VE Day: The Worst of Times, the Best of Times

By Alan Caruba

I suppose that throughout history men and women have asked themselves if they were living through either the worst or best of times. The times between wars are most surely the best of times and the times leading up to and during a war qualify as the worst.  They are, however, rather…

The public, after decades of global warming advocacy, now called “climate change”, has begun to conclude that claims of a massive warming trend were dubious and that real climate change is the natural response of the planet to forces well beyond any impact of the human…

It's Hard Being a Black Conservative

“We’re not being governed. We’re being ruled by incompetence.”

It is refreshing to read a book that reflects one’s own views and “Guardian of the Republic” by Allen West, a former Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army for over twenty years and a former, one-term congressman from Florida, who is perhaps best known these days as a Fox News channel contributor. He is a very conservative, articulate black American.

As he points out,…

America Loves Booze and Pot

In 1919 the eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution prohibited the manufacture, sale or transportation of “intoxicating liquors” in the United States and by 1933 the era of prohibition was over when the twenty-first Amendment rescinded it. Alcohol consumption was and is a social problem, but sometimes the government is not the right vehicle for dealing with them.

The United States is a huge market for what are deemed illegal drugs and, for many…

I too was a democratic voter who was conservative like U and Kenedy.

However sir I do not believe Oswald killed JFK I invite u to read 2 books The accidental Victim (James Reston) and Who Really Killed Kennedy (Jerome Corsi) both these books  are very well written and the latter finally looks at the forensics or ballistics if U will. And having been in Law Enforcement for over 25 yrs in 2 States NH and VT and in city police work as well as State Police work this is refreshing and I believe now This shows what really happened not what the Warren Comm has lied about.

Alan,

I've read several of your posts.  Great logic.

On the civil war tho, the US was in debt and went to the southerners asking that they mortgage land to pay the debt.

The 'slavery' issue was a cover, much like the WMD in Iraqi rather than the 'Petrodollar'

I see you're a New Jersey resident.  I'm from Hackensack.  And believe me, I voted against Christie in the primary the other day.  Just letting him know he can't take us for granted.  Unfortunately, he hob knobs with Obama ... He says it's to get federal aide.  That may be a good thing but I don't think he has to endorse the guy, which is what he did.  John R.

Romney looked like the emerging star tonight.  Obama looked and acted as though he was a whipped puppy on just about every issue.  Obama had no defense and was chained to a Marxist agenda and couldn't talk about it.
