as obstacles to Progressivism. We need to identify and ridicule those who have taken advantage of conservatives through Deceptive Election Marketing. We need to publicly shun them, daily, and use their own Rules for Radicals against them. I have also changed my party affiliation to Independent.

I recently changed my political affiliation to "Independent" for the first time in my adult life because I am disgusted with my "Old" party. You know it is bad when I actually consider thanking Charlie Rangle, (Dem) for standing up to "O" on us getting involved in Syria !

He (Rangle) along with some other Democrats are at least taking a stand about this and other issues when even when the likes of Senator McCain, Lamar and Alexander won't and are pushing us towards WWIII !

I have called many elected reps in Washington and prayed "O" is stopped from doing this and I hope my prayers are answered. My advice, flood Washington with phone calls and e-mails on this folks and most importantly pray for our country to be protected from these idiots !

Too bad that "None of the above" is not on all ballots.  If "None of the above" won, redo the election within 30 days and none of the previous candidates can run.  And before someone says that it would be too expensive-do you really think that having a joker in office is not expensive (monetary & loss of freedom)?

When are we going to get a clue that you can't heal a broken Republican party, we will have to start a new one sooner or later.  I would prefer sooner-but that's just me!

Some in the GOP [like Karl Rove] think only in terms of winning elections [which loses more elections than it will ever win], instead of governing by Principles. However, Please Folks, look upon our GOP like a beloved pet dog [or pet elephant if you will] and never forget that we love it and even when we must discipline it, do so out of Love.

Many, sadly not all in the GOP, even some RINO's, grew up in a time when most were Spiritually & politically "asleep." Most are educable, or like even an old dog, may learn new tricks when worked with over time, Lovingly.

The rest, the ideologically devious and or evil [i.e. "Progressives"], simply need identified, exposed, and shunned, but still out of Love. Like God, let us Love sinners but Hate sin.

I offer another meme, Work harder tomorrow, rest once Eternity arrives.

Never, but never make an enemy of a friend. It makes no sense and it is usually regretted.

Sad,but true.

4 million stayed home and the Rs lost the Presidency - who do you blame?

Comment by Thomas Nunn on September 2, 2013 at 6:56pm

Ever think Republicans staying home is the intent of the Republican party.

They are already assisting the Democrats, what better way to assure the democrats win than to dishearten the Republican base to the point they throw up their hands and give up???

The powers that be control both parties, so the ultimate objective is the same for both parties, regardless of which party is the majority.

The only way America can win is to elect working class people who have common sense and kick everything in Washington out, then investigate each for "Criminal conduct" while in office, especially the undocumented president.

Sharon then move that State will die . .

Comment by SHARRON AMSTER on September 2, 2013 at 6:01pm

When we have state government that will not do what the people want. What are we to do. They kiss O --- and smile at us at home. How can we get them to do what we want. They don't give a dam about our country. Just their place in it.
