It is incorrectly thought by many Americans that Social Security retirement is a “fixed in cement” benefit that will be waiting for them, safe, sound, and available when they reach their “golden years.”
Two Supreme Court cases, Helvering v. Davis (1937), and Fleming v. Nestor (1960), clearly point to Social Security as a TAX. No one has a “right” to receive a monthly retirement benefit payment with Social Security as it is currently structured.
