2012 Will Be the Tea Party Election Year

By Alan Caruba

Bluntly said, the full weight of Tea Party members, their family members and co-workers who go to the polls in November will end Obama’s reign of terror.

I think that 2012 will be known as the year the Tea Party movement changed the future of America away from its entrenched socialist drift to a renewal of the founding principles of the nation. The movement is composed, quite simply, of patriots.

That’s why Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin titled their book, “Tea Party Patriots: The Second American Revolution.” I heartily recommend it if you keeping reading and hearing about the movement but are unfamiliar with its origins and its program of reform.

In 2009 neither of the authors had any idea they would be leading a revolution. Martin was a mother of two who was cleaning houses to make ends meet. Meckler was a northern California attorney. They would end up starting one of the largest grassroots organizations in America. You can visit its site at http://www.teapartypatriots.org/.

It began with protests against President Obama’s “stimulus”, signed into law on February 17, 2009. The next day, CNBC’s Rick Santelli angrily called for tea party to protest what we now know was little more than a political slush fund and an a historic failure that did not reduce unemployment or jump-start the economy. It simply added to the trillions in debt Obama would heap upon this and future generations.

When Rush Limbaugh took note of Santelli, he said, “This is the pulse of revolution, starting today!” The Tea Party movement began the next day.

As Meckler and Martin say in their book, “We were angry at politicians from both parties who had abandoned any pretense of responsibility and spent not only all the money we would earn in our lives, but all the money our children and grandchildren would earn in their lives.”

The Tea Party movement could have become a third party, but it didn’t. The combined wisdom of its leaders and members realized that the way to change the government at all levels was to elect people who were in agreement with its core principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets.

Initially, the Tea Party movement grew from two people to 1.2 million in two months. On April 15, 2009, they turned out for 850 Tea Party events around the nation. Today the authors estimate that 20 million Americans identify themselves as Tea Party patriots. There are more than 3,300 affiliated state and local Tea Party groups. My commentaries, for example, appear on http://www.teapartynation.com/ and I am told on other similar sites.

These people are focused! They understand that the only way to change the government is to change who gets to serve in it. They demonstrated that in November 2010 when the movement returned power in the House of Representatives to the Republican Party. “We’ve seen that the greatest threat to our economic success today comes not from abroad, but from our elected officials. And it is through changing the behavior of those elected officials—and making sure that those whose behavior doesn’t change don’t stay in their jobs—that the Tea Party movement plans to exercise its influence.”

Initially the movement was attacked by the Democrat power structure in 2009 that derided it as “Astroturf” and composed of racists and crazies, but having turned the tide for the Republican Party in 2010, its biggest detractors were the inside-the-beltway GOP establishment who felt threatened.

Writing in The Wall Street Journal on October 22, 2010, Peggy Noonan rebuked them saying, “The tea party saved the Republican Party. In a broad sense, the tea party rescued it from being the fat, unhappy, querulous creature it had become, a party that didn’t remember anymore why it existed, or what its historical purpose was.” She praised the movement for not choosing the third party route.

The movement has been non-partisan, though it has tended to support Republican candidates that it believes reflect its values. It defeated Senator Bob Bennett of Utah in the GOP senate primary on May 8, 2010 and other incumbents have felt the tea party sting for failing to rein in the spending to which they had become accustomed.

We don’t hear much from the Obama campaign about the Tea Party movement, but its power must surely concern them. On March 16, 2010 more than a million showed up in Washington to protest against the passage of Obamacare and returned in March 2012 to rally for its repeal. Not since the days of the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam War protests has Washington seen such crowds.

There is an army of people in America who have concluded that the enemy is the government and are determined, senator-by-senator, representative-by-representative, to reshape the federal government and to do so at the state and local level as well. It’s already been happening in primaries around the nation as Tea Party candidates challenge and defeat their opponents.

That’s very bad news for Barack Hussein Obama and very good news for America.

It appears it is not just the government feeling the Tea Party, conservative pressure.  This is a movement of conservative values as well.  Before we know it, sufficient pressure is going to be put on the drive-by media as well as Hollywood, and corporations for crossing the thresholds of common civility and morality.  Already well knowns like Rush and Glen have been threatened to no avail, while corporations like Sears have apologized for their indescretions regarding their website.  It's exciting to see what a truly significant number of people can accomplish against those who believe they are above reproach.  It is just beginning and it's a joy to be a part of it .

I agree the Tea Party has done well not becoming a Third Party. I believe after winning the 2012 elections ---  The Tea Party should turn into something much more than a Grassroots movement. We will be turning from saving this Nation to rebuilding the inner core of it. I strongly suggest we do not align into a third party; however, the entire loose grassroots movement should become a "Registered Patriots Lobby!" The Lobby should include an Organization structured to include Local watches and Coordinated State Level Lobbies.

God bless America

Alan: You are correct. The Lying Liberal Media will be relentless in their efforts to marginalize us, minimize us, destroy us, etc. But, we must not be influenced by their lies. They will try to discourage us from going to the polls; they will try to make us think it does not matter because there is no way we can win. This is a complete and total lie. We can win, and win BIG. Yes, there will be fraud on their side; there always is. But millions of conservatives sat out the last election. Now most of the people who did that have been shaken from their stupor and realize it is now or never to take our country back. Obama Must Go. Most of the country realizes that now. We will hit them like a tsunami in November. No more communism, no more war on white people. It ends in November!

Alan is right, William is right but the scary one is Richard is right. If we don't work together and start pusing and pulling our whole world as we know it will be gone and our children will grow up like Russians or China

all so true.....

the tea party is dead ..... not even close.

one little point - a million+ showed in dc on 9/12/09.  the healthcare protest with michele bachmann 3/16/10 drew a good crowd, but nothing close to 9/12.  i took the train to dc for both, and 9/12 was a life changing day - the joy of seeing i was not alone in my concerns has carried me through these dark years of the obama reign.

it will end in november but leave us a ton of work.  the good Lord's bounty spread upon this nation and it's fertile soil provides the tool we need to re-establish our individual and national greatness for ourselves and our  posterity.

U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.

The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State
Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. Bysigning international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nationsand individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.

The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of
gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.

This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country is headed.

We are being led like a lamb to the slaughter (Socialism/Dictatorship).

BHO seems to be doing everything "in-your-face" he can to fire up the ill-informed and get a reaction from the informed so they can be mocked. This can only lead to riots and anarchy. Why worry about passing legislation or upsetting the base to lose an election if martial law is declared?

Its far beyond political muck when one realizes the full range of moves against our Constitution and our freedoms by folks in and around the WH who as a whole have nothing but contempt for us?
