ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, MR. PRESIDENT

"Actions speak louder than words." An old tried & true proverb said to me by my Mother over an entire childhood, and passed on by many common sense thinking families. Obama's State of the Union (SOTU) pep rally was so full of hyperbole, I lost count.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, MR. PRESIDENT

Obama used his SOTU speech to…

How Many Architects?

The statists’ argument that government intervention is necessary to correct market failures is easily defeated by asking just this one simple question: how many more architects do we need?

The belief that government must intervene to correct market failures rests on the assumption that government always knows the "right" answer; how else could it determine when the market has arrived at the wrong one? The absurdity of that notion is quite evident when we think about how the central…

Once In A Roe

While the President made decent jokes about salmon and TSA pat-downs in his State-Of-Delusion speech Tuesday night, the real howler came out on Monday, when he released the following statement on abortion:

"Today marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that protects women's health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I am committed to protecting this…

To Ring True

I hope you will bear with me as I weave what may appear as unrelated thoughts into a sense of how I see Barack Obama and why I see in him a deep pathos that saddens me while it must yet alert me.

I read an interesting book about Paul Revere a few months ago.  It told of how by the time he was called upon to run that “midnight ride” to warn of the coming of the Redcoats, he had already acquired a reputation as a result of…

Is Multiculturalism a danger to America's cultural heritage?

I recently had an extended breakfast conversation with a good friend. We began with a discussion about multiculturalism in America. Many have written in support of this idea that all cultures, belief systems and religions are equally valid and should be tolerated in the United States. Many, on the other… Continue

Obama has a Very Bad Day

By Alan Caruba

“Jan 31, 3:10 PM (ET) - PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge in Florida says the Obama administration's health overhaul is unconstitutional, siding with 26 states that had sued to block it. U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson on Monday accepted without trial the states' argument that the new law violates people's rights by forcing them to buy health insurance by 2014 or face penalties.

Attorneys for the administration had argued that the states did not have… Continue

Laughing your head off in Liberal Land

The new tone of civility the liberals are pursuing apparently includes wishing violent death on Sarah Palin. Recently in Missoula, Montana, an otherwise high quality performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado by the Missoula Children's Theater had the script altered with the approval of the MCT director Curt Olds to…

My Theory of why we have so many problems with so many foreign countries!

George Washington wrote the following passages;

“Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be that good policy does not enjoin it? It will be worthy of a free, enlightened, and, at no distant period, a great nation to give mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by an exalted justice and benevolence.”

“In the execution of such a…

Taking Accountability & doing something about it

The only thing I can truely say that I thank Obama for is the awakening of the Silent Majority in this country, which thank God, are Conservatives. I have learned so much since my last blog of almost a year ago, that Statists ARE Democrats~ I am not forgiving of extremists of the Left Progressives, the Dems are all of those radical elements. I will also not waste my time or energy in arguing, recruiting or deflecting Libtard accusations, insults, name-calling~> all the predictable, boring…

Open debate on jobs and the debt coming to Congress-its about time!

The House of Representatives is not in session this week but many of the new chairmen of the major House committees are working on a plan that will quickly address the joblessness in America and the fact that Congresses of the past have spent this country into near bankruptcy. The President’s 7000 word State of the Union address last Tuesday night mentioned our country’s debt but clearly the theme seemed to be jobs.  Jobs and the debt are clearly the main concern of the GOP controlled House…

Waiting and Watching Egypt

By Alan Caruba

It took several weeks for word of the British defeat at Yorktown to reach the king and parliament. Not long after the end of the American Revolution, the government led by George Washington dispatched diplomats to London to negotiate a trade treaty.

Today we watch events unfold in far off places often in real time. What we lack, however, is context. Most Americans and, I suspect, others in Western nations are frequently at a loss when it comes to knowing… Continue

Jim Moran, a Donkey's ...tail

Recently, Rep. Jim Moran insulted America on an Arab television station overseas by claiming the 2010 election results were the result of racism. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/01/democrat_rep_slanders_america.html

Not so, Mr. Moran. And we will look at your "illustrious career," but first a quote from the movie "Secretariat."

Unravelling The Riddle.

Three friends have a nice meal together, and the bill is $25

The three friends pay $10 each, which the waiter gives to the Cashier

The Cashier hands back $5 to the Waiter

But the Waiter can't split $5 three ways, so he gives the friends one dollar each and keeps 2 dollars as a tip.

They all paid $10 and got $1 back. $10-$1 = $9

There were three of them 3 X $9 = $27

If they paid $27 and the waiter kept $2:…

Shall We Preserve Democracy?

Choose your manner of death; Guns or Knives? Not a decision most people would ever relish being required to make. While such a decision DOES offer a choice, neither are much of an option. Regardless of choice, the result is the same. Absurdly, some, both in Washington and among us, are asking us to make the same darned choice with our government.

“A popular…

Kill Switch for the internet

My country men and women, today I read on a posting that the senate is sponsoring a bill that would give the central power the authority to shut down the internet. This saddens me. My friends it is clear "We the people are not to be trusted. I guess our fate will be as Egypt's people, silenced. It was once said, our elected leaders work for us. I guess that's a thing of the past.

Government Largesse: The Opiate of the People

I recently attended a roundtable presentation given by a local doctor on expanding Medicare to cover ever more Americans. A member of the group during the discussion asked everyone around that table about their personal health care coverage. Everyone said the federal government was at least in part subsidizing…

The liberty tree

Have you ever marveled at the bounty of food available to us? Do we not take for granted an apple pie, or for that matter even the delight of eating an apple?  Consider the man who is responsible for caring for the apple trees. He is the steward of the health of the trees and also of the orchard. The knowledge that he employs in the growing of apples is not something that he knows instinctively; indeed it is the knowledge of many farmers, botanists, and other scientists who have used their…
