Monday News Executive Summary

President Trump, who risks becoming the poster child for COVID-19 misery, held a 25-minute briefing on Friday — much shorter than the traditional hours-long affairs. By Saturday, he declared the briefings weren’t “worth the time & effort,” which theoretically means they’ll be tailored henceforth. In our opinion, however, all of his briefings should have been as short and concise as Friday’s.

Roughly 6% of Floridans may have been infected with coronavirus, according to a University of Miami antibody analysis, which puts the extrapolated rate of infection 16 times above the headline number (which, in effect, reduces the fatality rate). If anything, Florida’s study corroborates other antibody studies in California and New York.

Jake Tapper and Chuck Todd Deliberately Lie to Viewers While Questioning Dr. Deborah Birx

by sundance{ } ~ David Mamet had a famous saying that is often cited. Essentially he said: ‘in order for left-wing partisans and ideologues to continue advancing their agenda, they must pretend not to know things.’ CTH calls this “The Mamet Principle.”… No where is that quote more clearly showcased than with two media interviews of Dr. Deborah Birx today. CNN’s Jake Tapper and NBC’s Chuck Todd both pretend not to know the guidelines and gateways for a phase-one reopening of the U.S. economy. Both pundits fabricate information purposefully and with specific intent. When the original guidelines were rolled out by the White House COVID-19 task force, the administration was clear to say how the guidelines were created for the state governors to use in coordination with “state and local health officials.” A key part of the White House guidelines was the “gateway to reopening”; which included a recommendation of a 14-day period where the virus tracking showed diminished spread. However, the guidelines were emphasized to be driven by “local and state health departments.” That’s the part where Tapper and Todd intentionally obfuscate the issue. The White House guidelines to the state governors were intentionally structured around coordination with county health officials/county health departments. The reasoning was simple, a state with 40 counties may have passed the gateway hurdle in 38 of the 40 counties, but that does NOT mean the entire state has not passed the phase-one gateway…

General Flynn will be completely exonerated this week, he was framed

By M. Dowling{ } ~ “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo reported Sunday evening that according to her sources, General Flynn will be “completely exonerated this week.”… “Breaking News: sources tell me General Flynn will be completely exonerated this week. It was a total fraud. A Set up. More tomorrow,” Maria Bartiromo said in a tweet Sunday night. On Friday, General Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell filed a motion to dismiss based on new Brady information that was finally released by the Justice Department. “This morning the govt produced to Mr. Flynn stunning Brady evidence that proves Mr. Flynn’s allegations of having been deliberately set up and framed by corrupt agents at the top of the FBI,” General Flynn’s attorney wrote in a filing. “The new evidence defeats any argument that the interview of Mr. Flynn on January 24, 2017, was material to any “investigation.” The government has deliberately suppressed this evidence from the inception of this prosecution—knowing there was no crime by Mr. Flynn,” his attorney Sidney Powell states in the additional filing. The filing indicates that FBI Director Wray and FBI General Counsel Dana Boente led the charge internally against the DOJ’s disclosure of this Brady evidence. Boente, who briefly served as acting Attorney General after Trump became president, personally signed off on one of the federal spy warrants against former Trump campaign affiliate Carter Page. Boente and Wray deny they led the charge. AG Barr has an investigation into this case and Flynn’s attorneys forwarded the documents to his team.

‘Destroying the Knesset’: Thousands protest in Tel Aviv against coalition deal

By RAOUL WOOTLIFF{ } ~ Some 2,000 people protested in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square Saturday night as part of the latest “black flag” demonstration against what they say is an erosion of Israeli democracy under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership… Speakers alleged that the new coalition deal threatens to trample Israel’s quasi-constitutional Basic Laws and destroys the authority of the Knesset. The protesters adhered to social distancing regulations aimed at stemming the coronavirus outbreak, as per Health Ministry guidelines, maintaining two meters between them. It was the second such protest in less than a week. Several hundred people also demonstrated in Kiryat Tivon, a suburb of Haifa. The “black flag” movement’s name comes from demonstrators pinning black flags to their vehicles and homes to symbolize what they believe is a danger to Israel’s democracy posed by Netanyahu’s continued rule. Protesters urged the Blue and White party and its leader, Benny Gantz, not to enter into a coalition with the prime minister in light of the three corruption cases in which he has been indicted, or at least not to allow him power over the judiciary in the new government. Organizer Shikma Schwartzman told those assembled that a unity government should not mean “a coalition agreement that tramples over Israel’s basic laws. If you decided to go for unity, you should have built a concrete wall between the man accused of criminal activity and the justice system.” Critics have accused Gantz of failing to protect the justice system and allowing Netanyahu too much control over it as part of the coalition deal signed this week. Under the agreement, Netanyahu has veto power over appointments to the state prosecution hierarchy, and all other senior public appointments, for at least the first six months of the new coalition…

Palestinians and the Virus of Normalization

by Khaled Abu Toameh{ } ~ Rami Aman, a Palestinian journalist and “peace activist,” has been under detention by Hamas since April 9 on charges of holding a video conference chat with Israelis… to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Eyad al-Bozom, a spokesperson for the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Interior, said that Aman and other Palestinians who participated in the video conference with the Israelis are suspected of “holding a normalization activity with the Israeli occupation via the internet.” According to al-Bozom, “holding any contact with the Israeli occupation is a crime punishable by law and a betrayal of our people and their sacrifices.” The arrest of Aman and his friends surprised none of those familiar with Hamas’s repressive measures against the two million Palestinians living under its rule in the Gaza Strip. Moreover, the arrest of the “peace activists” is right in line with the Palestinian and Arab anti-normalization campaign that prohibits any form of contact between Palestinians and Israelis. While Hamas says that it considers a video conference chat between young Palestinians and Israelis as a “betrayal of Palestinians and their sacrifices,” the organization has also made it clear that it still seeks Israel’s help in curbing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. In the eyes of Hamas and other Palestinians, a video conference chat about peace and co-existence is a “form of normalization with the Zionist entity.” If that is true, why does Hamas continue to seek medical assistance from Israel to combat the coronavirus pandemic? Days after Aman and his friends were arrested, Hamas  admitted that dozens of doctors from the Gaza Strip have been trained in recent weeks by Israeli doctors to deal with the coronavirus epidemic…

Ex-scumbag/liar-Clinton lawyer threatens to sue Nevada unless ballot harvesting permitted

By Gregg Re{  } ~ A prominent Democratic lawyer who represented scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is threatening to sue the state of Nevada unless it immediately suspends prosecutions for ballot harvesting before the June 9 primary… among a slew of other demands, according to a letter obtained by Fox News on Tuesday. Marc Elias, now representing the Nevada Democratic Party, also called for a substantial expansion to in-person voting access in the upcoming primary — though just days ago, he said it was a “national disgrace” that Wisconsin was moving ahead with in-person voting amid the coronavirus pandemic. In both cases, he cited health concerns. Democrats had feared that low turnout in Wisconsin would hurt their chances, while they have a more optimistic outlook in Nevada. Writing on April 10 to Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, a Republican, Elias first took aim at Nevada Revised Statutes section 293.330(4), which prohibits ballot harvesting and permits only certain individuals, like family members, to return ballots. Ballot harvesting, or the practice of allowing political operatives and others to collect voters’ ballots and turn them in en masse to polling stations, has drawn bipartisan concerns of fraud from election watchers. In his letter, Elias argued that “many Nevada voters will not be able to return their mail-in ballots themselves and do not have family members – or are separated from these family members because of social distancing – who can do so for them.” “We ask that your office and the office of the Nevada Attorney General immediately announce a suspension of prosecutions under this statute for all elections for which mail-in balloting will be the primary means of voting in the state,” Elias said. At the same time, Elias called for Nevada to stop throwing out ballots when signatures on voters’ ballots appear different from those on voters’ registrations, saying “lay election officials have never had the necessary expertise” to make an accurate determination.” In an environment where the vast majority of Nevada voters will be casting a mail-in ballot for the first time, there is the real possibility that hundreds of thousands of Nevada voters could be disenfranchised due to the arbitrary determinations of these untrained officials,” Elias wrote. In the alternative, Elias said that those found to have mismatched or missing signatures should be given an additional two weeks, instead of the normal one-week deadline, to clarify the matter. Elias also demanded that Nevada “require mail-in ballots be sent to all registered voters in Nevada, not just those in an active status.” Elias asserted that state election law doesn’t distinguish between the two categories of voters. Republicans have argued that many states fail to adequately clean up their voter rolls. Last year, California was forced to remove 1.5 million ineligible voters after a court settlement last year when California’s rolls showed a registration of 112 percent. Further, Elias urged that Nevada “require more than just one in-person vote center per county in the State’s most populous counties as well as those with geographically distant population centers.”…

Fake Bible Must be Revoked

by Petra Heldt{ } ~ With the authorized 1992 Danish Bible translation in place, the Danish Bible Society (DBS), nevertheless, issued a revised New Testament in 2012 completely omitting the word “Israel” or replacing it with “Jews” or “us”… The strange reason for this extraordinary action was, as Danes recall, to prevent Danish Lutheran Christians from confusing biblical Israel with the modern State of Israel. Danish Christians protested vehemently. Unperturbed, in 2020 DBS published a complete and revised Bible with the same anti-Israel New Testament version intact, plus a translation of the Old Testament, replacing the word “Israel” with “us”, as in Psalm 121:4 “He who watches over Israel [DBS: ‘us’] will neither slumber nor sleep”, as Jan Frost reports. Jan Frost presented the details of the fake Bible on his Facebook page. This time, the State of Israel itself joined the objection. Having defended and often paid dearly with blood the blood of its people for the sake of Holy Scripture for more than two and a half millennia, Israel does not accept revisionism of Sacred Scripture. Christians acted similarly in view of the DBS Israel-free New Testament. For two millennia, Christians have preserved and defended every single letter of the New Testament; they will not accept a revisionist re-writing of history now, either. DBS Bible 2020 is an assault on the faiths of both Jews and Christians, and an attack on the history of the Jewish State of Israel as well as on the Jewish people. The name Israel goes back to the beginning of Jewish history when God called Jacob “Israel” (Gen 32:28). The ancient and modern States of Israel took the name from here. God’s first covenant with Abraham gifted Abraham and his descendants the Land of Israel (Gen 15); the gift was never revoked. While Israel remains God’s first love, the nations were never excluded from divine love; it was conferred on the world by the Messiah Jesus, who was a Jew, and his Jewish disciples. The bowdlerizing of sacred history, as DBS does, brings with it the danger of developing idolatry. As in this case, trading “Israel” for “us” is not simply replacing one word for another; it switches the concept. DBS pretends that we get the divine watchfulness. It has been stolen. The original recipient, Israel,  has been replaced and robbed of its privileges. History shows that robbing Israel of its divine prerogatives has too often been the first step towards persecution and murder of the Jewish community. Admittedly, the mode of replacement has been an attraction throughout history, for Christians and Muslims. Time and again, authoritative Christian leaders have warned that the substitution of Jews by Christians is an aberration of the Christian faith. Replacement ideology is a heresy. This was made clear from the early days of Christianity by defenders of the faith like Bishop Irenaeus (c. 180 CE) and did not stop in our days, with the Second Vatican Council in 1965. Nevertheless, all too often in Christian and Muslim history, times of cooperation with Jews were followed by persecution. Unfortunately, Martin Luther was no exception to the heretical teaching of the replacement of the Jews and his call for their murder. In modernity, the once discarded heresy of Luther’s replacing Israel became fashionable again and assisted the slaughter of six million Jews. This evil idol is alive still, most prominently manifest in Islamist ideology. Inciters in the Middle East aim to replace the State of Israel with their own Islamic claim to the land. Incredibly, this message has found favor among international organizations in Europe and beyond. The BDS movement, aiming at the annihilation of the State of Israel, is visible evidence of this wish. Danish Church organizations support BDS. The DBS Bible 2020 points in the direction of that ideology…

Barr: Some Orders ‘Disturbingly Close to House Arrest’

Political Editors

U.S. Attorney General William Barr appreciates the advantages and respects the boundaries of our federalist system. But that doesn’t mean the Justice Department won’t be looking into cases where states have abused or trampled constitutional rights. Here are a few of the remarks Barr made this week, organized for clarity:

These are unprecedented burdens on civil liberties right now. … The idea that you have to stay in your house is disturbingly close to house arrest. I’m not saying it wasn’t justified. I’m not saying in some places it might still be justified. But it’s very onerous, as is shutting down your livelihood.Obviously states have very broad police powers. When a governor acts, especially when a governor does something that intrudes upon or infringes on a fundamental right or a Constitutional right, they’re bounded by that. And those situations are emerging around the country, to some extent. And I think we have to do a better job of making sure that the measures that are being adopted are properly targeted. We have to give businesses more freedom to operate in a way that’s reasonably safe. To the extent that governors don’t, and impinge on either civil rights or on the national commerce … then we’ll have to address that.If people bring those lawsuits, we’ll take a look at it at that time. And if we think it’s, you know, justified, we would take a position. That’s what we’re doing now. … We’re looking carefully at a number of these rules that are being put into place. And if we think one goes too far, we initially try to jawbone the governors into rolling them back or adjusting them. And if they’re not and people bring lawsuits, we file statement of interest and side with the plaintiffs.Amidst gasps from the Left at these remarks, Ramesh Ponnuru rhetorically asks, “What’s the attorney general supposed to say? ‘We’ll ignore those lawsuits and we won’t try to enforce constitutional rights’?” Barr is reliably sound when it comes to good governance, and it seems he’s willing to support citizens throughout the roiling debate over what measures are taken to fight the coronavirus pandemic.  ~The Patriot Post
