We all came from that direction early 1800s from NC down through GA, AL, MS. We stopped in MS when my Ggranddad lost his wife and two children to yellow fever. Two were left and he had to come back from Civil War duty to make arrangements for young son (my g-dad) and younger daughter. Two of them were sent to Holmes County, FL for a time but he came back later to a small central MS town called Bay Springs, MS.
To answer your question, I don't know L Oates but there should be little doubt we are distant kin. My wife and I are retired to the MS coast just in time for Katrina awhile back but successfully recovered. Do you have any Oates in your background?

Susan, Congress is not frozen. The press is going to play that ad nauseum but they hide that the Republican controlled Congress is standing up and for a change not being suckers. The Democrats have used this in the past to coerce Republicans into compromise. Then after the compromise they do not hold up their end of the bargin. Do not listen to them accuse Republicans of obstruction but set the record straight.
