Cindy Lyons said… Unless the teacher is apart of a private school I think the teachers are paid thru PERA which is a state funded payment system. So it seems that they are "state government" employee's. If they do not receive Pera they are probably not state employees. There seem to be many teacher unions in CO. Just how "voluntary" they are is unsure. However, if the school receives federal funding... how private are they?
Here are a couple of links I found. It appears there is a national teacher union which is heavily "recommended" to join and a variety of other "private?" unions: http://teacherunionexposed.com/state.cfm?state=CO. You also have the CEA which covers CO but I'm not sure if it's mandatory. It could be an offshoot from the NEA and no doubt heavily influenced by the NEA: https://www.coloradoea.org/home.aspx
Here is another good article to read: http://teachersunionexposed.com/dues.cfm
Are unions really private? Meaning are they free from government influence. Not sure. But I can say that the NEA and the CEA have got to be infiltrated by progressive pro-government system for sure. I'm not a fan of unions so I don't promote them nor trust them. Read the links and it may help clarify it more for you.

American Infidel said… Hi JMC, I saw you had good questions about Rick Santorum, especially about immigration. Rick Santorum is 100% strong against illegal immigration. Please check out our group, where you can find links showing his Senate record and positions on just about everything. Please also consider joining our group! We would love to have you.
