I lived in the Bay Area for more than a decade - I fully understand not having a voice.
If you might be interested in doing more than gripe-type, check out my Face Book article Calling All Patriots and the adjunct TCCOC Q&A.
BTW: Love the bike! I rode for 40 years. Agent Orange and old age kind of squashed that.

I can tell you that the operation of the excess funds hasn’t changed in 70 years, and there is a serious problem there. As you point out SS would have provided a reliable income had it been better invested. The Trust earns interest, the rate is probably more favorable to the government than the market would be. Last year the Trust bought bonds with a 2 7/8% yield. But no one is asking about the way the money is managed.
Here is the problem people are talking about increasing taxes instead of fixing the investment policy. Basically we are raising taxes so that the government can do with your money what you wouldn’t do yourself.
joetheeconomist said… Dave, I work with a site that is dedicated to starting a grassroots discussion about Social Security - It isn't happening in Washington. Our site is one-stop shopping for people worried about the system.
You put a comment on an article about Social Security regarding LBJ and privatization. Do you have any details that we can put on our site?
Thanks,
